Tonight's Episode of No Ordinary Family
I could hear the DING! when Mind-Reader Girl stopped the thug.
This is stilll on? I had no idea. Is it any good?
I watched the first half dozen episodes, but then in switching over from TiVo to a Comcast dvr, I forgot to keep recording it.

OH COME THE FRACK ON WITH THAT LAST SCENE?!?!? |
And yes, mousedroid, it's still on. HULU has all of the episodes, if you want to get caught up. It has it's "family show" moments, but there are some pretty decent super hero moments as well. The mom's assistant is usually a good source of comic book references and humor. Those turned off by teenage drama may have to endure a few minutes here and there, but I think they show the powers well and the super hero storylines aren't too sanitized. I'm still watching.

It's plodding just a bit, but it's a decent "super" series.
I would think Dr. King already knew about Stephanie's powers anyway. Didn't the shapeshifter see her use superspeed?

She did, but she might be holding that info back from King just like 'Joshua' did - the problem with holding the leash of superpowered villains is that they're always looking for a way to slip the collar.
I like this show. Even the teen moments aren't any worse than most of the stuff that featured in the New Mutants back in the early 90s.
Plus, Jim stopping that train in episode 10 was one of the most badass superstrength moments in tv history.

Forgot to add that I also thought, "She's a Bene Gesserit now?" when MRG spoke to the thug and to dad later on.
Yeah... that's too bad about Daphne. I would guess the writers felt she needed an 'active' power that would allow her to be put in situations similar to the others without becoming an instant victim - and mind control often goes hand in hand with mind reading in comics. However, it didn't go so well for Matt Parkman on Heroes...
I'm guessing that King has a power and his power is immunity to powers from his interactions with Joshua and the freak of the week. Joshua, who really has every reason to just off the guy, doesn't. The freak of the week said specifically 'I don't need my powers to kill you' and hit him with a blunt object instead.

I figured it was only a matter of time before Daphne exhibited mind control abilities after we saw Joshua use them. She can probably wipe and rewrite people's memories as well. It will be interesting to see if she has also has telekinesis.

So far its Daphne and Jim they keep giving more powers too. I can't wait for the writers to get around to giving more some of that love to Stephanie and JJ.
JJ needs technopathy. He's already shown some talent with engines and whipping something together in the science room during detention. What he needs to do is whip something up that nobody has ever done before. Be a junior Forge.
Steph, well what can a super speeder do besides moving fast? Phasing through walls. But that might be pushing physics a tad too far.
Daphne's suggestion power could lead her to the dark side.

For Steph, should could become a Synapse-like. Generate static electricity and use it for attacks. Or, just look at what Flash can do. Though granted, Flash has the Speed Force.
Yeah, when I saw Daphne use her powers to implant suggestions I was thinking "Jedi Daphne" myself.
Of course, I like Joshua. I think the show could have just been about him quitting working at Global Tech and trying to form a normal relationship with Katie.
As much as I like Michael Chikliss (sp) and Julie Benz, the show might have been better as a 30 minute sitcom with Joshua and Katie.
Ironically, my friend's girlfriend works at a place here called GlobalTech. They make candles.
MAJOR EDIT:
I said Joshua and Daphne originally, I meant Joshua and Katie. Oops!

No, I never really got into that show. I did see the Mythbusters make a candle out of earwax though...

Beware:NERDS ARE THE WORST FANS!!
I wonder if they are planning a second season or not, given that both "sides" now know about the other's secrets. Where will they go for a longer arc if they wrap it up this season?
I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.
I don't know how the show is 'doing' but I hope it gets a second season. I doubt it will, but I hope it does. The family dynamic is one of the things I liked most about 'The Incredibles'.
Johsua, though, needs to freaking die. Heroically, ideally. No, it's not fair that King keeps trying to interfere with his attempt to be with Katie... but he doesn't exactly hesitate to mindwipe her every time she rightfully begins to question his past.
For a while (and still, though shakened) I was of the opinion that the power manifests because of subconscious desire. Jim wanted to make a difference - strength and invulnerability. Stephanie needed more time in a day - superspeed. Daphne .... pass. JJ needed help in school - superbrains.
What does that theory say about Mr "Still Haven't revealed my really, real name unless the writers have forgotten I chose Joshua to cover up another lie that was exposed"? Telekinesis and mind control ... control freak.

I'm hoping that they don't intend to redeem Joshua in the end and have him continue on as a regular. We've seen him kill people including Detective Cho, mindwipe Daphne, and manipulate Katie's memories. About the only "redemption" I want to see from him is him heroically sacrificing his life to save Katie.
There are 5 more episodes in the season according to IMDb.com. I'm hoping they'll wind up the arc with Dr. King by then.

JJ can use his super-brain to perform physical tasks with perfect precision. This means his power extends not just to his brain but also to his entire central nervous system.
Forget Forge... JJ is Taskmaster with super-intelligence and no need to copy others. And super-senses would not be out of the question either.
Don't forget Joshua also offed Steph's former coworker who got hold of a sample of the serum.
His mindwiping of Katie was falling back on "bad behavior". He needs to find another comic geek to find a reforming super villain character to use to explain to Katie. The thing is he doesn't want to tell Katie about Dr King because that would endanger her more and at some point his powers will crap out again without another injection.
I think he really does care for Katie but he also would like her and Steph to give him his powers permanently.
Joshua is a tragic character. It's likely he was also a prison experiment. Probably in there for murder. If it was human experimentation for the healing properties with powers as being a side effect he may have been "broken" before. As it is now he seems very quiet, very thoughtful, yes still a sociopath but forced to do so since it was mentioned that without the injections regularly his organs will shut down. So he is being blackmailed into doing King's dirty work or die.
Yea, he probably will die heroically, saving Katie.
As for the end of the episode. The "construction worker" darting everyone was used before by Ms Shapeshifter. So King is collecting all his loose ends. Earlier in the series it sounds like King has his own prison full of "volunteers". Bet that will figure into the last few episodes as well.

If the show continues, and Lucy Lawless has officially joined the cast, so it's a good chance it will, I think JJ and Daphne will end up being the most powerful characters.
Of course, if one, or both of them come under the influence of Uncle Joshua, he may show them some of the dark side to their powers, even inadverdantly, and make them even more powerful.
JJ could become anything from the ultimate inventor/scientist, to Batman-esque, to an unstoppable melee combatant. Daphne could just mind wipe everyone and rob every bank from Palm City (let's see the Cape try to stop her) to Paragon.
