If I am tramping on your market let me know. Your tears would be tasty, although too salty for me.
there are SO MANY recipes like that these days you could fish for weeks without catching someone else's niche.

Haha, the 88s shed no tears! But if you may, you may reap and imbibe the sweat from our brows! The sweat from our toil, as we destroy influence and infamy! The very sweat that is drawn from our pores by the cleansing fires we stoke!

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. Now that I have caught up, I feel I must elaborate a bit more...

Unknown Heroes is our SG, EverStryke is the leader.

I misspoke when I made some of the assumptions I did. You guys ARE having fun by doing this. You're taking your money and trying to accomplish a common goal. I was wrong to assume you wanted to do it to piss people off. I'll admit that. We all are stupid sometimes.

Now, to address the matter at hand... As far as I'm concerned... Yes, most of the top SGs in the game have paid for some of their prestige as well as farmed for the majority of it. In Unknown Heroes, the prestige is not our focus. The rank is not our focus. It is the common side-goal amongst everyone in the SG. The reason for it being a side-goal is because the MAIN goal is to find, train, and retrain players in CoH. EverStryke plays this game to TEACH people more efficient ways to play the game. He believes there is no right and wrong way to play the game, only the efficient and the non-efficient. He doesn't believe that farming does you any good and he completely disagrees with power-levelling. We do tons of TFs, we team all the time, and there's a significantly large group of nightly Vent users. The prestige levels we produce come with the amount of time we spend just straight up playing the game. EverStryke does like seeing high prestige numbers and he does want to see us climb the ladder, but his focus is on teaching and having fun, and letting the prestige follow. I just wanted to clarify all of that.

Now, I agree. Prestige is the single worst way to classify SGs. Honestly, I don't think it should even BE a competition. Why does it matter whose e-peen is bigger? These numbers are pointless, but if it must be a competition, we must be competitive, right?

Also, I know how easy INF is to come by. I made my first billion about a week ago just playing the game. I sold my drops, I did about 250 million of marketeering over 2 months, and I found and sold ONE purple. Now, with that billion, I can turn it into 2 in a matter of a couple of days playing the purple and PvP IO market. I just don't think I can ever see myself burning it away. I like seeing that big number there, and I like being able to say "Hey man, you need some startup cash? You need some cash for your build? Oh hey, I wanna buy this purple set for my 50..." It's a good feeling.

Just know that I feel bad for criticizing you guys, I was just kinda stunned at first. I don't want to come across as any sort of jackass, mainly because I don't like making enemies. I wrote that stuff late at night when I probably shouldn't have. I can't say I look forward to seeing you succeed, but I do wish you the best of luck. Maybe this will be something for the devs to look at and ponder whether or not it's worth it to continue ranking SGs...

We have our first person to reach the rank of "Fiscal Saboteur."

Lucre the First QUALIFIED first but has not been on when I have, to get promoted.

By the way, that's 2 billion burnt. The next rank is 5 billion burnt. Who'll reach it first?

EDIT: 25.9 million prestige. Scaaaary.

EDIT 2: The bottom of the "top 100" is around 40-42 million prestige.

Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.

Hehehe... Funny that.

We don't shed marketears, we BUY them - by the truckload.

They're an excellent spritzer for tea.

As for your niche - what Goat said.

Cheers,
4

PS> @Fulmen's - Got "Granny" invited over the weekend, and she'll be
contributing her first billion inf this evening - she had to shuffle some
assets and retirement funds and you know how much paper work that can be...

I've been rich, and I've been poor. Rich is definitely better.

For every seller who leaves the market dirty stinkin' rich,
there's a buyer who leaves the market dirty stinkin' IOed. - Obitus.

Frank admissions of being mistaken are so rare on forums that I need to stop for a moment and salute this admirable example of a species I thought was extinct.

on 88 bidness, I have a couple of avenues I'll be exploring.

Mach 7 will be my 'funnel' character, burning the 'extra' inf generated by my stable of marketeers.

I created the Heroic Flipper, who will be generating prestige ONLY by burning inf generated from pure flipping of market goods.

The Vulture Capitalist is looking for a thematically appropriate niche to work, suggestions welcome.

I made another guy last night, Crafticus, herald of a planet-eating entity that feeds on salvage. Inspired by the selfless heroics of Paragon's superhero population he has decided to try and thwart the will of his master by turning as much salvage as he can into generic IOs, supporting the heroes of Paragon while subverting his master's orders.

Ooo fun! RP Marketeering!

Misaligned is a mentally unstable individual who does random things just to do them. So is the character (HA!). She is given money by a benefactor who has taken it upon himself to help care for this poor lost soul.

Little does he know that she has aligned herself with a Cult that has promised to kill the spider that wears a top hat and uses a cane that continues to claim that he will "destroy the market". Misaligned uses the money she is given by her benefactor to fund the Cult.

Oh, and in the process of trying to destroy the Evil Spider, she occasionally roughs up some bad guys.

I may think of more characters... but at this point I have too many new "shinies" to play with as it is!

This looks interesting. Since I can finally play with something approaching regularity now can I hit someone up for an invite?

If nobody has done it yet I'll pay all those back dues I owe the Ebil Marketeer Club by rounding up all the SG beacons.

M'Teru couldn't get the job done. So she sent Mot to Astoria. Bad call.

I'm online right now. send a tell to @Chaos Almighty for invite.

Yer leader is doing an awful lot of blind invites. Just observing.

At some point, he asks you if you want to join his SG. If you refuse, he says that's unfortunate and kicks you from the team. This repeats.

It's pretty epic lame.

Remember, you can use the /ignore_spammer on him if you feel it necessary. It was clarified by one of the Community Reps that you can use it for any type of spamming, not just RMT.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Yes, but...

He's so FUNNY. If I got another group invite from him, I'd probably string him along for a while while laughing myself sick at his tanking.

Remember - if he kicks you just go die. You can rez at the base
