What drew you to CoX?
I saw my dad play it back when i lived with the folks before i graduated. Not sure how he got into it, but i remember sitting behind him, watching him do frostfire, and wanting so badly to be able to play. Needless to say, he let me have 1 character slot, and Darion was made. my fire/fire/fire blaster. Back then, i didn't know anything about city, i just knew i wanted to catch things on fire, and boy did Darion do just that.
Shortly afterwards, mainly due to me constantly bugging him, he bought me an account, but he only purchases CoV for me, so i had to make a villain, while i patiently waiting for him to activate the heroes for me, so i could play Darion some more. While just feeding my addiction, i created a mastermind, with the goal of having as many pets doing as many things as possible, just to lay waste to things. But i needed a name, and i've never been really creative at making them. So while creating this new mastermind, i looked up, and saw my brothers pre-algebra book.. and i thought to myself... Algebra.. robots, it could work.
Then i realized having Algebra as a character name would just scream nerd. So i flipped it, and Arbegla was made. Once IOs hit, i realized it would just be easier to remake her instead of trying to IO out this already perfect character, and i made Arbegla 2.0.. And i havent ever stopped loving this game, its like a cruel mistress, that i can use to blow things up with..
I can't completely recall how I got into City of Heroes. I think my friends and I just got bored of Star Wars Galaxies and City of Heroes was a new MMO on the horizon. This was when there wasn't an explosion of MMOs, both free to play and pay to play popping up every month. Anyways I gave it a go and here I am, 77 months or so later.

About two months later, I was running through Gemini Park on Virtue and got offered a cookie by a roleplayer, which also got me pulled into RP on a whim. Which eventually expanded to its current point, where I have enough money invested in tabletop gaming books to feed a family for a few weeks.
My fate is directed by mysterious and mystical forces that apparently want me to be really nerdy.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

I was drawn to this game because it was a superhero game which was going to have freeform power selection.

A friend gave me trial codes.
I've always been a huge fan of superheroes.
I'd previously been in love with Freedom Force and looked down my nose at CoH for having less character customisation, but once I played it I got hooked big-time.
I'm a major nerd. CoX is based in a comic world. Obvious no brainer. The RP community was just a bonus. ^_^
I liked comics as a kid and stuff. So the superhero stuff was sort of embedded in me at a young age. Thats pretty much it. It was my first MMO. Tried others along side COX but nothing else held my interst.
When I was staying in Europe when my mom had work there for a few months, a friend their gave me CoH - he goes from one MMO to the next, so he didn't stay long with CoH - but he knew I loved comics and superheroes, so he knew I'd love it forever

A buddy of mine from work was trying to get me to play it for weeks, I finally picked up CoV at the department store that's in the same building as my job, installed it that night and never looked back. Funny, the initial $5.99 I paid for the game is the least amount of money I've ever spent on it.
It was my brother who bought it or got it as a present or something. At first I thought it'd be stupid because I never was into the spandex-wearing-heroes thing. Then I watched him play a little and realised I wouldn't have to roll Captain Spandex, but rather just about anything I wanted. Then I just started playing...

This is kinda funny in an ironic way, my husband bought the Good vs Evil edition game and brought it home. I saw it and thought it was stupid, he asked me to try it out and I did. Needless to say it has been about 40 months now and I play every chance I get and my hubby barely plays it. Moral of the story is even if you think something is stupid at first, try it out you might end up really liking it.
