We can always use back up emps (incase one of the ringer emps cant make it for a match).
What happens if too many of the 56 are "ringers" - aside from the approved Emp ones? The bane of my existence in League of Legends were "smurfs" - reasonably skilled players who could and should be playing at level 30 against other decent players, but who got their kicks by creating lowbies and stomping peeps.
Now I'm largely playing CoH with LoL-inspired toons instead of playing LoL because it's a million times less frustrating. While I probably needn't worry, I'm just hoping that this PvP thing doesn't wind up like that.

Actually we have a small group of us who will be balancing out the teams based on skill lvl if we do our jobs right you won't have that. It's something we specifically are conscious of and want to avoid.
If you want to learn PvP at a beginners lvl and pace than please join that is the goal and the way Masque designed boot camp 2.

Aside from what Philly said (team balancing), we are making a conscious effort to recruit and remind people that this event is for players new to pvp. If someone already understands the mechanics of pvp and has a good grasp of differences between PvE and PvP this Boot Camp will really do nothing for them. It was for that reason that we say players with *some* pvp experience *may* be eligible, the flip side to this of course is that players who would gain nothing from this event *may not be* eligible to participate.
The reason ringer emps are necessary is that playing the healer on a pvp team is one of the most difficult tasks, you are watching 8 status bars, keeping up with your buff cycles, as well as watching the other team so see if they give away who is the spike target. This can be overwhelming for a new pvper, so to give the team a little chance at survival as well as to help those players eligible to try a healer we brought in ringer emps (one for each proposed team).
We do have some Boot Camp1 returnees who will be participating their role for the first 1/2 of the season will be to assist with the Boot Camp via the various committees they have been placed on, during the 2nd half of Boot Camp they will be acting as mentors and guides for the players new to PvP.
I wouldn't worry too much about one team rolling another, as I have reminded most people this event is not about winning its about learning at this point and growing the PvP population of CoX. We will eventually get back to the point where multiple viable teams can exist and at that point we will start playing competitively.

Yeah, to anyone who has any concerns...from what I'm seeing there are going to be a TON of new people here. New people means sloppy spikes/buffs/heals which means less kills (since spikes aren't great and the ringer emps should be on the ball) which means the learning curve isn't as dramatic as say...if your new group of friends decided to joined Test leagues back in the day and got rolled 73 to -4 against some of the top tier teams.
Just relax and enjoy the learning experience.
