He seemed like a decent enough gent
and he will be missed

I shall run a marathon in his hon.... oh who am I kidding? I'm too lazy for that.
Gotta say, living to 96 has to be the finest testament to his fitness advocacy.
Of course George Burns made it to 100 smoking stogies...
Too many alts to list.

I think staying fit like Jack LaLanne did is important and he was definitely an icon of that. But clearly that's only half of the "big picture" going on to determine how long you're going to live. The genetics half of it is going to get you no matter how active you are. *shrugs*

and you know, george burns was also a dancer, its not like he sat around in a lazy boy all day, the man did some cardio with his routines.
While i never really saw much of him from what i had seen it seemed like he was a nice guy who really cared about fitness.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
And Jim Fixx, the guy who popularized jogging as a fitness activity died of a heart attack at 52...

17 years of fitness nuttery doesn't make up for 35 years of heavy chain smoking, obesity and general unhealthy lifestyle.
My grandfather stopped smoking in his late 50's. He still died from complications due to lung cancer in his 80's.
My grandmother, OTOH, still smokes like a chimney and shows every sign of outliving EVERYONE in the family. Likely this is either because she's just too damned ornery to die or God's afraid of her and what she'll do once she's dead...
Jim Fixx died of a heart attack like his father, but he did manage to live 9 years longer. For being a supposed genius, he was pretty stupid to not listen to his doctor. Exercise can not make up for genetics and bullheadedness.

I just worry about the possibility of Jack LaLanne deciding to possess somebody. After all if he did what are they going to do? Exercise him?
(Yes I know it's exorcise but if I spell it that way the joke won't be obvious. Maybe I should have saved that one for a Punday contest.)
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
George Burns lived to be 99ish without the exercise or spartan diet. I mean, LaLanne wouldn't even eat a cinnamon role. Call that living? I don't.

I remember a great line on the subject from an interview(well allegedly from an interview):
Interviewer: Mr. Burns aren't you rather worried about your health considering your age?
George Burns: Nah, not at all. Not many people die past 100.
(assume a paraphrase since it's been a while)
