I was a big fan of DragonBall and DBZ in the late 90s, to the point where I watched all of the Funimation dubs of the show as they aired on Cartoon Network despite having already moved on to bigger and better anime series.

The people doing DBZ Abridged do a phenomenal job of telling the whole story (in a pace that keeps it interesting, as opposed to the original show's "10 episodes = 1 minute of fighting" pace that other modern shows [such as Bleach] are falling victim to now), while blatantly playing up the ridiculous nature of the show. Even their own touches (such as Ghost Nappa) really don't feel out of place and are, frankly, hilarious.

It's obviously a labor of love, and I love them for it.

This was good. Maybe not as good as a few of their episodes, but funny.

And I laughed every time the dancing happened.

Recoome is perfect as a pro-wrestler. It's awesome how those ridiculous stances the Ginyus do are all perfectly justified in the abridged series. They're showboating for the TV viewers. Of course they are.

I'd highly recommend Dragon Ball Z Kai on DVD, it completely fixes the pacing problems the show had. It's almost like an entirely new show and it's awesome.

Here's a bit of trivia: All of that filler in DBZ was made because the anime and manga were being released roughly at the same time and the animation studio didn't want to outpace Akira Toriyama.

And if you need proof of that the latest Dragonball Kai episode was 91 and in the orginal series it was episode 184.

Episode 92 will have Gohan snapping and turning Super Saiyan 2 against Cell.

IN the original series Episode 92 was Goku's Spirit Bomb against Freiza.

Also with the Abridged series, I used to be a big wrestling fan in high school. So this episode was Epic.

That's pretty much how filler works, yes. The same goes for popular currently-airing shows like Naruto and Bleach. (I'm honestly amazed that One Piece has so little filler, and when there is filler, it's short and surprisingly good.) I liked the filler that dealt with the Great Saiyaman (though not so much the English dubs of it... ewwww...)

As for watching DragonBall Kai, I already know the story, and like I said, I moved on to bigger and better things about ten years ago. :P

(But the Gohan SSJ2 episode is the BEST G.D. EPISODE EVER.)

Oh? Then you'll want to keep an eye on the next Kai episode. The preview for episode 92 had a SSJ2 sighting. Yes, 92 and nearly done with the Cell Games already.

No really, give it a go, it make DBZ one of those "bigger and better" things.

One Piece is getting very close to filler hell, they're doing their best atm to draw out the episodes.
