So Over Having My Fortune Read
i honestly hate the popup too, i do like they fixed it so you cant get fortune read when you already have one, but i do hate that popup and love when they removed the popup
It is a buff... I like it...

Options: Prompt, Don't Prompt, Reject Always.

Or simply to machete to drive by reader.

There were people vocal about having the fortune always accept, so it was changed. I'd still prefer an option in the options to let you choose if you want to always accept, prompt, or always reject. I have prompt team teleport on because I hate it when I'm fighting something and winning, then someone on the team uses ATT and pulls me away. Or recall friend on me. I'll accept when I'm ready, not when you think I am.

I think it is so much more logical for a character with a magic booster to read their own fortune. That way they can give themselves the buff if they want, and not bother other players.
I know the devs typically think in terms of systems and not stories, but it makes perfect RP sense for a magic-oriented character to read their own fortune before entering a mission or starting a boss fight.
or an easier option just for always accept, always reject, or neither

that is the same thing...

An option to "Reject Another Players Obsessive Need To Use Their Powers On Another Player."
To some extent my annoyance also extends to people who feel the need to drop every buff they have on me while - yes - I'm using a trainer, the market, a vendor, or whatever. If I'm not in combat I probably don't need a fiery floating rock aura buff to converse with the Market.
I would love auto accept/reject, BUT, you can only be prompted maximum of 3 times an hour and it is a buff, so I LOVE IT!

I must be doing something wrong because no one ever reads my fortune on the fly. Heck if I want my fortune read on a team, I usually have to read someone else's first.

I love the popup, but I understand people's different frustrations with certain things.
This is the only thing that annoys me with Mystic Fortune these days...
I know that not everyone on Virtue is a role-player, hehe...
But I do not understand it when I'm playing with a group of role-players and having a fine time role-playing and heading to whatever adventure/mission/quest/thing and one of the characters just throws a Mystic Fortune at me... no dialog, no IC explanation of anything to do with it...
Just the big ol' animation of throwing magical cards at me and a popup in front of me (which I will DECLINE within a heartbeat).
Now, if a character makes it a part of their character or provides some sort of IC reasoning and such... My character will make the decision of whether they'll accept the process (If they have a choice, based on whatever is going on/the explanation behind the power, etc).
And yeah... I don't really need the little buffs, thank you, hehe... we were just steam-rolling the enemies without them!
Now... when you wipe a bunch or something crazy has happened and it's time to bring every single thing everyone can in order to get things back on track and finished in a timely manner... Okay, then... I'm not going to slow us down by refusing.
Otherwise...
Me hates the stupid spinning cards graphics and the annoying sound affects that come up each damn time they appear and spin around me for the duration of the buff which doesn't even go away if you are defeated or logout!
So, yeah... Decline is my friend!

Seriously.
I'm over it. I can't use the market, the train station, a trainer, a vendor, waiting in front of a mission door, a SF contact - anything - without someone whipping by and "reading my fortune" & making that accept window pop up over whatever I'm doing. It's driving me loco. Let it go, people. It was cute when it came out. I'm going to start gunning down people that do drive-by-readings. |
I don't do it to be annoying. I do it to give a little extra buffage.
If I ever fortuned you while at WW, I'm sorry

Someone got my wrath yesterday for doing it while I was buying enhancements.
Like any other buff, I will use it in a mission, and that's it, unless it is asked for. I don't mind it one way or the other though as it's fairly unobtrusive. And the little pop up box doesn't bug me really, in fact it bothers me a hell of a lot less than say a random flaming aura or icey buff while I am anywhere but on a mission/raid. At least I can make that little window go away, and then it can't come back for at least 15 minutes!
