Who cut my girls' throats when I wasn't looking?
I've been playing a guy for some time, and I played a girl with a spiked collar before that. So imagine my surprise when I logged into an old female character last night, only to find her head had shifted to her left shoulder, leaving a very obvious "edge" and a very, very obvious gap that let me see "inside" her body. Luckily for me, our characters are hollow and made of one-way surfaces, and they could live even with their torsos missing, so this wasn't as gruesome as the title implies, but... Come on, now! Just look at this!
I specifically picked the characters I had with short hair or hair that didn't obscure their necks, but that's true for ALL of them, and this is between two servers. and you'd think it's not visible from afar... But it is. Once I know it's there, I can see the edge where the head is shifted to the side even in wide shots. And, yes, I'm aware of BABs' official animation and effects bugs threads. First of all, this is neither, and second of all, I have lost all faith that this thread is so much as looked at. This just really, really bugs me. |
It's pretty widely documented in the Tech section that something screwy has happened to female head models, it looks like they've shifted off their origin points a bit and that's causing all of these clipping and floating problems.

Isn't this just the bug from last Tuesdays patch?

This was just... It kind of finally caused me to blow over, because it's the most obvious of the bugs that only affect the Female model.

This is documented in the patch notes discussion thread, and the devs are aware.
If I may make a suggestion to tide you over until the bug gets fixed, Go to the tailor and select the high collared cape from the Magic booster. That should block your line of sight from behind and you won't notice it as much.

Cutter Cain!

By the way, it occurs to me that while I didn't check the patch notes thread (something I don't do when there are, in fact, patch notes) I did check the Dev Digest before I left work today, and I didn't see a post from David in there that wasn't days old. I'll have to check again.

That's because there isn't one. Yes, one red name post could easily lessen the amount of duplicate posts on this subject, just one little post
Have they managed to fix the strange shifting that happens when female models use /e drink, too?
What is it with stuff breaking nearly every patch? I mean, not even stuff related to stuff that was changed; totally different stuff breaking?
So. Damn. Wierd.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Of course they're hands-off. They're not responsible for doing work; they're responsible for making sure customers spend money. The way they do this is by pressuring development to churn out quantity even at the expense of quality.
For comparison: Electronic Arts.
Sam, is this fixed as of now with the new patch today?
And I think the quote mentioned was actually a PM from David that someone posted here.
I haven't logged in today yet, so I don't know what the status of things are after the fix.

Patch on Test? Lemme' update and have a look. I don't see necks mentioned, however.
|
Mind you I'm extrapolating here, they could be two separate bugs altogether.
Well, necks appear to have been fixed... Just about:
But that neck tumour is, I think, a symptom of how the system is rigged and predates this bug by a fair bit of time. The way women's heads have attached to their bodies has produced questionable necks since the dawn of creation, so I'm not worried about it. It's only ever present in one specific state of the "looking around" animation and for the most part heads and necks work well.
Sweet!
Now I guess we need to figure out why my girls keep dropping out of combat stance, why they always take their first step with a slower animation and why they can't use inspirations while "awakening" and we'll be set. But I'm happy with fixed necks for the moment
