The show has 10 writers who have worked on different episodes, so I can't see that as a valid explanation for everything we've seen.

Does she really have HIV? I thought she was just depressed and not taking care of herself.

this show has a lot of people with rather complex medical problems.

Well I see online she does have HIV.

The point is, giving a character a crapsack life is not "bad writing."

It is when it's been done to kill off any interest in watching the show.

Oh, boohoo... I'm sorry Destiny isn't filled with sunshine and rainbows and fuzzy bunnies. I frankly find the mood of the series refreshing. We already had two shows about brilliant superteams that solve everything in 60 (or sometimes 120) minutes. It's about time we had a problem they can't solve while they're stuck with lives and people they barely tolerate. After all, Star Trek had supercrew after supercrew and look how lame it got by the time of Enterprise.

This isn't about being a brilliant superteam, it's about Eli being the go-to whipping boy for when they want to mess with someone. The guy just can't get a damn break. The ONE woman on Destiny who has shown the slightest bit of interest in the geek, and they kill her off WITH A GUY WHO HAD NO PURPOSE BEING LEFT ON THE SHIP. I mean, they ditched most of the rest of the Lucians, so why'd they leave him behind? I can't recall anything he's done that justified his remaining aboard, other than being the brooding malcontent.

Hey, that's life. Live it and you too can find out that there are people who just can't get a break. Once again, refreshing to see that in a series. I'm a bit tired of shows that're afraid of hurting their characters so severely.

They haven't ditched any of the Lucians, every Lucian that was alive at the end of the first EP of this season is still on the ship. They've only given three of them any screentime since then though. Teabag, Gin and the blond dude that Lt Johansen has a crush on.

Im thinking Gins alive on earth, after the death of Amanda Perry (who was in Gins body), Gin becomes earth's greatest expert on ancient systems and ends up coming back to destiny using the stones.

Chole and Gin swap bodies, Eli has sex with Gin in Chole's body.

Yes, they ditched Lucians. They left a whole bunch back on the planet Riley died on, iirc. They kept a few small number that objected to ditching the Terrans and that the IOC/SGC told them to keep. It happened in episode 2 of this season. They didn't have the resources to justify keeping people around who were trying to kill them not too long ago.

It's not even about that. It's about the poor writing. The constant portraying of characters as complete and utter idiots lacking common sense. The utter lack of character development. The completely unlikable characters, which is not to be confused with characters you love to hate, these are unlikable characters you simply don't want to watch. It's about when they actually do something with one of the 1 or 2 likable characters that would interest people in tuning in to watch the show they quickly stomp on it before it can develop any interest.

This show came with built in fanbase that could have carried the show for several years if they made the least bit of effort to make it watchable. Instead Sifee is systematically trying to drive the fans away.

I don't see that happening. Remember Eli's the one that told Amanda that it's easy to forget you're in someone elses body. I'd be very disappointed if the writers put him in bed with Chloe after making comments like that.

Wait. I'm forgetting the bad writing so yeah it's very possible that it could happen.

well only ep 3 is up on Hulu so I couldn't double check. There's 9 Lucians mentioned being in the makeshift jail during Riley's death monologue. Col Young has left a lot of humans stranded behind but I don't think he's left any Lucians behind yet.

This whole potential plot thread has reminded of the STTNG episode where Crusher was dating that Trill and the Trill had to be implanted in Riker, which lead to the TrillRiker and Crusher hooking up.

That's an interesting theory you have, considering that SyFy has nothing to do with the show's writing. I believe that places you as the "Strawstuffer" under the show's Fan Dumb.

Later, most of the Lucian soldiers are left on the planet. Varro, Ginn, and Simeon are kept behind with a few others.
From here.

So I just watched episode 8.

And obviously the lack of a thread for a new SGU episodes speaks volumes already

I'm with others in that I don't think Ginn/Amanda should have died...ah well...

Even if Sifee doesn't have anything to do with the horrible writing, they is responsible for choosing when to air it, and putting it opposite the popular Tuesday night lineup isn't going to increase the shows ratings, so scoff all you want.

I noticed that the threads weren't being used for much so I have only been making them ever so often. I plan to make one for next week because I know there might be some upset with what is going to happen. Maybe for the second half of season two I will set up a thread that will just carry over episode to episode instead of a new one each week since we never seem to go above 3 pages.

What the hell is on Tuesday that's allegedly so interesting? Aside from NCIS at 8 and SG-U at 9, there's nothing else on that catches my attention.

And the last time any television network based their decisions on your personal interests was never. If SGU is going to survive the writing needs to improve so it attracts a larger audience.

And once again, that's not SyFy's fault. Personally, I don't think the writing is bad at all, but considering we've disagreed on everything so far....

If moving a show that's struggling to keep and gain an audience to a night where it airs opposite some of the most popular shows on TV isn't Sifee's fault then who is responsible for it? Underpants Gnomes? Barbara Streisand? GW Bush?

Face it your just getting a kick out arguing with someone.

Well that is actually straying off from what was originally being argued about. You have been talking about the writing and it appears that you are putting the blame on Syfy which is what Scythus is arguing against.

It definitely is Syfy's fault for the low ratings on the new night, no doubt about that. More research should be done instead of just saying "Our highest viewed shows have all taken place on Tuesday nights so moving our hit shows to there would greatly help them out." It is like they didn't even consider what shows they would be going up against on a new night.
