Things that are vastly different in pvp vs pve


AoEs... they all suck in pvp
Mez... they always work, but for very short amounts of time now. no real chance or need for mez stacking
buffs... many get cancelled out by Diminishing returns
Damage... single target damage is basically animation time = damage so, things like kinetic melee and sonic do a lot of damage while quick things like claws and ice blast don't.... it is a hard thing to realize but Blaze is out damaged by Flares and Fire Blast now.

Think the biggest one I'd point out is this. With single target damage based on ani time, some powerset melee attacks become less favorable than power pool attacks. <sigh> So, Flurry, Jump Kick, and such tier 1 / 2 attacks in the power pools can be better than what you chose based on AT, as long as they have long ani times. Something to keep in mind.

One last thing - I think, all things being equal, that anyone who wants to show up with a toon that isn't decked out for the occasion should be fine. This is, after all, just for fun.

the build i'll be bringing will have one purple set and that will be the fanciest thing in it (stun set) it is also a "sub optimal" pvp toon in todays pvp but one i've always liked and will always have fun on.

Well i will be bringing Dead West because I can't seem to play any of my alts right now.

One question...

How many people here have been talking this up ingame? I'm not saying blare it on broadcast in AP, but what about the global channels*? I've seen it in a motd in LB (I think), but not everyone reads those. Probably less than read the forums. The forum readership's a lot smaller than the server population, though.

Think if we talk this up, even if people don't sign up on the forums, we might get a few more show up day-of. Worth a shot? I think it's time for the people who like pvp to start recruiting people again, since otherwise, it's just going to stay dead. C'mon, lets get some new blood!

For those reading this who don't know about pvp, or tried it and didn't care for it, give it a shot, a second time if needed. It's not all bad. Remember, we're all still Liberty people here. Sportsmanship on this server's pretty huge. Not sure what's going on, there's folks who'll help you out.

*BTW, by global channels I refer to ShF, LB, and LFA. Others, I'm not aware of, and I'm sure everyone in Robo's Lounge already knows about this so that doesn't really count.

I wish I could confirm - but my schedule is not a consistent one lately. One co-worker has a death in the family, the other on jury duty, and one is the son-in-law of the one who makes out the schedule, and we never know if that kid will show up. Nepotism at its worst.

In any event, if I'm awake and not at work, I'll come play. As it stands now, I'm on schedule to work that night and don't see myself losing sleep to join in the fun. But, I never saw myself joining in two hami raids last week either.

Looks like a few of Robo's friends have forgotten to sign up yet...

To be fair to everyone, I wanted to bow out as gracefully and non-cowardly as I can. I put in a lengthy day, and the lovely Mardi-Gras season somehow found the sprinkles on my donuts and the masses decided to buy them all, so I had to make many, many more.

In short, if I have a bout of insomnia, I still will sit this event out.

A shame, too, because I actually enjoy PvP, and there was a time when I thought myself halfway decent at it.

So, thanks, Robo and the lounge gang for having the event, and sorry, I'm not gonna be able to make it.
