Of course, that's assuming the Shard drop rate isn't improved and allows people to bypass the TF "requirement." You can get Shards from any level of mob, correct?

Going to Alpha my DM/SR scrapper first. The reason being is that I want to switch to inherent fitness on the toons I use the Incarnate system on; but I don't have the patience to deal with the respec system on all the toons I'd eventually like to alpha out. The only drawback is I find scrappers aren't in as high demand as support toons when it comes to running TFs so it may be a long road for me.

That's the thing, voodoo. I'm NOT set in stone. That's why I have some problems with this system; it cuts into spontaneous and randomness of team and character choice.

I have no doubt that players wanting to "Alpha out" every character will go this route. 3 Weeks later, things will go back to normal. By April, we'll be sitting around asking "What do I do with all these shards?" Same as I've been asking about the 3000 Vanguard merits I have on 3-5 of my characters.
When I left CoH, 800 million influence was plenty. Now, 6 months later, most of the folks I team with need to move Influence on to their alts because their capped out. Shards will be no different.
SI Radio has many DJs and listeners whom hold City of Heroes close to their hearts. We will be supporting many efforts to keep CoH ALIVE!!

The only thing I have read so far that concerns me is knowing how OCD I am, when the issue first comes out I am going to be having a fit trying to get at least 4 of my 50s alpha slotted.
I think once I get that done, the consequences of the new issue won't bother me too bad. I hate lower-level content anyways, and usually spend a lot of time and influence purpling out my 50's and making them as good as they possibly can be. This system will just improve my characters.
I am kind of bothered by the TF aspect. For someone like me, TFs are a luxery for when I have time. It does seem that this new system is very NOT casual-player friendly, but purple recipes are not casual-friendly either. Nor are accolades.
I always get nervous when a new issue comes out, but I think we can rest knowing that if changed are needed, they will eventually occur. Think of how much AE has changed since it first came out? Back then I was able to put in nothing but melee critters, turn on hurricane with my fire/storm, and just stand there with enemies circled around me while I was pelting them. Or better yet just fly and recast pets when they die with my MM and let them do the fighting. None of that is going in anymore, to cheat the system now-and-days you have to do weird stuff :P
But anyways, give the new issue two to three weeks of time before making so many doom prophesies.

I haven't read any guides about the new system and I haven't gotten on to Beta yet either. Called me old fashioned, I'd rather give the issue a chance and just try it out once it's live.

Looks like the Kheld and Dom bugs forced a delay till after Thanksgiving.

EDIT: Clarifycation on the Kheldians. Kheldian cannot respec their characters. Something about Inherent Fitness once you respec causes the respec to fail. It worked initially but then one of the patches broke it.

I will readily admit the thought of A-slotting, planning new builds, and respecing can be rather daunting. However, upon examining the issue more closely, I always arrive at the same conclusion. I will do exactly as i have always done and just not worry about crap. Even with my relative limited playing time, by the time i20 in released I will have maxed A-slotting for all my toons. Actually by the time the devs release the judgment slot (which is rumored to be between issues), I should have 75% completion.
To answer mental’s original question. I plan to A-slot Blackbullet, my first main…umm first!
A plan of attack would be:
1) Obtain A-slot for all 50s (most important and needed)
2) Resepec toons (not necessary and can be done anytime)
3) Get shards and do TFs (will happen anyway)
I only have 5 lvl 50s (almost 6.) So I guess I am lucky.
The only pita is getting the alpha slot for the shard drops. SO that should be done ASAP for a particular toon. Other than that.. if I log on and see Ham calling for a TF, I’ll join (time permitting.) If it’s slow, I’ll respec a toon or marketeer. If I get an itch to play a toon, then that’s what I’ll do. I don’t grind (can’t stand it.) So, it’s play time as normal.

Anyhow, I liked that I could jump on any toon and just play to relax. Now that won't happen anymore.
