Been a few years since I have played some questions inside.
Hi, I've been back for a couple months after a year or two away, too.
What class is versatile as in roles in there groups, I think before on coh side it was dark/dark defender now I can play villians on coh side I dont like playing cov side so now there are more to choose from also couldnt get into the special effects of the dark/dark combo. Pretty much looking for a jack of all trades type but doing something better then others is ok as long as they can do other things that actually help your group more like oh crap buttons hehe.

Server choice freedom or virtue? I use to be on virtue but found the rp lacking a bit, for example a pirate roleplaying a pirate is funny and all but it doesnt fit into the whole super hero thing when your in teams, but mostly people just didnt rp much there.

It's fun. It helps you start learning the market (which can make you a ton of cash), it helps you save a lot of cash on enhancements, and all the badges that you can earn while crafting are fun and also improve your inventory space.
Are the mission environments still the same thing over and over or have they improved a bit?

Turning down water settings helped me a lot. It's usually one setting that throws you. Stand in Atlas and look across the park, turn on the FPS readout (set hotkey in your keybindings), and then test each setting until you find the one that is messing with your system.
Virtue: Steel Cherub - em/inv brute | bad romance - fire/kin corr | Sudden Chill - ice/kin corr
Freedom: Sad Sam - ss/da brute | Tommy Atomic - em/el brute
Thanks allot for the fast reply, ok but the environments even from player story arcs all still look the same?
Also is there any way I can get 30 days or more free by adding the going rogue expansions to my old account? I have collectors edition and special costumes vet rewards etc I played for 10 months all together.
And thank you for the welcome home
IF you bought the going rouge complete collection it comes with 30 days game time included. Just have to upgrade your old account.
For the most part, the warehouse/office/cave missions still are pretty repetitive still. I personally suffer from severe scrapper lock so I normally dont focus on the surroundings.
Inventions are pretty cool, once you slot them you do not out level them & the sets can get you some pretty good extras. And inf is easy to come by now. I came back about a year or so ago after a few years away, jumped on one of my old characters that I got into the mid 30's before I left. He had about 10,000 inf on him & all enhancements were red, played for about an hour, sold drops at WW & thought I was rich when I broke 1,000,000.
BTW, 1,000,000 isnt rich, most mid level set IOs start around 1,000,000 a piece if you are not willing to wait
Hmmmm, are you sure that is not only for new accounts? Still 40 bucks is a bit steep for 30 days free and 1-20 content. Now 60 days free I can live with.
I just dont think I can bring myself to pay 40 dollars for such a tiny expansion, when I played eq2 I got the complete collection and 60 days free for 16 dollars because amazon has stuff on sell all the time, checked for going rogue was severaly dissapointed.
GR is NOT tiny. Levels 1-20 content, but that 1-20 has multiple branching paths you can go down and some of the most interesting missions in the game.
Not to mention all the stuff it adds in other places like side switching and soon the big level 50 content stuff.
Don't be fooled.
It kinda sounds like you're trying to convince yourself not to play.
Yea everything sounds more then it is when people are just typing to each other, if I was trying to convince myself not to play then I would say 15 dollars a month would not justify a monthly payment.
And no its still not worth it right now maybe later when I am leve; 50 it might be but still cox expansions are pretty high dollar.
No fair I want special offers.
I know and I appreciate the answer thanks.

- 30 days free
- new lvl 1-20 content in Praetoria, which is way more than it sounds like
- the ability to switch sides with your toons
- about a hundered new missions as part of the side switching feature
- access to the alignment merits as a way of obtaining expensive set IOs
- 4 new powersets: Demon Summoning, Dual Pistols, Electric Control and Kinetic Melee
- probably some more stuff I missed
And through the course of the next few issues, you will be getting the Incarnate endgame system with a new way to advance your lvl 50 characters and new endgame content such as TFs and raids.
With GR for $40 you get:

Personally i just went and bought it, but then to me $40 is a couple meals when dining out.

The only thing you are accomplishing by not getting GR is that you are limiting your enjoyment of the game, and the only person you are hurting by doing that is yourself.
As to the expansions being "pretty high dollar" Direct2Drive has Going Rogue on sale for only $19.95 bucks. What's your excuse for not buying it now Moonbound?
Going Rogue on sale at Direct2Drive for only $19.95

That's the complete collection on sale for 50% off. That means with the $14.99 they automatically credit to your account for the 30 days you're only paying $4.96 for the new game.
Are you actually going to try to claim $4.96 is too expensive for you?
Direct2drive, GR for $19.95
I was told it was for today only, but I don't know how accurate that was. I added it to my second account and it included a month of play, so basically only $4.95.

I've been playing for 2-3 months (after a couple years away) without Going Rogue. The only thing I've missed at all is the alignment merits, but only now that my latest character is nearing the cap. If you're planning to stay hero or villain, aren't stressed about min-maxing your IOs with the expensive rare ones yet (which alignment merits help with), and still find the standard powersets fresh (or find them fresh again after being away), then the expansion is overkill for now.
That being said, 19.95 is nice. Mommy Atomic didn't raise no fool. I went ahead with that, yessir.

I wonder why the OP hasn't responded back yet. I see he started a new thread at 11 pm and his last post there was just a half hour ago. Is he waiting until after the sale is over so he can say he missed it?

Well its not like I knew about the sale but I cannot do it until later today anwyays so sadly I have no choice but to miss the sale.
If one of your main concerns is environments/maps (and you've mentioned it more than once in this thread, so seems like it is), that's yet another reason to pick up GR since everything from mission maps to city zones is completely new there.

Ok first I am not digging the new look of the forums but its not to bad or buggy for that matter, so anyways I am considering giving cox another shot it seems to have changed allot, and I think it might be headed in the right direction ive tried eq2 lotro and others and cannot seem to get into them much, but I always came back to coh but back then I did not have a son and had much more time to play and got burned out, my only real issue was repetitive looking missions.
So my questions are has combat had any major changes?

Crafting is it interesting is it a time sink?
Are the mission environments still the same thing over and over or have they improved a bit?
And why am I lagging so much on the free trial in ultra settings? I went to the req systems lab site can you run it and it saids im well beyond recommended settings all the way to the end very end.
I know this is allot but im excited and curious about the game, I would of tried champions but I hear its mostly solo content and there going f2p with item mall I hate that crap.
