Ninja run + super speed?
I'm trying to save as many slots as possible so...
I'm getting hasten and stealth anyway. Do I get super speed or invisibility for traveling? I'm sure the ninja run speed doesn't stack with SS but do I still get the jumping ability from it? |
Consider getting a stealth IO in Super Speed. That's 65' of Stealth, about the same (if not exactly the same) as Invisibility. Only Snipers, AVs, GMs, and stuff that ignores stealth anyway will see you for the most part.
@Gilia1
I play heroes on Champion.
I play villains on Virtue.
is the defense in stealth not worth it?

If you are conserving slots, then Superspeed is much better than Ninja Run. I have two toons that are Ninja Runners and have builds to maximize Ninja Run: defensive builds so I can slot five Gift of the Ancients: +run speed, slotted Swift and Hurdle and Combat Jumping, sets with Movement bonuses. Both toons are about as fast as a Superspeeder (without the stealth of course), and about as jumpy and a Superjumper. It's a very cool thing to try but not especially efficient build-wise. If you are counting slots, don't do it, because it takes many slots (10ish) to make it work.
I saw Cai do it this way on Fuschia Moon and I just had to see if I could. Now, I call it "Cai Run" when anyone tries to do it that way.
Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

You CAN use Super Speed with sprint. It makes a big difference. Or NR with sprint. Just not NR and SS.
Ninja Run plus Sprint or Hurdle is faster than Fly and almost as fast as Super Jump. You don't really need to be faster than that unless you just want to... I have a level 45 MM that gets around very well on just Ninja Run and Sprint. Super Speed can be handy for the stealth, but the lack of vertical mobility means you often take longer to get to a door than a Ninja Runner unless you also have Super Jump or slotted Hurdle.

Stealth: 35'
Invisibility: 55'
Stealth IO (any): 30'
45' stealth makes you invisible to minions, pets, and MM henchmen. 50' makes you invisible to lieutenants. 54' makes you invisible to bosses, elite bosses, and AV/Heroes. 100' makes you invisible to turrets and giant monsters. 149' makes you invisible to snipers.

In my opinion, with Ninja run, there's no reason to take a travel power in this game unless you just want to have it to enjoy it by itself. If the I19 reports are correct that they're merging the trains together (no yellow line vs blue line), o this becomes even more true. I seroiusly doubt I'll ever spend power picks on a travel power again. None of the toons I play regularly have a travel power. I'm very rarely the last one to the mission door and I'm never the last one into a fight.
Stealth IO's can go into sprint, so you can go psudo stealthed with just that, or full invis by picking up stealth. I find I like the ninja run + sprint + stealth movement for full invis. None of those powers cancel each other, so you can go straight into combat without having to toggle anything on.
I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.
i guess ninja run + slotted sprint and slotted hurdle is good enough
i was just worried about not have a "real" travel power to run through tough mobs. with SJ or Fly you can avoid that mess
I haven't thought it about it really, but I just realized all my newest characters don't have a travel power. I think I've made 3-4 lowbies in the last 6 weeks that are around mid-20s now and I don't have travel planned for the near future. Especially with the Fitness inherent opening up Stealth and its Def IO possibilities.

With Ninja Run, there is no NEED to take a travel power. NR+Hurdle works fine for generally getting around, as long as you keep a Raptor Pack or Jet Pack handy. However, if you want both Invisibility and fast movement, Super Speed+Celerity Stealth IO is superior to Invisibility for most uses, especially if you need Hasten anyway. Why use an extra power pool when Super Speed gives you fast movement AND stealth? Maybe if you want a mule for some IOs, but that's about it.
For some characters, however, Fly or Hover/Fly are just better, especially if you prefer to stay out of melee. While Ninja Run+Hurdle is fine for characters with some kind of defense and/or resistance and mez protection, it has gotten a few of my Controllers/Blasters/Defenders killed before I could get a "real" travel power of Fly or Super Speed.

with the next patch and free fitness it's going to be nice with hurdle and swift at no cost.
can Stealth IO's fit into swift since that's "always on" or is it better in sprint?
sorry for all the Q's but when i played this years ago there was no crafting. i dont think there was even DR then
Stealth IO can not go into swift, so swift is the one you will need to slot with it for a NR toon.

If you want a proper travel power, and are taking hasten, superspeed is awsome. If your not married to stealth, i'd recommond combat jumping. You get good vertical, to help SS, and a defence bonus that doesnt' suppress, and it costs next to nothing to run. (plus some immob res IIRC.) It's a better deal IMO unless stealth is part of your concept.
