Seeing a bunch of threads that are player made, but where the heck is the WTF (weekly task force) info in game? It isn't on the launcher, at least not in a way that I can see it. I've tried the /gmotd command in game, and it shows me nothing...so what am I doing wrong?

So...I'm not missing it, it isn't IN GAME, right now?

If you run the appropriate stuff, you get the rewards.

If you want a billboard that says "Do missions for LR/Statesy and you'll get an orange fountain token," there isn't one.

Note that the NCSoft Launcher is not the normal game launcher you use for City of Heroes. Unless you have other NCSoft games that use the launcher, you would never see this information. The only way a normal player would currently see this information is if they found the Announcement thread.

The last time I attempted to use the NCSoft Launcher (lol), all it ever did was launch the regular City of Heroes launcher.

I don't need a launcher for a launcher.

Hah, awesome. I still do not understand the decision that was made to put the information in there rather than the actual CoH launcher. I think I'm correct in assuming that a large majority of the playerbase has never heard of the NCSoft launcher. I personally had not until it was mentioned in the first dev monthly newsletter.

Taking a look in the CoH launcher, they have info at the bottom of the pane about the strike pack and links to the site and forums. Couldn't they simply add one more sentence to the effect of "To learn which task/strike force(s) are the weekly strike target, click this link to view the updated announcement."?

I'll wager that "a large majority of the playerbase" doesn't realize that the current and existing City of Heroes launcher has a message box that scrolls down, and often contains several messages. The other day there were three or four of them in there.

lol WTF ... oh my. Love this abbreviation for Weekly Task Force.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Aren't they going to be phasing out the CoH launcher in favor of the NCSoft launcher? That's probably why they did this. It would have been nice if they had specified this, though. And yeah, adding an extra link is pretty trivial, even if they are phasing out the old updater.

I hope they don't do away with the CoH launcher. I stopped using the NCSoft launcher because all it did for me was add an extra step to the game loading. I can see how it would be nice for people that play several NCSoft games though.

Only if they're so miserly of desktop space that they can't spare any room for an icon for each game...

I've never used the NCSoft launcher, been playing for almost 7 years. If I'm having trouble finding it, I'm betting the 90% of the non-forum going playerbase is never going to find it either.
I have no problem finding the info in the forums, would be nice to have it on something in game that you could see without having to forum dive.

I only had to use the NCsoft launcher for one game - that third person mecha thing that I cant find on the ncsoft site any more and can't remember the name of.

EDIT: Exteel.

Alternatively, they also announced the WTF target via the Facebook page.

Eventually they might actually replace the regular launcher with the NCSoft one. I know when I used it for exteel it could download updates in the background like steam does, and I heard dunked (could very well be a "City Vault" type project now) they were going to work a voice chat client into the launcher.
