  1. I find this thread to be very interesting. I’ve played CoX for over six years and I always had the same complaint. Basically, sporadic/sucky frame rates no matter what card you have. I’ve learned a few things from this thread, however.

Question: I assumed that particle count is the density with the power animations? Correct? I always had that down to 50% ~ 25k and I never noticed any visual difference.

I have ultra mode maxed with exception of occlusion, which is off. I am running a Radeon 5830 with a six core Phenom with 8GB RAM on a 24inch 1920 x1200. 50% of the time I am pinned at 60. However, in Talos or running around I usually however around 35ish FPS. With flash in the background I drop to 15ish. That annoys the heck out of me. I have often wondered why I can play Crysis at much higher settings than CoX.

I plan on upgrading my card for some upcoming games, i.e, Crysis 2, Deux Ex, Witcher 2, but I know I won’t notice much difference with CoX. Which is the game I play the most. Blah !

I would also agree that 60fps is a lot smoother than 30fps. Although, 30fps is playable, IMO.
  2. i19 at the very minimum will serve to halt / slightly reduce the inflated purple prices; simply because of the increased supply. technically players will be earning more currency by playing their 50s, escep the plus 4 mobs; however that will not be enough to offset the added supply. personally, I have about 2 billion in purple bids at 20% below current market prices. I’m a big believer in patience when it comes to the market. both in terms of buying and selling, but I digress.

i was always under the impression that purple sets are underwhelming. they are a rechargers and exempters dream, but that’s about it.

Another factor to consider, a lot of people will go the spiritual a-slot path negating the number uno benefit of purples. I can imagine certain builds, respecing out of purples. BUT on the flip side, a-slot doesn’t exempt and purples do, so….

But yes, purple prices are set to come down. they really aren’t THAT good. And as to why it takes 20 hero merits to get one is beyond me. (actually i would guess the devs use statistcal methods) Hamster is correct; the other recipes are cake to get by comparison. A Numina unique in four days or a purple in 40 days. Go figure. The only conclusion is that the devs what the purlpe set to be tough to get both in terms of frequency of drops and price.
  3. Yeah, domination isn't happening. It won't trigger.
  4. Firstly, WTH am I doing posting on these boards?? -

I will readily admit the thought of A-slotting, planning new builds, and respecing can be rather daunting. However, upon examining the issue more closely, I always arrive at the same conclusion. I will do exactly as i have always done and just not worry about crap. Even with my relative limited playing time, by the time i20 in released I will have maxed A-slotting for all my toons. Actually by the time the devs release the judgment slot (which is rumored to be between issues), I should have 75% completion.

To answer mental’s original question. I plan to A-slot Blackbullet, my first main…umm first!

A plan of attack would be:
    1) Obtain A-slot for all 50s (most important and needed)
    2) Resepec toons (not necessary and can be done anytime)
    3) Get shards and do TFs (will happen anyway)

    I only have 5 lvl 50s (almost 6.) So I guess I am lucky.

The only pita is getting the alpha slot for the shard drops. SO that should be done ASAP for a particular toon. Other than that.. if I log on and see Ham calling for a TF, I’ll join (time permitting.) If it’s slow, I’ll respec a toon or marketeer. If I get an itch to play a toon, then that’s what I’ll do. I don’t grind (can’t stand it.) So, it’s play time as normal.
  5. Great post, mauk2. You hit the nail on the head!
  6. I guess there is not much to say

Call me crazy but I six slotted CS with Mako's. I like global bounses.

I'd be curious to know how many people actually franken-slot CS. Is this the norm?

I wouldn't mind improving the stun effect, but other than that, I would prefer Mako's as I slotted hectacomb in SK. I would rather keep the hit pt, dam, and ranged def globals, even though your franken-slotted numbers are admirable.
  7. first of all i want to say thanks for getting this thread started, IAN, i use it often. great job! having said that i ran some numbers on my peacebringer.

lvl 10 PB on lvl 1 hellions - all powers unslotted

    brawl - damage 11
    gleaming bolt - 17
    glinting eye - 25
    gleaming blast - 46
    radiant strike - 30, 31 - i believe 30 smashing 31 energy
    proton scatter - 28 (cone)

so believe the brawl indexes are:
    gleaming bolt = 1.5454
    glinting eye = 2.2727
    gleaming blast = 4.1818
    proton scatter = 2.5454
    radiant strike = 2.7272 smashing 2.8181 energy

i have noticed a marketable increase in damage in an eight person team, however, i don't have the math skills necessary to calculate the numbers while fighting plus 3s with 1 tank and 2 def with numerous slots. that gets nuts. i might try to team with some people on test. i ll post numbers if i can get them!

lvl 10 PB whitebullet - victory
