Yeah, I'll reserve judgement until I see her. After Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, Nolan gets the benefit of the doubt.

Bane is mentioned by name, though not secret identity (who cares who a c-list ersatz villain really is under that discount luchador mask?), and Christian Bale is billed as playing "Bruce Wayne/Batman". Maybe this is merely reading too closely into some flack's copy, but perhaps it hints at how Nolan views the characters.

Seems I may have to revise my title a bit. According to IGN Catwoman will be trying to fill the void left by Bats being on the run, and her vigilante activity is what prompts his return.

Also if Bane gets ahold of her and pummels her into the dirt with his venom boosted strength, that too would prompt Batman to come back.

It can still fit because performance enhancers are very real, unlike say a true super power like flight or laser beams from the eyes do.
It just to me will be intresting to see how they use the character. As has been mentioned to use the breaking the back idea would put time contraints on the story that i think would make it feel rushed or force them into some Rocky type trainning montage that would just be way out of place.
I think its more likely we will see Bane arise as some type of enforcer for the mob that feels that its time to take back the city from a batman that is being hunted by the law. I would also imagine that at some point to fit into the batman rising theme, that Dents true actions are made public redeeming batman in the eyes of the city. I personally would think that catwomans role is going to be more about mending the broken heart of rachels death, then truely being a villianess to batman in the movie.
*points at his post above* Allegedly, Catwoman's going to be doing the fill in work for the "fallen" Dark Knight, more of her shades of grey morality from the comics than an outright opponent. There's also reports that Eva Green will be playing Talia al Ghul and that Naomi Watts is cast as Vikki Vale...I can't see both of those being true..one or the other, else it might start to feel a bit crowded.

I like Hathaway, I think she's a terrific actress. I'm not sure I see her as Catwoman but if anyone can get that performance out of her I believe it's Nolan.
Hardy as Bane... I could see if he worked out and they did it right.
I'm kind of with the others, Nolan has done such a superb job with the franchise so far, I'll wait and see what he delivers.
I hope the title changes thoough.

I didn't think they'd be able to use "The Dynamic Duo" since they were refusing to use Robin, but if Catwoman teams up with him, it could still work.
Or if those are too silly for Mr. Nolan, mayhap "Shadow of the Bat".

I'm kind of partial to The Cat and the Bat.
Perhaps the Joker has left Gotham's underworld with a power vacuum and Bane is going to step in to fill it. And maybe they're going to go for a Batman: Year One vibe with Catwoman.

Catwoman filling the void left by the fallen Dark Knight I can see.
Bane kicking the tar out of Batman and Batman escaping to heal? Yes.
Bane wanting to finish things and tries to call out Batman but nothing works until he abducts Catwoman? Yes, I can I see that.
Talia Al Ghul being the power behind Bane? Yes, I can see that. After all, someone had to develop the venom steroid and I can see Al Ghul's organization being behind that. Talia may well be seeking to finish what her father started in Gotham and get revenge on Batman as well and sends in Bane. Hopefully we get a small teaser about the Lazarus Pit which could open the door for Rha's to return.

Her performance as the White Queen in the recent Alice in Wonderland makes me think she can handle a slightly mercurial/quirky over-the-top character like Catwoman can be. Besides in this still photo from that movie it looks like they were already grooming her for a role involving being fascinated by small furry rodents.

They could have simply went with "The Dark Knight Returns," but that probably would have upped expectations on this movie by about a million percent.
