Update: Went to pick the third one yesterday and #2 was also there. I believe they said it was a shipping hiccup. Their system said it had been sent, but they hadn't received it. But the comic book store followed through in tracking down what happened to the order and making sure it got into my pull.

So.. I guess I'm waiting for #4 now.

Huzzah! #3 is in my hands and I read it twice..... I have to say, I'm enjoying the parodies of the various writing styles you're doing there. I especially liked the Alan Moore-esque english thing, and the multiverse crisis thing....was that a sneaky Freedom Phalanx reference I spotted in there?

Beyond that, I'm getting a bit of a Black Swan vibe from the main story, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'm getting a definite impression that a lot of this story is really what she's seeing and may not even be actually real, which is not unexpected given what you've said about the origins of this story and all.

I'm not necessarily expecting this story to end on a positive note, but that's not a bad thing unto itself. What is a bit sad is that I do like TG and hope the best for her.

Maybe you'd consider 'reimagining' her in one of those alternate realities where she is a superhero? I'd really like that. She can join my SG anytime.

Cool! Actually the Vertigo-style thing was more a parody of the LESSER Brit writers; while I think he's a nutcase, I'm a fan of Moore's writing.

I'm guessing that it's not going to end the way that most people think, WHATEVER they happen to think.

Maybe we can do a book called "The Twilight Guardians of Infinite Earths"!

Let's just make sure Alan Moore and Neal Adams don't cross paths, then.....but yeah, I think 'graduating' TG into being a superhero would be pretty cool. I've been trying to figure out just what she would be as an actual superhero.

I'm getting the impression of a Batmanesque type, but I dunno. How do you see her as an actual super character?

Bah. Still haven't gotten my signed #1 from Westfield.

But on the upside Troy, #1 has went up to $5.20 and #2 is $6.40 on Mile High Comics. (Ya, I know you don't see any of that, but higher price means it's better. )

You know why that is? Because I reminded them a few weeks ago that they solicited signed copies, and they said they'd send 'em to me to sign, and I've never heard from them! I'll check with the powers-that-be on Monday. I'm sorry about that, but I can't put my John Hancock (heh, Hancock) on funnybooks that I haven't received.

Dun worry, it's ok. These things happen. I sent them an email last week about it and haven't heard anything back yet.

I'm actually planning on getting a normal copy of #1 as well for reading purposes. Same as I did with CG. The signed one goes on display.

Finished #3 and I am getting a strong vibe at what TG's 'mindset' might be and who her nemesis is though it is a bit strange for her visitor to suddenly show up though I expect her mom to be fibbing at what she had been doing.

Its a shame that it is going to end with the next book. Is there a place we can 'take it to the mattress' to show the publisher our interest in moar TG?

???

ok.... Isn't this the comic Troy was slated to make... 3 or 4 years back?

The one where the girl has a sick cat head fetish?

what took it so long?

Alan Moore would be the first to agree with you:
Quote:
So at that point, it was just before my 40th birthday. I thought, well I could have a mid-life crisis and just bore everybody to death by going on about, what's it all about, what does it all mean? Or I could sort of just go spectacularly mad, which would at least be more entertaining for those around me. And more worrying. And that's good as well. Because I've started to run out of ways of worrying people. You should have seen the look on their faces when I said, I think I'll become a magician. Half of them were frightened because they thought I'd probably gone mad, and the other half were frightened in case I hadn't.
When one considers the ways great comics artists and writers tend to go nuts (Steve Ditko, Neal Adams, Basil Wolverton, Dave Sim - and I'm betting Grant Morrison and Neil Gaiman are headed down the rabbit hole themselves), Moore's sense of humor about his self-invented brand of craziness is a relief.

I'm not sure if TG will comment on this aspect of comics, but I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Oh, I wouldn't have gone into such detail if I didn't think there wasn't a slight chance of relevancy...

OK, folks, Twilight Guardian #4 hits the stands tomorrow. I hope you'll be along for the grand finale. Will she fight the Dusk Devil? Will she reconcile with her father? Will she eat a peanut butter and bologna sandwich? Will she come out of the comic and punch me in the throat? Nobody knows, especially me!

I have theories about these, but I won't say...just in case I'm right.

Troy,

I got #4 yesterday and sat down and read it. I won't spoil it for anyone here, but congratulations for taking the brave route. I especially enjoyed the insert portion and the interesting points you rose about differing opinions and artistic freedom.

What I said before though about seeing TG in another format or setting still holds, though....

Very well done, again. I'll say more when others have commented.

I picked up #4 a couple days ago, didn't get a chance to read it 'til earlier this afternoon. Guy who runs the ye olde locale comic shoppe in my neck of the woods has been following the series as well and generally enjoying it mentioned when I picked up my copy that he was a bit disappointed with the ending. We didn't really discuss it at the time, though, since I, y'know, hadn't read the book yet. Now that I have...I kinda do want to ask him about it in more detail, mostly because I actually rather liked it.

I did think it moved a little fast, especially given that the first three issues were a bit more leisurely...it felt like there was a lot crammed into this one. But what was crammed into it was pure comic book goodness, though, so no major complaints. I rather like the note it ended on, and I've genuinely enjoyed this series from start to finish.

Since #4 came out, I have now placed my order for all four issues. Sorry Troy, woulda got 'em as they came out, but doing four orders (plus inevitable shipping) by internet is less preferable to doing one order for all four. Since I live in an area that has no LCS, it's either order from der intertubes or drive an hour each way to the nearest store. Dunno if that'll affect your sales numbers though. :/

That being said, I'm definitely excited to see them.

Thanks! Yeah, I took some risks there, but I figure the audience I'm shooting for will appreciate it.

Thanks much! Yeah, ask the guy why he thought what he did; I'm curious. The issue moved exactly as planned, though. There were reasons that things happened in the shotgun fashion they did, but that's talk for another time. Again, thanks!
