TOS at each login, ingame - why?

This is what 3700 heroes in a single zone looks like.
Thanks to @EnsonsDeath for the GVE code that made me VIP again!
Great to see they're really working hard to make that transition go as bad as possible.
Seems to me it would have made more sense to display it once, maybe right after the game is loaded, rather than at every login, but what do I know. I care about usability when interfaces are concerned, so I'm probably like a Praetorian version of the average NCSoft employee.

It would be ok if the "Exit to Character Select" option actually worked all the time. Most of the time (for my wife and I anyway) it either hangs for a very long time and/or just goes to the login screen with an "unable to connect" message.
We finally gave up and went back to using Exit to Login because it was faster to retype the password and select the server than it was to wait for the other option to finally decide it wasn't going to work.

What's the big deal? I downloaded the launcher today and ran it, and it worked fine. It costs you one extra click on the login screen, but it saves you a click on the loader utility. Plus, if I recall correctly, the loader better handles downloading and installing updates. And if you have other NCsoft games, you launch them all from the same utility. It seems to me that these are all good things, not bad. (Well, except the number of clicks, which comes out in the wash.)
One feature I'd like to see them add is a context menu on the system tray icon that would let you launch a game directly from the icon. Right now, it just has Open and Exit. It should also have City of Heroes, City of Heroes Test, and any other NCsoft games you have installed, so that you don't even have to hit the launcher icon to play.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."

"TOS ingame are slightly laggy on my computer and forces me to accept each time I login rather than only once at launcher in a doubleclick."
apparently leads to the answer
"OMG WTF why do you ***** about this for no reason STOP OVERREACTING what's the big deaaaaal rrrraaaarrrrgggghhhh *drops down with foam at the mouth*"
Fanboy goggles sure seem fun.
Meanwhile in the real world... Numerous factual complaints have been made about the NCSoft launcher, such as it being a performance hog, crashing, causing blue screens, and so on. Sticking your fingers in your ears and pretending the problems don't happen because they don't happen to you personally works when you're a toddler who doesn't want to eat his vegetables regardless of how many starving african kids stories mommy tells him, but it's kind of a silly attitude to have as an adult.

On the note of it being a resource hog, you can set it to NOT autostart and to Autoquit upon launch of the game. Then set a couple of desktop short cuts to the game, it'll start the launcher, start the game, exit the launcher. No resource hogging necessary. I've used it with no issues all week on a Win7 64bit machine.

Find something else to complain about. Seems like your version of reality is as distorted as your version of virtual reality.
(btw, you have NO idea how long I've been sitting on this graphic I made. Finally, a troll thread that mentions goggles, fingers in ears, and blue screens!)

Yes, it bluescreens my PC all the time, i cannot use it. Have ZoneAlarm fixed the issue on my PC after the reports have been sent in?
NO.
I cannot deny that *some* people have had issues with it.
Hell, if you have played Lineage 2, then you *might* know of some of the issues it has with Comodo Firewall...
Same can be said of *any* software.
Some people will always have issues with x/y/z.
It all seems to be more about *decreasing* quality of life than improving it.

I disagree with the original poster; and judging by the increased patching, installing and loading speed of the game on my machine, the OP's complaint calls into question the age, maintenance and performance of his computer.
Beyond all that, the new launcher looks slick, as opposed to the unpolished launcher we're all used to. I've been playing MMORPGs for several years, and my first impression of the old launcher was not favorable compared to many other games I've seen. It looked like a slapped-together afterthought, unlike the NCSoft launcher, which is polished and well-designed.
I'm also impressed by the way the Terms Of Service has been designed into the UI itself. This is standard in many MMORPGs, and legally, it's just the smart thing to do for Paragon Studios and us players who like to play by the rules (and who would prefer that everyone else does too).

I understand this game is alt friendly, but do that many really alt out that constantly to dfferent characters to make hitting the ToS button over and over again a problem?
It's kinda like the quit to login.
I never saw the problem with it, because, okay, at most I was switching out every two hours. So what was the problem before?
For this to be a problem, I would think one would have to be logging out every 10 minutes.

Several months ago we had to pull a faulty ram chip. I was crashing literally every 5 - 10 minutes until we figured out the issue...which only took about two weeks. I could barely play as it was, but had I had to wait 20 - 30 minutes for those files to verify every time... I'd still be sitting here waiting. =P
For some people its convenience, it has nothing to do with "whining* once they've gotten caught. We don't do anything here that we could get the smackdown for, anyways.
I'm sure someone will come in and tell me that skipping the updater is all sorts of wrong and evil or something... >.>

Yes, I am one of those major alt-o-holics...probably in need of a program or something.
And there have been occassions where I don't know what I want to play, and am alting about every 20 minutes because I can't stick with just the one character.
I find the whole - you must click this everytime - thing a litte annoying, but its certainly not going to kill me.

While folks are still having errors, I hear a lot more people commenting on how much nicer it is than the old NCsoft Launcher as well as the old CoH launcher.
Have you, in fact installed the new launcher, Nihilii and tested it out yourself? Or are you just regurgitating the same DOOOOOOOOOMMM! others commented about when they heard about the new Launcher?
In a game that is so alt friendly, it's very cumbersome ; not to mention laggy for me. Why was this change necessary?
Very disappointed with the QoL in CoH lately. First the terrible new team window on I20 sneak peek, then the news that the NCSoft Launcher will be mandatory, and now this. It all seems to be more about *decreasing* quality of life than improving it.
