Looking for mostly a solo player. What is a good combo with fire?

Much appreciated.

/Rad and /Dark.

If you're mostly solo, then /Dark. /Storm is also a good choice if you're strictly solo.

Pelvic Thunder - SS/Elec/Mu Brute
Sorajin - Elec/Nin Stalker
Neuropain - Sonic/Mental/Elec Blaster

Traps all the way. Probably the best solo corr secondary out there. Great on teams, too.

These are all awesome. Dark is safe, effective and reliable though. Everything thing in the set helps you out just as much as yourteamates. Rad does this too but is more chancy/dangerous. Traps also helps yourself as much as any team your on. I'm not sure just how dangerous it is... but it's no dark for safety.

Keep in mind Fire has no personal mitigation itself except the fleeing mobs do when under rain of fire and tar trapped, real fear cone struck mobs don't get to run much.

Not to mention Dark fluffy is sturdy enough to take an alpha for you from all but the nastiest of mob packs. Have some recharge for him so you can plant his lazy tookus where you need him to be.

Cheers!

Dark Miasma. The others are grand but that's the peanut butter and chocolate combo of cor's.

Corpses can't fight back, Fire makes corpses better than anything else, so yes Fire does have mitigation.

Fire/Dark is very safe and strong, but can't compete with the endgame performance of a fire/kin or fire/cold. They're all good though, you can't really go wrong with fire.

Traps, Rad, or Dark would be my choices...my first Fire corr, I went the hard route and took TA instead.

Don't I know you???

Seeker Drones are great at taking alphas too.

Thanks for the advice...

Can a fire/dark take on AV/GMs? If not, would Kin be better? ...or?

Both of them are a great help against AVs for teams, but neither are particularly well suited to soloing AVs or GMs.

They both lack a really strong -regen power. Transfusion and Twilight Grasp are both only -50% (compared to -500% on Benumb, Heat Exhaustion, Lingering Radiation and -1000% on PGT). Howling Twilight is a -500% debuff but it only lasts 30 seconds and HT has a base 180sec recharge so you're not going to get good uptime out of it.

This isn't to say its not possible to solo AVs as /Kin or /Dark, just that other sets are better at it. Soloing GMs as /Dark or /Kin would be much more difficult, if possible at all. I've only tried AVs.

If you want to solo AVs and GMs, go Fire/Rad.

How do you survive? The -to hit from rad is so resisted that I'm not clear how you'd survive the attention an AV is likely to shower upon you. I was thinking that /traps might be better since you get a strong -regen along with mez protection and +def.

You can get softcapped defense on a rad. And a self heal. And a -dmg power. Rads are very survivable.

Indeed, I my aura fires off every 2-3 seconds or so, healing 22%.

On my Fire/Kin/Mace, I have softcapped defenses on S/L, a heal up every 2 seconds or so healing 38-40%, Transference up every 8 seconds so, and ton of dmg/end/speed/regen/rchg debuffs that equally buff my toon/team. As well, defense through superior firepower (Fulcrum Shift + Aim = True Love).

So yeah, Fire/Kin would be my vote.

I just took a fire/rad to 20 and he was a lot of fun, but now that I am in Paragon City he is getting mezzed a lot. I just started a fire/traps and it looks like he might be better solo character. The fact he gets mez protection and +15% def means he should be a lot easier to softcap, and he'll have enough -regen to handle AVs. I sure miss the easy heal from rad, though!

Well, the +def and ease of softcapping a /Traps does mean Aid Self is a more viable choice. In protracted fights Triage Beacon does help noticeably, but it doesn't do much for getting spiked.

That or pack Respites. You've got the room since you don't need Break Frees
