My level 39 blaster has received one purple drop in all her leveling time... so yes they sure are rare!

Once again, trying to get something for nothing costs you money and leaves you with nothing. Reminds me of the Tabula Rasa boxes still for sale lol. Just pony up the $40 for GR or wait and catch a Steam sale this holiday season for $20. Though you have my sympathy because I remember being a broke teenager back in the late 80s.

Quote:It's called inflation. Same thing has happened in WoW.Hey folks. I have been off COH for about 18 months. I had played up to 4 1/2 years before that..
Anyway, I remember back in the old days I could get items and IOls for decent price.
Now though, it seems like everything is skyrocket high.
What caused this a lack of supply that = huge demand?
Where would I find info on how to work this new expensive market?
Please sombody, just anybody HELP -
Then you have answered your own question and wont be progressing very far in game. Without GR you can't do anything. Best of luck!

I think Dec 16th is more of a safe bet.

CoX is such a small part of those bar graphs that it does scare me a little though. -
Quote:I actually wasn't sure what I wanted to do and was a bit of a noob when I selected the secondary Fire Manipulation. I should have researched it better. I find I prefer staying at range with my blaster but you are correct that my secondary choice is more suited to a blapper. Perhaps I should look to being a 75% ranged blaster and 25% blapper. I mean I like blapping, I just get my *** kicked everytime I try. What are you building for ? I can't imagine a /fire trying to stay at range because 7/9 of the powers are melee or pbaoe. If you are going close in melee or smashing lethal is going to give you more effective defense than range.
Anyway the gem of devastation is the chance to hold, if you are taking an epic hold and you slot these in your attack chain you have a nearly even chance of having the boss held after hold, attack 1, attack 2, attack 2 -
I have been researching "ranged damage" sets for my level 39 Fire/Fire blaster. Almost every guide or build I come across has 1 or 2 of each of these sets included. I am currently pretty well frankenslotted to maximize my combat stats, but I'm entertaining the idea of going for some 5 or 6 enhancement set bonuses on the 4 "ranged damage" abilities (flares, fire blast, blaze, blazing bolt). I have enough recipes and most of the ingredients for two full sets of Devastation. I generally only group with this character and I almost never do blapping as I prefer to stay at range, even if it's short range. Thunderstrike's advantage is the 6th bonus which gives you the big ranged defense & energy/neg energy bonus. Devastation seems to be good for health, damage and a good psionic/holds defense bonus.
My pools are Fighting (for the defense) Fitness (obvious) Medicine (for the heals) and Concealment (for tactical positioning and "Oh ****" moments)
For I-19 I am going to replace the Fitness pool (inherent) with Leadership for the good grouping oriented bonuses.
For travel I use Ninja Run (but I love Super Jump!!!)
Please discuss the pros and cons of these two sets and give me your advice. I have played around with Mids but I'm looking for some quick, to the point advice really.
Thanks! -
XP gain is too slow solo. SG are only necessary for teleporting. PUGs are where it's at. For soloability they would need to quintuple the XP received.

While I'm also excited by the announcement, the article clearly states the planet is in the ESTIMATED habitable zone and even that is not set in stone. Until we get a Hubble style telescope close up shot of a blue planet with green land masses we have nothing but a wild guess. Even if there was a photo it wouldn't be released until it sat in a classified file for a minimum of 5 to 10 years.

This is kind of funny but I was actually drawn to CoX after reading about DCU Online this past July. I thought DCU sounded really cool so I figured I'd buy CoX AE on steam to get into the super hero mood. All I can say is I wish I tried CoX a loooong time ago. I logged 175 hours in game in my first two months. That's the most I've ever played a game in my life!
What I like the most are: fast paced combat, travel powers, meaningful crafting, badges, player created arcs...etc. I could go on and on and on but you get the idea. -
Thanks Father Xmas - now that I think about it, I may even go the custom build route again like my 3 year old rig. If I'm lazy and get one of these I may end up with some crappy parts (power supply). Perhaps I should investigate the build guides in your signature.

I wasn't sure whether to ask this here or in Player Questions. I am going to drop $900 - $1K on a new PC by the 3rd week of OCT to replace my nearly 3 year old custom build rig (E6550, HD3870, 4GB DDR2). My main requirements are:
- At least either HD5850 or GTX460 (I don't have a preference but your input will be helpful)
- Minimum 4GB DDR3 RAM
- At least Core I5 or Phenom II X2 (again, I don't have a preference but your input will be helpful)
I don't care for future SLI or Crossfire configs, I'm happy with a single GPU solution. Being that these 4 computers are all pretty similar in configuration/performance, is there something that sets one of them apart that should make it my choice? I have narrowed it down to the following 4 prebuilt systems on Newegg (I'm feeling a little lazy to do the custom build again). The last one has a $100 off rebate for the next 6 days:
1) CyberpowerPC Gamer Xtreme 1076 Intel Core i5 760(2.80GHz) 4GB DDR3 1TB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Price with shipping: $925

2) iBUYPOWER Gamer Extreme 556D3 Phenom II X2 555(3.2GHz) 4GB DDR3 1TB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465
Price with shipping: $920

3) iBUYPOWER Gamer Extreme 959i Intel Core i5 760(2.80GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Price with shipping: $1025

4) iBUYPOWER LAN Warrior 5850K Intel Core i5 655K(3.20GHz) 4GB DDR3 1TB ATI Radeon HD 5850
Price with shipping: $1000 ($900 with rebate for the next 6 days - is it worth acting fast on this?)

Link to all four in a comparison format:

My initial thoughts are #3 is better than 1 & 2 because you get the extra 4 GB RAM for only $100 more. But I also like the portability factor of #4.
Thanks for your advice! -
My lvl 35 fire/fire blaster is squishy hand to hand but thanks to an emphasis on recharge rates and some good frankenslotting I can pour on some good, accurate ranged damage. I'll admit I prefer the safety of a group though. If I'm surrounded I'll almost always jump across to the other side of the melee pile and keep firing. If in an outdoor area I'll keep SJ activated at all times for a quick escape. Every AT plays differently. If you rush into the front lines of any battle with a blaster you are probably going to die. Just hang way back, wait for the tanks and scrappers to get aggro and fire away! If solo use a snipe, plan each mob out carefully and don't be afraid to run away and go back for another round.

Any offers for the recipe in the thread title?
-
I would sell this on the market but I don't have enough influence to cover the fee for the amount this recipe has sold for - last 5 sales 60-400 million during Sept 15-16. I'm looking to get my character's finances off on the right track with this sale. Character is on Freedom.
-
I mostly play afternoons on my mid week days off and most nights from midnight to 2am EST. I have 40 mbs cable and a 3 year old rig. I only lag on Freedom from 4 to 8 pm EST if at all. Most of the time I'm good.

Is there a link anywhere to download the heroic sounding musical theme that is played at the login screen? MP3 or other format?
-
I had this problem once. Just use a consignment house warp or relog with graphics in safemode.

Phew! I thought I was going crazy when I started seeing random tile sets on the walls and the mission rooms going pitch black. Thought my GPU was dying but from what I'm reading here I guess it's a bug. For me it seems to begin after a couple hours of playing. When I first start everything is fine.
W7 64 Bit
4 GB Ram
HD3870 512MB
Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33GHZ
(3 year old rig, getting a new one this fall)
