Downtime Tuesday Feb 22.
After all, nobody ever makes typos.
There would have to be some odd reason for it, and tomorrow passes we won't know, but I'd think they meant PST am or something.
Note, the devs are on the west coast, so even if it's 7pm EST, that makes it' 4 for them.

This was not a typo.
I'm well aware of what time it will be for them. That fact only makes the idea even more ridiculous as they're going to hotfix, then take off for the day. You know, instead of doing it earlier in the day when there isn't a boat load of people in the game, and coming on shortly afterwards to monitor this "hotfix".

We'll see....
after re-reading it, it does seem kind of odd for all the times to be PM (from past patches im sure the maint window took place at exact same times in AM)
im not going to discount the possible typo or mistype (as it has happened before)
but even if those times are correct, ill be in class during almost that entire downtime window anyway, so mistype or not, it wont matter to me much lol

Flameshot maybe if you clicked the link Aveata put in the announcement you would see the PM is a typo.
Go back to the announcement click the link and look at the US times. You'll see the are all AM times. Hey look 4am in Los Angles, hey look 7am in NY, hey look 6am in Chicago.
She has to do the same message in 3 languages cut her some slack.

I'm going to ignore the fact that you replied without even bothering to look for the actual announcement, where it very clearly gives the time in ALL timezones, and has for some time now.

Clicking on the link:
Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 4:00 AM San Francisco time
I hope that clears it up for you.

Second, thank you for pointing out those were links. I had never hovered over them as I assumed them to be underlined, bolded text.
Third, I have no issues admitting I'm wrong when that is the case. After clicking on the link I do see it shows AM, but up until today I didn't even notice they were links. I apologize for freaking out, but as you can all plainly see, it says PM in the announcement.

We'll see....
First of all, clicking on the link does in fact state 7am EST, you are correct. If this is a typo, then that's fantastic. However, as of right now it's still not fixed. (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...96#post3498596)

Silly Avatea.
I work 11AM- 7PM (usually much later) and this is the second week in a row I have woke up to the servers being down on Tuesday in addition to the normal downtime on Thursday. Personally I do not know why they start downtimes at 7AM EST. Couldn't they be moved back to 5AM EST? Still it is better than the old 9 AM-11AM EST times they started with. I have a sent private messages to the Devs and got no response. Does anyone know if these live issues are going to be ongoing? If so it is going to put a major crimp in my playing time, essentially cutting out an additional 2 hours a week. I realize 7-9 is not prime time for most of you but it is for me and these live issues and the regular maintenance are just a pain.
Remember NcSoft not all your customers live on the West Coast and when an almost 7 year player sends you repeated emails about an issue it might be good customer service to actually respond to them and not just ignore them.
No matter when they do the downtime, they are going to be inconveniencing SOMEONE.
If they adjust the timing so YOU can play, that means it is almost guaranteed to screw someone else out of THEIR playtime. So, to make things easier, they schedule it for the time the IT guys are first showing up for work (probably). I know some of the servers are physically located in Virginia, so maybe they are splitting the difference so they don't have to make people come it at too strange of an hour to do it.
I have sent many PMs to devs and got no response. They are busy, and don't have time to respond to every single PM that hits their in-box. You and I receive a PM every so often, rarely more than a few in a week. The devs get hundreds every day. Responding to all of them would take up the majority of their work day, and I, for one, would rather have them working on the game than firing off 400 PM responses.
The few times I DID get a response from one of them, it was very seldom more than a couple sentences, sometimes not even that much. I once got a reply from Castle that consisted of "Not gonna happen", and that was the entirety of it.
Don't take it personally that they didn't respond.

I understand the Devs are busy and do not respond to every PM. Trust me after 7 years of COH i am used to NcSofts "customer service"! I do not have access to their usage time information and the like but must wonder if there are more people on at 5AM than 7AM, or if one day is busier than another.
In fact I did not complain about the regular Thursday maintenance despite the fact that I think the timing stinks. My problem is that for the second week in a row they have added a 2 hour downtime to Tuesday at the same time as the Thursday downtime. My gut tells me that this is due to the Weekly Strike Target and if its true then this will be a weekly occurence. Now if they want to move maintenance from Thursday to Tuesday then thats not really an issue but if suddenly I am lose 4 prime playing hours (for me) instead of 2 then I am going to have to seriously reconsider where I spend my gaming dollars.
Not that anyone really cares but I work outside for a utility company and by the time I get home at night I am usually too tired to jump on the computer. Mornings are my COH time and this maintenance/issue is just beyond annoying.

Yup - those of us on the other side of the world are pretty resigned to being the bunnies who lose out on prime time playing. At least in summer it's 11pm, not 9pm as it is in winter, so it's just an enforced early night.

Tuesdays are generally the days used for server patches and publishes. I guess today's is this one from the Test server, in preparation for the Animal Pack going on sale.

It sucks that it happens to be the time you play, but they have to do it sometime, and the morning hours when most people are still sleeping or at work is the time it makes the most sense to do it during.
I get that you're annoyed, but if you have to annoy people, it is better to annoy the fewest people possible.

All City of Heroes/City of Villains servers are centrally located in Dallas, Texas, as of July 29, 2010.
I miss the days of living 15 miles from Pinnacle, rather than 1500.
... Crud. That means if one goes down to connection problems, they're all hosed. But I guess that's why global chat has been behaving lately.

Am I the only one who thinks applying a hotfix smack dab in the middle of the EST primetime is a bit ridiculous?
I mean really? Because the WHOLE day Tuesday isn't enough? You *have* to do it between 7pm-9pm EST? Wow. Who's bright idea was that?
We'll see....
