I'm beginning to think there's a Firefly curse. Of the cast, only Fillion and Baldwin have managed to end up on shows that last for longer than 2 seasons.

Jewel Staite - Showed up as a regular on Stargate: Atlantis. Cancelled.
Morena Baccarin - Showed up in Stargate: SG-1. Cancelled. Doubtful that V will see a third season, if it hasn't already been cancelled.
Summer Glau - Starred in T:SCC. Cancelled. Regular character in The Cape. Cancelled.
Alan Tudyk - Showed up in V. Character dead by impalement.

Haven't seen Book, Zoe, or Simon in anything else, ttbomr.

Just last night I wondered why I hadn't seen a new episode of The Cape on my TiVo lately. Unfortunately learning of its cancellation doesn't really surprise me. I only watched the first 3 or 4 episodes before I stopped watching it. I still have I think 3 more episodes waiting on my TiVo. I gave it a try but it never really "hooked" me. Oh well.

Book (Ron Glass) was in Death at a Funeral which I highly recommend, if only for James Marsden running around high all movie long.

I liked the Cape, but I can see why it bombed. Thankfully Castle seems to be getting better as it goes; or at least maintaining the high quality they started with.

It's strange. I really really should have liked The Cape. It had all of the elements that should have popped for me but it never quite worked. And I have no idea what didn't work for me, just that it had everything I should have loved in a campy fun super hero show. Still it is sad to see it canceled after only 10 episodes.

Ron Glass has was on a long running series before Firefly (and many short 1 season running series)...he is probably known more as Det. Ron Harris in Barney Miller (which lasted 7 season) than Shepard Book in Firefly, at least among those over 40. Since Firefly, he's only done stints on different TV shows.

Gina Torres before Firefly did a season of One Life to Live, was a regular on Cleopatra 2525 during its 1 year run. Afterward, was a villain for a season of Angel, did several semi-regular stints on other TV shows like Alias, 24, and was a regular on Standoff (canceled after one season), and on Huge (also just canceled). So ok, she's not really buking the trend.

Sean Maher before Firefly was already doing shows that got killed after one season, The $treet and Ryan Caulfield: Year One, and was semi regular for a season of Party of Five. Since Firefly has been doing stints on different TV shows, but nothing regular.

Gina Torres is also Mrs. Morpheus so as long as Laurence Fishburne is doing CSI there really isn't a pressing need to work beyond cameo and voice overs. Anyways she had a baby in 2007 so that can put a bit of a crimp in her career.

My interest sort of died off during the Lich episodes. Can't explain why. Sad to see the show go.

Tudyk was also in Dollhouse, which scraped to get 2 seasons.

The British original is better. Plus it has Alan Tudyk (sensing some patterns here) as the guy spending most of the movie high.

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

Putting someone in a costume just triggers flashbacks of watching the 60s Batman tv show for a lot of people, I'm sure, including writers and actors but mostly the audience. Superhero costumes are inherently silly. They bring a level of camp just by their very existence in a television show.

Batman gets away with it (ironically enough) in the movies from the 80s on because it's armor. It looks like armor. It acts like armor. People get the need for body armor. The fact that it's dull black helps, too, and helps people get over the fact that he's wearing a cape.

its a shame that shows like this come and go and no one really outside the comic world really cares......Like it was said in a previous post, this show had the potential its just that it didnt catch on for whatever reason.

That could explain at least in part why everybody's been trying to make comic book superheroes be more "dark and gritty" in the last 20 years because maybe they think that people will get over the "silly/campy" factor if they make everyone wear darker colors. Obviously it fits for Batman, but it's really weird for others like Superman (the darker tone outfit in the latest movie for instance) and Wonder Woman (with all the black in her latest comic book outfit).

not all superheroes need to be dark and gritty. I think they should expand their horizons.

I watched this Friday. Not a bad end for a short run series. Wifey still doesn't get it when Orwell tells her "Your husband loves you very much.", present tense. Thought she suspected back during the Lich episodes when he said some phrase he had used back before Vince "died".
