And honestly, the hostility is not needed.
I don't think it was meant in a hostile manner. But we provide some instructions on the upload page to assist people in saving their files to be as small as possible.

If you use Photoshop you can also use the Save for Web & Devices option to get the best possible JPG compression without degrading your image to far.

Yahoo also offers a great tool called Smush It which can help you compress images further.

I actually really dig the first one, would be cool if we could get some art comic style to go in the background, but it would be easy to provide the site in several color schemes.

As a note as well. Some of these may see some use even if they aren't the main, they could become secondary skins available to users.

I'll see about rounding up some specs for everyone. The hard part will be rounding up prizes to offer.

VirtueVerse now has its own twitter feed. We'll be using this as well for updating the community.

You'll find recently edited pages, new pages and new posted here as well. For the moment it'll be posting the most recent three updates and new pages every so often. We'll look into other feeds we can set up as time goes on.

Please note, this is not meant to be a replacement for the news posted here or on the VirtueVerse main page, merely a supplement.

I've been working on a flashy new ubercustomizable infobox for character pages that'll be up in a day or two at Template:PriceBox, but playing around with the parser functions in constructing it gave me a couple ideas for other handy little tools that're up and working already, feel free to use the first and rip off the second.

Template:GC, for Game Colors, will let you use the in-game costume/SG color palette when styling your pages up with pretty colors without having to go looking for exactly what hex value corresponds to what shade. Instructions and a color chart are on the Template page; say you wanted to color a bit of text using the fifth red to match your costume or SG colors, you can just surround the text with:

and you're all set.

Template:AlwaysAPrice/Levels is meant for my own use but it's easily replicated for anyone who wants to employ the same trick to save a bunch of clicking around when updating their levels. It's a single page where I keep a list of all my characters' levels. I plug an inclusion of it into both my userpage list of characters and the character pages themselves wherever I want the current level to appear, and all those pages will be automatically updated whenever I change the levels on this template. The Template page has instructions for making and using your own if you think you'd find it useful yourself.

Hey everyone, just a heads up. I'm migrating Unionverse to the new server this weekend. As a result there may be temporary periods where VirtueVerse will be down or temporarily locked while I make a few changes to the server to support the data import.

Apologizing ahead of time for any downtime, I will ensure I lock the site prior to taking the server down.

Please do not rely on making your edits in the editor window! Make your edits in an outside text editor!

I will attempt to keep all maintenance and downtime during the less busy hours of the evening and morning.

I've added some content supporting the upcoming Real World Hero charity drive starting next week. This includes a feature area on the homepage and a new side bar banner.

And before someone yells doom, the addition of the banner for real world hero does not mean VirtueVerse is going to be adding random advertising anytime soon. I just felt it would be a great idea to help this wonderful charity drive get more exposure. Well and I have a soft spot for supporting Child's Play.

The site may be a wee bit slow right now though, I'm running some maintenance scripts to delete the unused images.

Sorry! This unfortunately isn't a process I can run during the evening while I'm asleep because it will only do 100 of them at a time and there are... a lot of unused images to go through.

Edit: Nope I broke it. Rebooted the server. Guess I'll be holding off on doing those till one night i can pull an all nighter. Either that or I need to tweak the php settings.
