I don't know if they're aware (or care) about us catching up to them, but
based on the numbers I've been keeping, I'd say they're definitely not
burning inf, since their total prestige change has been less than 1 M since
11/10 (we moved into #7 around 11/15).
The group that is currently right behind us looks like they may have done
some inf burning throughout November to try to keep us from overtaking
them, but they've stopped doing that since the start of December. Their
prestige numbers changed by ~30M during Nov, but only by 3.5M since then.
The prior #6 group looks like they got "motivated" a bit in November also,
and made a pretty quick jump into the #5 spot ahead of the group we're
gaining on presently.
They may be more inclined to try to play "keep away" once we start
narrowing their cushion down the road a bit.

I did burn another billion yesterday.
Someone in my normal SG said that he'd spent 60 million to completely re-IO his toon. So I said I'd burned a billion on prestige. ^_^ I'm not sure everyone believed me.
I have a standing offer up on my SG web site to give out money to whoever posts in my thread there. Posted a month ago; so far only one person has taken me up on it.

I regularly tell new/returning players that are suffering 'sticker shock' to PM me their global for free monies, I've only ever had one person take me up on it.
I have better luck just handing it out in the newbie zones.

I have been playing a game with the 5 mil I was given to bail me out of the hole. I buy recipes with the 5 mil then craft and sell them. I take the five mil back out and repeat. So far that has netted me 300mil in 3 weeks using nothing but the recycled 5 mil. (Oh I also filled all my slots with at least generic IOs).
What can I say. I didn't have the time to farm the five mil up on my own due to rl interference. I can still spare 20 min a night to update my bids though. It lets me at least play a little. Don't understand why someone would whine and not accept a freebie either.

Holy crap what a great idea. I pledge to burn every piece of liquid inf I own on the Winter Solstice. Im not as liquid as most so its not as big a deal as you might imagine but thats what Im going to do.
Its probably (just guessing) only about 5 billion or so...I just got done kitting out multiple "end game" builds where I spared no expense, but still thats sounds very catharitic.
Gonna get to work tonight sending out some ingame emails.

Christmas Solstice Party of some sort on the 21st, I might be able to part
with a couple billion for the celebration.
After all, the #1 spot is less than double what we've done in the past 3 months.

I'm down for the solstice event even tho I won't be able to come close to what you guys are cranking out but I'll do my small part.
Maybe someone needs to come up with a flyer to put on the Virtue forum, like how everyone is announcing their Xmas parties. The 88's could announce their intent to burn several billions in inf as a form of the 88's Xmas celebration.
It's sort of the same vein with what Fulmens did with the warning and /evilwallet for the Empire of Villains.

Okay so in the light of day its annoying switching between alts only to have 2 million or so to email out....so maybe it wont be every inf I own.
Now, that 5 billion liquid was conservative but it was disheartening to look at my pre-market 50s and realize they only had 2 million then look at some level 10 brute I made sometime around I15 and he's got 550Million....

So, if a few of the other big hitters start feeling festive, and charitable, we
should be able to celebrate moving into #6 along with the Winter Solstice,
Christmas, Hanakah, Purpled Warshade Day, or whatever other occasion
seems appropriate.

Ok, sent 2.5b to Mandur with the suggestion to hold off burning it until the 21st.
Poking around my stable the past few days, I've got a couple of characters hovering between 1-2b and quite a few between 500m-1b. Rough estimate considering potential earnings over the next few days, I should have ~5b to add to the cause.
