Greetings!

The American Legion of Virtue is proud to announce a new monthly contest!

An Architect Entertainment Author's Challenge with a monthly grand prize of 500 Million Influence will be launched in January 2011. To compete in the contest; you must submit your Arc ID on this thread by 23:59 EST on the third Friday of each month. The winner will be announced on this thread on the fourth Friday of each month at or shortly after 20:00 EST.

There is no minimum number of missions required. If you feel that your one mission arc is strong enough to win the competition; by all means enter it! These arcs must be submitted by the author by the above stated deadline. One entry per author per month.

There will be no runners up or honorable mentions; just winner take all. Arcs which do not win are eligible to re-enter. If you wish to re-enter you must re-submit your arc id by the following month's deadline. You are welcome to make edits to the arc before re-submitting.

Winning authors may submit new story arc ideas for future contests but grand prize winning authors may not win in consecutive months; and grand prize winning entries are not eligible for re-entry.

Some months will have posted themes for the arcs; some will be open to any type of theme. The arcs will not be judged based on rewards but based on storyline, creativity, maps, characters, and how challenging as well as enjoyable the arc is.

These contests will continue monthly for as long as players are willing to submit entries.

This contest is open to arcs that are 3 months old or newer.
A lot of architects filled their available slots a long time ago, meaning you're excluding a lot of people who aren't willing to delete their arcs to make space for new ones.

That said, I'll throw in the only one of mine that qualifies: "Cole In Your Stocking", #474611.

You should drop that 3 month limit really. It's your contest and everything but many people outside of AE aren't aware of its sad state.

People really into AE probably haven't written anything new for 3 months. Because there really isn't a reason to make new ones when people don't play your old ones. One of my oldest arcs has like 5 plays.

Also most of the dedicated authors have ran out of slots long ago.

I'm not even saying this for myself. All my arcs are 3 months or less old- but I am a very rare case here. Every month my arcs will get older and slowly be disqualified.

Since you aren't having a theme- then why not just drop that 3 month cutoff. Otherwise you're looking at getting very few entries. It's hard to get entries for contests without any limitations much less ones with them.

I had not considered the handicap the three month rule might create; and appreciate your feedback. The three month restriction is lifted. Please note that the restriction of one entry per author per month has been added.

Hey Trekkin, it's nice to see a supergroup interested enough in the AE system to hold a contest for it; I think I'll throw one of my arcs in for consideration, too.

-----

Arc Name: The Icari

Arc ID#: 458576

Alignment: Heroic

Level Range: 20-24

Number of Missions: 5

-----

I'm not sure what level the members of your SG are, or if you plan on running the arcs submitted to this contest in a large group or solo them individually, but I thought I'd just note that if you're going to run my arc with a team, it might help if the team leader reads the text that team members normally don't see to them so they can keep up with the story, if you don't already have a system like this set up already. Just a suggestion, it's your contest!

Good luck to everyone!

Thank you for that. I'd like to submit

Matchstick Women #3369 by @Bubbawheat
Level range 25+, 4 missions

Looking forward to seeing what themes the upcoming months bring, and glad to see someone else holding AE contests. Though I will warn you, even though I'm glad you lifted the 3 month restriction, I think having open submissions will net you a lot of submissions. The monthly theme will be a good way to restrict future months, just make sure it's not too vague so that tons of arcs kind of fit the theme, or too narrow so that very few arcs fit the theme. If you'd like any advice from someone with a little experience running AE contests, feel free to PM me or ignore me. Either way good luck!

Since you asked...some members of the SG will be running these solo; but I will run them as an organized team event. We utilize our Ventrilo server so that everyone can hear what the story is behind the missions. Thanks for the tips though...I always appreciate good advice.

This mean you guys are looking for tougher fights, doesn't it?

Regardless, I'll toss my latest into your hat:

I hope you guys don't mind comedy arcs, apprently some people hate them worse than gold farm spam at the markets.

It means that the level of challenge will be considered; but by no means the arc has to be difficult. For example; an arc might be a challenge when solo'd but relatively easy with a team. We will consider all of these variables. In the end; the arc which receives the most votes from the SG player base will win the monthly prize. They may vote for one arc over another for any multitude of reasons.

Bravo on lifting the 3 month limit!

Totally understand the reasoning. It's just trying times for AE and the people who tried to make it work.

Hard to decide on an arc to submit myself because everything I write is for solo play. Anyway!

Guess I will submit my latest and probably last arc until the next Dr. Aeon challenge if there ever is one.

The arc is called: Dating Ms. Liberty Isn't Easy # 464550
