Cole Memorial Hospital

How is it a memorial for a man who is still alive and probably immortal? Did Emperor Cole actually have something named for a Cole who isn't himself?

If Emperor Cole wants a memorial hospital, are you going to be the one to tell him that's not possible?

I don't think so.

Perhaps it's just Cole's way of saying "Remember, you're still alive because I ALLOW you to be alive" and "Memorial" sounds better than "Reminder".

Presumably Cole had a mother, right? A good 70-80 years has passed since he got superpowers, so she's likely dead. She'd likely be Mrs. Cole, and that could be who the hospital was named for.

The word "memorial" means to preserve the memory of, as well as in memory of. In both cases, all that is required is that the event or thing be in the past it in no way shape or form requires the thing or person to be dead.

Not only that, the original Mrs. Marcus Cole is dead too. I think

Also: They wanted to name it the "Cole Memorial Hospital to the Fact that I Saved Your Lives From the Hamidon", but...even Tyrant thought that was WAY too long...

'cause he's the big boss with the cajones to back it up. Don't question what he says, just do it.

Actually, Cole was born in the late 19th Century I think. At least Primal Cole served in World War I along with Stefan Richter.

In Primal Earth she passed during child birth, whether it was while having Marcus is unclear but it's one of the reasons Stefan's father raised him.

Again in Primal earth, she passed during the events of the Freedom Phalanx novel set around 1985 I think.

There's also the possibility of it being for his daughter.

Oh, and also Marcus's brother.

Cole has a lot of dead Coles to be Memorializing.

Eh, maybe it's just in honor of the Marcus Cole who gave his life to save Susan Ivavova.

The "Memorial" irks me more than getting killed each time I visit it. The best canonical explanation I can come up with is that it was established when Cole was missing, presumed dead after the Korean War. More practically, it's probably low down on the corrections list for upcoming patches.

Why would a hospital built in a city established by Cole have a hospital named after him from his missing time BEFORE the city it is in was built?

As we've mentioned, Emperor Cole isn't the only Cole it could be named after.
