The Sesame Street clip that's too hot for television (Yes, really.)
Hmm I think that is a modest cut for any woman. I really think the parents were just trying to save the kids from Kathy Perry altogether.

"I think kids have seen those."
It was a bit low cut, but it's hardly obscene. Kids go to the beach all the time and there's far more flesh on display there.
ZOMG cleavage!!!!11one!!11
Quick, break out the emergency burqas!!!

Ugh, i totally agree... Its sickening the way all that nudity is thrust out at us. I mean sure there is plenty of fur but he's naked for gosh sakes, running and jumping in suggestive actions and...
Oh, wait...you meant Katy Perry? Whoops. My fault.
Isn't there a clip on Sesame Street when the cookie monster grabs the behind of Tyra Banks that made it thru? Groping is ok but a skater's outfit is not?

But, seriously....this is overkill. People wear worse, much worse than that...every freaking day!
That's pretty modest compared to some of the stuff you see out on the street in the UK evenings...Sheesh.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

ZOMFG! BEWBS! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
Because no child over the age of birth has ever seen a female breast. Let alone two of them.
People nowadays have too much time to worry about pointless crap and it's making them (and by extension, their children) stupid.

Don't forget the first two seasons of Reboot, Dot has a monoboob because of ABC's weird standards and practices department (only bad girls had a sexy figure). When season 3 came out, after ABC dropped it the show in the US, she suddenly had cleavage.
Also ABC banned the word "hockey" from Reboot. Ah the innocent 90s.

This page from an article in Wired mentions a few other objections from ABC.
Another interesting article that mentions their trials with ABC.

Anyway I tend to think it was pretty silly for Sesame Street to censor this.
First of all everyone's talking about it now which has given this video and Katy Perry herself far more publicity than it ever deserved. If Sesame Street had just let this go virtually no one would've known or cared about it. I probably would've never heard about it...
Besides most of the kids who would be watching this are too young to care about vague 'mature' visual references anyway. And the few other kids who'd watch this and tell their parents they got "funny tingles" in their pants over this would need to have a few things about life explained to them anyway. If something like this actually somehow lead a young child of mine to ask questions then I'd consider it a perfect learning opportunity.
Ultimately Sesame Street must have gotten scared that a few uptight parents were going to pitch a fit over the vague possibility they'd have to actually talk to their kids about "the birds and the bees" based on this. That's pretty sad all things considered. *sigh*

Of course we all realize if there wasn't a porn based on a scenario like this there's bound to be one now.

What was the context of the outfit?
If it was someone else without Ms. Perry's lyric choices, dress style, and music video attire I'd be willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, but I wouldn't expect something like this on Sesame Street. That "my kids" could see cleavage elsewhere doesn't mean Sesame Street is an appropriate place for it. It's not so much jumping to conclusions as it is being influenced by the factors Ms. Perry has cultivated.
I'm judging based on the picture, not the video; streaming media is disabled at my work.

Thing you have to remember is that Perry probably didn't walk into the studio wearing that. It was probably picked up by the costume folk at Street (word, yo!) and, yes, approved by Perry (or vice versa). So at some point, the Street folk (yeah, dawg) thought it was appropriate.
I don't mind them pulling the scene if there was an actual high amount of complaints. Sesame Street isn't the type of show to take a "stand" behind closed doors, in that the program itself, the showrunners and what not, will thumb their noses at detractors. They teach tolerance and understanding on its actual program. I can see this possibly being used for future sketch fodder abotu acceptance.

I swear that society is in a state of regression. Pretty soon we'll start to think that women wearing anything less than a full-length dress are being obscene. OMG, I can see her ankles!

Short version: Katy Perry appeared on Sesame Street to perform a duet with Elmo. Unfortunately, many people felt that the amount of cleavage Perry showed was much too much. When the preview was released online, a high volume of complaints came in. Sesame Street folded and pulled the number. Katy Perry continues to host it on her own website, but it is no where to be found on official Sesame Street sites or the like.
So yes, there really is a Sesame Street clip that is being buried after being "Too Hot For Television".
From which your children were saved.
