Marital Arts
It was just buffed. What attacks do you have right now?
Be well, people of CoH.
So far, I'm not.
And a lot of people, too I guess.
Martial Arts is a great set, and I really can't see why you are that disappointed with the damage. I made a MA/Regen Scrapper a long time ago and he was fun from level 1 and he is to this very day. With the i19 changes even more. There aren't any real useless powers and whats the deal with only one AoE? Martial Arts is single damage (which makes sense with the concept).
And for single damage, MA is pretty nice, hitting hard, being accurate and provides some nice little side effects.
And in my opinion the Dragons Tail is one of the better AoE, the damage isn't superior but I've never considered it to be. DT is best used as a kind of soft control (the Knockdown), mobs lying down can't attack. As the first attack or as the second in a mob (after Eagles Claw, if you enjoy seeing alot of "criticals" in the air^^)
But if you want to fight multiple targets at once, try the Chackie Chan way:
Trigger the tab-key.

dragon's tail is actually an awesome AOE
Knocks a lot of baddies over
Does reasonable damage
but the best part is it animates a lot faster than the other PBAOEs
MA may not be competitive AOE wise - but it is not because Dragon's tail is bad.
I have every attack except Axe kick.
it jus seems to me I'm running out of end alot even with /regen, from spamming attacks on minions becaus they don';t do enough dmg to take them out efficently(unless buildup) also it takes me like a full chain just to kill a blue leut, which I thought was lame as hell. |
But your endurance problem is kind of weird, regger with end-problems? That's news to me. (And no, MA doesn't use that much end. I always experienced more the opposite....)
Maybe you can describe more precisely how do you fight, etc. and we can figure it out and help you to start enjoy MA as the rest of us do.^^
it is a lot harder on End than claws
Other than that its pretty much normal.

Sure, claws.^^ I took this as granted, but in AVERAGE of all scrapper-primaries, MA definetly isn't one of the end-heavy sets.
But even with them I barely experience end-problems in combination with /regen.
That makes me wonder what happens the OP.
And his minimal damage-output.
A whole attack-chain on a blue LT? You should defeat even red/purple ones faster....
Well my lowest attack does no damage so I 1 slot it with a dmg SO and it does like 35-45. My storm kick is 2xdmg SO and 1xAcc SO, it says it does 130dmg but it actually does around 85. I think the Cobra attack got buffed because it does around the same as my Crane kick now (around 120), and my Dragon tail deals around 85 as well. My Eagle kick does the most but it has high recharge.
So on a that blue Leut I storm kick, thunder kick, cobra strike, crane kick and he still not dead (he I think had like 1 hp left because his bar was basiaclly gone) and I have to kill him with Eagle kick.
What enemy group that you fought caused the most trouble?
But anyway, its strange. The lowest attack should deal more damage even unslotted....
And your attack chain is a bit unfortunate. The eagle's claw as finisher? You know you waste a huge load of damage plus a high chance for a stun plus a additional (ridiculous hig) critchance for your next attack with using it this way?
Tunderkick could be skipped (especially since the cobra strike deals a huge load of damage and can be used for damage in first place.), its only use was for the mentioned last hp from a mob but your attacks recharges fast enough that you can easily spend a crane kick or a storm kick to do that.
And where's the crippling axe kick? Sure it animates pretty long (feeled, in fact the animationtime is even 0,07s shorter than for crane kick or cobra strike.) , but the damage is more than considerable. Take it, asap.^^
Oh and it does some neat little debuffs, too.
So.... try that and let us know if your experiences with MA improved.
I would do some tests in game, but its too late now (here in Europe, of course :P). But I'll see what I can do tomorrow.
this character that you describe is at least 32 and yet has only 3 slots in storm kick, and presumably the other attacks
With no end reducers
That is probably why the aforementioned problems took place.
You would have the same problems with any Scrapper slotted that way
Or Blaster, or any other AT you could mention

Okay, that's just terrible. What do you have slotted up if you've neglected your attacks so badly?
Or did you really take EVERY attack, and smear slots across them? If so, that's too little butter for all that much toast.
Well, play what you like, but there are much better ways to build toons. I would suggest you read up a bit in the forums on some sample builds, get a copy of mids and put something together you like, and then ask for some evaluation.
Because Martial Arts is a very potent set. MA/regen is OLD school kickass, from back in the days of release.
Seems like perhaps you should post your build and let people look at the whole character and how you're slotted -- maybe we can help.

Don't really have much to add, just wanted to mention that the misspelling of the thread title highly amused me.
Marital Arts indeed....

And its dreadfull Tier 9 Plate Throwing skill.
As for martial arts, between the alternate animations introduced in I16 and the changes to CAK, etc. in I18, I love the look and feel of this single target "Boss Killer" set.
I did a respec on my MA/SR at level 40 to take advantage of the new changes. While I work on acquiring the IOs needed for my final build, I'm basically running with SO slotting. At level 42, I'm having no issues running at +3/2, bosses enabled. This means I'm fighting red/purple LTs and purple bosses.
OP, are you using Focus Chi? It also sounds like you were fighting a LT that has a high resistance to smashing damage.
My Characters
Yeah i have every attack except taunt and axe kick and slotted them.
I got 6 slots in crane kick (I slot with 4 force knock back IO to kick people further and get +10regen)
cobra stike (pretty cool after buff)
dragoon tail (I think is a waste since it still does no damage, and I only use for the KB)
Eagle claw (my only good attack)
The rest I have 1 slot in thunder kick and 3 in storm kick (2 dmg 1acc). I also have boxing wtih a ACC SO so I can get tough.
And yes I'm usiing Focus Chi which is basically build up. I do decent dmg then that's about it.
Am I supposed to slot end reducers in my attacks? On my SS brute I kill so fast I don't even need them and I though scraps were more dps than them.
I usually start off the chain with Eagles Claw since it's recharge is longer than the others, I wouldn't save it for the last attack. Once you spam through your other attacks, then hopefully Eagle's Claw has had enough time to recharge back and you can maybe finish with it. I would slot Crane Kick w/ a damage set, not a knock back set- I don't think it's worth capitalizing on the KB or the +Regen from the proc.
Post your build so maybe we can help. I've levelled up 4 Martial Arts toons to 50 (2 MA/SR scraps, MA/WP scrap, and MA/Nin stalker), I've rarely had a problem with them and I've had loads of fun levelling them up.

I have to agree with you....
We tried all to help , we gave tons of good advice and you still.... forget it. And if you're not a troll. Delete the Scrapper and try something different, you're obviously not able to play MA.... Sry.
This post very much makes me want to call the troll busters.

I farm with my MA scrappers (I have four at level 50). Not the fastest farmers of course, but I can assure you that killing even-con and even +2 minions in one hit happens routinely. Lts as well if I get a lucky crit.

I think, if you rethink your strategy you'll find that it is a very effective killing machine.
First, Thunder kick is crap- Low damage over time, low burst damage, crap secondary effect. Drop it in exchange for Axe Kick. Axe Kick has better damage over time, plus the immobilize is slightly more reliable.
Storm Kick is actually your best attack. Given the animation time, end cost, and damage. Against a single foe over time, for pure damage, few if any attacks outmatch it.
Dragon tail is a very good attack as well. The damage is decent, but the secondary effect, knockdown is fantastic and particularly accurate. This is a good attack to slot a chance for extra damage into.
Eagles Claw is a decent attack for Burst Damage, but honestly the animation time is really really bad. If not for the buff with the last issue I would say to skip it. However, since the last issue, for two seconds after using it your critical chance goes up(doubles I think).
If you have a large group, pick a target, Focus Chi, use eagles claw, then immediatly follow with dragon tail to maximize your AOE damage.
I would take the knockback set out of crane kick. Slot it for damage. Do you really like having them knocked out of your melee range? If you're using it whenever its up, that is going to seriously hurt your kill times. This is a decent attack, but with the newly buffed cobra strike, I took Cobra strike and left out Crane kick.
First make sure quick recovery is slotted to max out endurance recovery.
If that isn't enough, then many regen still take fitness for stamina. Or slot up some sets to get the endurance discounts. Most Archetypes require you to slot some sort of endurance reductions for non-stop fighting.
MA/Regen can be a very effective boss killer.
Eagles Claw is a decent attack for Burst Damage, but honestly the animation time is really really bad. If not for the buff with the last issue I would say to skip it. However, since the last issue, for two seconds after using it your critical chance goes up(doubles I think)

Scrappers Eagle Claw: Eagles Claw now increases the Critical Chance of Martial Arts attacks by 33% for 2 seconds after it has been activated |
Eagles Claw itself, of course, still has a 15% chance to crit everything.
It may be slow, but it's your gateway to seeing double damage.

Is this supposed to be a more RP set? The animations look kinda cool but so far the set for me (I'm 35lv) does absoult jank damage, no to mention the only aoe is that sweep thing which is only borderline ok.
I think this set need srs buffs whos with me
