Nah, it's more like **** everyone who isn't mature enough to realize that not everyone has the same "vision" for their childhood franchises as they do, and just because they have an internet connection, it doesn't mean the director of said films will read your ideas. THAT is my point.

Is Michael Bay your uncle or something?

I just don't know how else you would justify the argument of, "It's his vision so nyah!"

No, no, he's absolutely right.

Furthermore, Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile was TOTALLY Steven E. de Souza's vision. And that Bat Credit Card? SO Joel Schumacher's vision.

So quit saying they sucked!

as I tried to post before the forum lag hit me and I lost the whole thing:

No he's not my uncle.

I just am mature enough to realize that (Despite your opinion) every artist sees things differently. Micheal Bay managed to get the Transformers franchise from Hasbro, and blammo he made movies. You don't have to go see them.

Hollywood doesn't take you seriously if you go "WORST MOVIE EVAR" Then go see the ******* thing 3 more times that day.

Give a screenie of your character to many artists here on this board, You'll get many different takes on your character.

I hated how they treated Deadpool in Xmen Origins. Know what, Ryan Reynolds didn't like it either so he's fixing it, because HE CAN. He is also one of the very VERY VERY Few people in Hollywood who listens to the bleats of the fan base, a minority. Most Hollywood people don't give a **** after you pay your money to see the movie. They got theirs. Want em to listen to you in the future? Don't go. Don't pay for it. perfectly simple.

The words "Well that sucked, I'm not going to see anything from that director again" can and do work. Don't like Micheal Bay's work, don't see it. That simple. He's made enough movies for you to know what his MO is. KABOOMS, little plot. KABOOM! tiny plot.

It's like if you went to go see the Expendables expecting some touching lovey dovey romance. like come on.

This is the same sort of argument that drew fire in the Smallville thread.

You're basically saying that because we criticize something we shouldn't watch it, as if the "artist" has every right in the world to make a crappy film but we don't have the right to see it and point out the flaws.

I personally don't know of anyone who didn't like the film and paid to see it more than once, and that one time is everyone's way of giving the creative team a chance to build on what's come before and make a good movie, the same way it always is. We have every right to see a movie no matter who directed it or how many movies in the franchise came out before in the hopes that they'll do a better job, no matter if the previous films were excellent or crappy.

It's not too much to ask for these professional creators to always be looking for ways of making their work better. There are plenty of films and projects that one would categorize as inherently inferior because of the subject matter, yet there are folks out there like the ones at Pixar who aren't satisfied with just churning out a movie in the hopes of selling toys and they manage to create movies that appeal to kids and adults and work on multiple levels.

Don't like it, don't watch it. Seems to be pretty simple to be honest. There are other people out there who DO like the stuff you don't.

I don't like country music. I don't listen to it.
I don't like rap. I don't listen to it.
I don't like Romantic Comedies, I don't watch them.
I don't like green peppers, I don't eat them.
I don't care for Stephanie Meyer as an author. I don't buy or read her books. *shrug*

I don't subject myself to something I don't like to tear it to shreds with reasons WHY I don't like it. I just won't listen to it.

And no it's not too much to ask that they better their works, but guess what, they aren't reading your posts, they aren't reading your emails, they aren't listening to your voice mail. YOU..do not exist to them except in the form of a dollar bill. THAT is what they listen to.

My point is: You know what Micheal Bay put out. If you see his name on the bill of any movie, you just don't go see it. It's really not that hard to say "I don't like that director so I won't go see his movies any more"

That's the thing, though. We can't say we don't like it if we don't experience it, because instead of listening to the stupid argument of "it's their vision" we'd be susceptible to the very valid argument of "how can you know it sucks if you didn't see it?"

And again, I don't think it's the people who didn't like the film who paid for several viewings, so I don't know who you're referring to by suggesting that we all hated it but secretly saw it 3 or 4 times in theaters.

"WORST STAR WARS EVAR! I'm only going to see it three more times...today."

quoth the Simpsons..and it applies to most nerd rage threads about movies. And about the whole "Don't like it don't see it" Well it's pretty simple. You see X Director on the bill, "Oh That guy is famous for doing WYZ. I don't like what he did so I'm not going to see him"

Kinda like Durakken who hated STO so much he started up 3 accounts.

Like I said I don't personally know anyone who didn't like the movie but went back 3 or 4 more times. Do you? In any case, it's faulty to assume that everyone who was disappointed with the film did so.

And we aren't allowed to watch movies in the hopes they'll be good? We can't go to see a movie to see if it's better than the last one or the creative team has refined their craft because it might hurt your delicate sensibilities or use up a couple minutes from your day by reading our posts?

Well... looks like we can kiss the movie critic business goodbye.

Everything that entitles you to point out how wrong the people in this thread are is what entitles them to point out what's wrong with Michael Bay's film.

Not saying whether you're right or wrong. I have little interest in that, but I thought I'd make this observation.

It's weird, we make observational, valid arguments about how a movie doesn't give due respect to the franchise it's making its money off of, and all you can give back is: He's the artist. We point out how his "art" is very dumbed down, and all you give back is: Hands-over-your-ears nyah nyah nyah. Yet we're the ones nerd raging?

Very well thought out arguments.

As an art director, I can concede when I've failed to deliver the design my client has been looking for. Even if I think my idea is better. But sometimes, the client knowing their product more, gives them a better insight as to what should be shown for it.

Michael Bay has failed to see what people are asking for. Visually, I have no beef with his "vision." Plot-wise, character treatment-wise, I have a lot of issues with the lack of respect he has for what he's been given the privilege to work on.

Sorry if our arguments backed by reasoning have upset you. I guess the vision of my complaints just doesn't suit you.
