Uh oh... now you're going to have Evil Geko and Golden Cole following you around and asking which hospital they should bomb. >.>

I can now see myself cruising around in the Flarmobile (brilliantly disguised as a dark green '71 Pontiac Catalina or maybe a powder blue '76 AMC Pacer) saying things like "I'm the <bleep! bloop!> Flarstux."

Thank you for taking the time to fill out this survey and increasing our understanding of super heroes everywhere.

Please use this thread both to discuss your answers and provide constructive criticism of this survey's structure. Survey results will be posted anonymously on Friday
Loved the survey Marcian, but I only have one little criticism. The survey doesn't take into account the people that aren't out for fame and glory. The ones that are sanctioned by the government. The Judge Dredd and Marshal Law types.

Yeah, there are a lot of directions this survey could have taken. If I tried to accommodate the vast variety of people out there, however, things would quickly spiral out of control to beyond what the survey system could handle. I'd have to have branching paths and everything.

This survey was intended to figure out one thing: How people would work to fulfill the definition of "Hero". That means different things to different people.

Is a hero Batman who will never compromise his moral code? Or is he a failure for allowing his unbending ways to let criminals such as the Joker live?

Through a very indirect means, this survey was meant to address that.

Still, motivation is a factor I should have considered. I am getting enough criticism and support to justify a second edition of the survey a month or two down the line. I will integrate this then.

Thanks for your support!

He's a failure for being a boring, moody jerk

Thanks Marcian. That was a fun quiz. The 50% chance was the interesting one for me.

Mrs. Arachnia wants an option for a secret id so secret, even she does not know it.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: According to the survey system I'm using, I will only be able to draw from the first 100 answers without paying the premium service price ($19.95). Currently, I have 91 votes. For that reason, I may be closing this down much sooner than expected.

Thank you!

I'm at 95 now, so quite possibly.

Well then hopefully my votes got in.

and yes I'm curious about the specific question you mentioned earlier.

Also are you considering a villainous equivalent?

For the government law requiring registration I found none of your listed choices acceptable so i filled in my own.

On some of them I put a box because I imagine that people would try to "Beat the system". Oh, how right I was. I got some answers that would make MacGuyver blush.

Daygonit, did I miss the spot to sign my name

Can't wait to see where my choices land me in the gaggle of responses.

Here are the results! As you can see, there are a lot of written responses. I'll be posting those as well in a separate post. For now, here are the raw results. Enjoy!

Number 7. For a brief while, "Loved one" was almost triple the rate of "10 random people". It surprised me how many heroes would let 10 random people go.

Don't get me wrong: I don't know what I'd choose. It's purposely impossible and designed to make you feel like you chose the wrong answer.

Still... that was weird.

I was about average with everyone else.

#7 with loved ones being more for so long does not surprise me. When it comes down to strangers and loved ones, most people would choose their loved ones everytime.

Where was the "Don't care" answer for number nine? Seriously.

On #7 I was the one that went with kill the criminal first then try to save as many as possible before going after my loved one.

I was going under the assumption that the criminal was standing there gloating so he could enjoy the dilemma he put me in.

A lot more of them should have had "Other" than actually did. My bad. ^_^;;

That was my point. I was the one that didn't answer #9 because I didn't care what people think of me.

technically, that would have been the option: "continue fighting for justice outside the law" assuming you mean "I don't care" as in you keep on doing it.
The other "I don't care" would have been revealing your identity and keep going anyway.
The third "I don't care" would have been retiring.

You have three "I don't care" options, really.

Number 9 is the question about Fame/Notoriety >.>

I'm kind of curious as to what other answers people gave. I want to see if I've been out MacGyvered on them. Maybe on a few.
