A way to unlock Villain Ancillary Hero Side
But I read them as "Patron" powers, not "Ancillary". There is story content added to get these power unlocked, as well as a badge and a respec.
But who knows, maybe one day they will allow hero Patrons to unlock powers. But for now, we can get Ancillary for free at 41, but need to unlock the Patron on red side.
I think it's necessary to add a way for heroes to unlock villain epics hero side. Forcing us to take every single hero we have villain side if we prefer the villain epics is a little ridiculous, especially since villains do not have to do a thing for hero epics.
I don't like villains, at this point I only have two villains whom I'm in the process of converting to heroes. So the prospect of spending 2 days to convert my heroes to villains and another two taking them back to hero side is very unappealing. Please consider adding an equivalent mission hero side without a faction change. |
And I say this with the intent to take some heroes redside, purely for Soul Mastery (Soul Storm is just to awesome for dark type concepts).

Villains and Heroes have the same requirements for unlocking Patron
(not Ancillary) Power Pools - complete a Patron story arc. Heroes
have extra work to do to become eligible to get a Patron - they
must at least temporarily become villainous. Seems fine to me -
heroes who want the power of the dark side must *go* to the
dark side.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if they added a few arcs and introduced 'Epic Power Pools'--a heroic variety of PPP.
So this is where we flashback to Issues 7-13 where a Villain had to fully research the Pool they wanted because they were locked in once you decided which patron you wanted and had to complete some fairly hard arcs to gain access to them.
All this time the actual value of the pools themselves was questionable as well. And the community had along and active thread of some 2000+ posts over the course of a couple of years before the devs even acknowledged there might be a problem, and the Villain community had to deal with a lot of nonsense from the Hero community.(Although there were a few people that actually played both sides and offered good input)
Finally I13 You can Respec between patron pools now.
Great but there's still some imbalance problems.
I14-16.
Awesome Patron Pools are on the level of the Hero Ancillaries.
Sadly it took nearly 10 issues to get that way.
And now here we are at I18 and GR.
And what do I see, Hero's complaining.
Now granted you may be a new player so wouldn't be aware of all the troubles with the Patron Pools throughout CoV history and may not have been able to participate in the ongoing process. Overall though Hero players largely ignored the problems, scoffed at the idea there might be a problem and several people even said to "cry moar"
So now I say to Hero players too frickin bad. Villain players put in a lot of work, time and energy into the Patron Pools, and I see no reason why Hero's switched to Villains shouldn't have to unlock them in the same manner Villains do.
So no to allowing Heroes to get Patron Pools without having to Switch.
However I would like to see some Hero Patron Pools and content made.
I'm all for heroes getting villain powers via hero side. IF they have to do a story for it still like they have to do on villain side...but i think its fair..heroes gets theirs free..and so villains get heroes one free 2. villains need to do the story to get their powers and same for heroes..they for once just need to do abit of work is all.....its not like u have to spend ages getting to villains...2 days and u have the powers...
How about adding a new building to some less-used zone like Brickstown (makes sense with Arachnos constantly raiding the Zig) where the Villain Patrons are plotting their takeover of Paragon City. Make it semi-hidden, where you need to be sent there by a contact before you can get in.
Have all of the Patrons there, with new arcs for hero-side, and completing them unlocks the patron pools. Certainly make them semi-villainous arcs in nature, but maybe more information-gathering than true mayhem and murder.
Or, heck, you could even make it some sort of haven for the Praetorian versions of the villain Patrons, with brand new arcs, giving out the same types of powers.

Rather see a heroic equivalent (with arcs/badges - I'm more interested in the arcs, really) introduced.
I think the devs should come up with some sort of a system that would let heroes go into the Rogue Isles in order to do the missions and get the Patron Pools the normal way. It shouldn't be permanent, though. Maybe just something that can be reversed, so the hero can go back to Paragon without any long lasting repercussions. So it's like they're just going undercover for a little bit, or something like that.
I think people should stop complaining that they have to do work to unlock the patron pools.

Seriously, what M_B said. You want the patron powers, go Redside and get 'em. If Heroes ever get their own unlockable powers, then I shall say the exact same for Villains; go get 'em.
((Please note, this opinion does not extend to things such as costume pieces that require unlocking, because as I have stated in other threads, certain side specific unlocks are simply unreasonable, not to mention damn stupid. Thank you for your time Techbot Alpha will not be held responsible for any damages cause to your property, person or family due to you failing to read this message. Should you do something daft, like try to liken powers to costume pieces, especially the method of unlocks, then you deserve everything you get coming to you. Have a nice day))
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

/this. Why is Ghost Widow going to act as patron and train a hero currently fighting against Arachnos?

I would love to have hero patrons.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Pfft. Go villain if you want the power sets specifically made to be villainous.
I'm actually okay with it. And I hate redside (I just don't get into it as well as I do blueside, I think mostly because I just prefere playing the hero types).
