Fitness to become inherent in i19
Not really, no. I went for Boxing to tide me over until level 20 as it was.
Because Ameera's not a team player. That's why I didn't go with Cold Domination, and skipped O2 Boost from Storm Summoning. As I said, I choose powers to fit a concept, not because they're useful powers. On a side note, both my level 50 characters have all 4 Fitness powers, and some of the rest have plans for all 4. None of them currently have, or will have 4 pools, since some of them (including the Corruptor) won't have travel powers. No. My character concept is "training to be fit at the expense of other talents." Most of them DO have Fitness. If I respecced so that Fitness was inherent, I'd need to pick 'bonus' powers I don't want. |
I was under the impression that roleplaying was an integral part of a MMORPG. It's what the 'RP' stands for, after all...
|
Also, the term RPG exists (and has existed) in single-player games as well, and those games work just fine.
Anyway.
I'm a role-player. But this kind of self-absorbed whining is absurd, and you're a poor representation of role-players when you indulge in it.
This change, as it's currently understood, causes you to lose NOTHING. At the very worst, you'll end up taking some powers that you'll never use. Deal with it. Many, many more people will find their CoH experience more enjoyable because of inherant fitness, and if you think that's less important than your Srs Bzns Character Concept, go find a chat room or a message board with no video game attached.
The rest of us are trying to enjoy ourselves.
Im sorry but anyone who doesnt like this change is absolutely nuts IMO>
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
This is how I view the change;
- More options = greater flexibility in your build(s)/character(s).
- Making fitness an inherent = more options.
- Seeing inherent fitness as a bad thing = inflexibility on your part.

I do agree completely.
YMMV---IMO

So did you complain about getting powers past level 40 on a character whose concept had fewer powers?
Never said inherent fitness was a bad thing. It's just not right for my characters. I'll pick powers I'll never use if I have to, but I'd rather not to make that choice.

on old characters that you don't want to change: don't respec, the change only takes effect after a respec. (Like changes/edits to existing costume pieces only change when you visit a tailor.)

I don't consider it a lack of vision, nor do I think that *NOTHING* should change. I just feel people should have a choice for all characters, new and old. If they introduced new pool powers along with making fitness inherent, I wouldn't mind so much. As it is, they're effectively eliminating an *OPTIONAL* pool (making it compulsory for new characters) without supplying an alternative. That's more a lack of vision than you accuse me of having.
I really think you should just stop posting about this. Your weird logic is embarrassingly wrong and it's become painful to watch. It all boils down to "What about meeeeeeeeeeee." And if you'd just say that instead, at least it would be honest.
i think itll be great...just for the pure fact that itll cut down on the "should i take fitness" posts throught the many years here.
and also will help in game cause i played with a crab the other day and frankly he didnt take stamina and begged for sb the entire time cause he ran out after 4 attacks in a row.
and when your doing av's you need to be able to hit longer then that.
Am I the only one that thinks getting all those for free is not only a super duper good thing?
Sure, having them AVAILABLE at level 2 is great and I cant see why they should not be.
But getting them for free?
Doesnt that quite defy a lot of choices, and the powers themselves?
You can now inherently jump higher, run faster, and regenerate and recover more?
Higher and faster and more than WHOM though? Than all the other players that also got all those for free?
Now, even if everyone would take that pool, not everyone takes Swift and not everyone takes Hurdle. And its a design decision to take the pool, instead of another.
Diversity will inevitably suffer.
I find it interesting that this change affects pretty much 95% (give or take) of the game's population (including me). Because that number is so high, I honestly believe that this was bound to happen. What's next, inherent travel powers?
|
Pocket D VIP pass for everyone, hour-long buffs in SG base, Orouboros, Raptor pack for sale, dayjob speed buffs, temp teleport powers to everywhere, Ninja run, enhanced base run and fly speed? And now Swift inherent?
How much MORE inherent can you make travel powers???
Higher and faster and more than WHOM though? Than all the other players that also got all those for free?

After I19 "everyone" will get it for free.
Either way, everyone has it- I'm not seeing your point.

I agree with BlueRaptor on this. They should all be available at level 2, but you still have to pick them using normal power choices. That way you could get Stamina at level 2 for a single choice instead of level 20 after using up 3 choices.
Tell that to my Kheldians. The only non-AT power they have is Hasten, and that's the only one planned for them.
Many Kheldians don't take it because it doesn't work in forms anyway -- but it will later.
I think "compulsory" implies a thing which is in principle a choice, but where you are forced. Characters who aren't technically viable without Stamina might complain that it's "compulsory", but if everyone gets it and it doesn't take anything from you, it doesn't seem like as good a fit. It may be pedantically right, but the connotations are all wrong.
I am totally fine with this. I like the idea that the choice is not whether or not to sacrifice three power picks in order to be able to use your remaining powers, but whether or not to burn slots on massively increasing your available endurance. That seems less like a huge pain.
I've had more than one character who couldn't have a real attack chain until 22 due to Stamina. That sucked, badly.
No, I think compulsory fits best. "Free" implies an option to 'not' take it if you don't want to.

com·pul·so·ry –adjective 1. required; mandatory; obligatory: compulsory education. 2. using compulsion; compelling; constraining: compulsory measures to control rioting. |
Inherent fitness is not mandated, nor is it a requirement, nor is it an obligation. All of those words imply that you must do something. Inherent fitness is not an action that you are being compelled to take. Speaking of "compel" (which is the root of compulsory)...
com·pel –verb (used with object) 1. to force or drive, esp. to a course of action: His disregard of the rules compels us to dismiss him. 2. to secure or bring about by force. 3. to force to submit; subdue. 4. to overpower. 5. Archaic . to drive together; unite by force; herd. |
You could even argue that they are compelling you (compulsorily, lol) to pick powers from another tree. But since it will be the same amount of powers, I would still have to call you ridiculous because that's no real inconvenience. In that case, you're not being compelled to do anything you weren't already doing.
If they removed the fitness pool from the game and instead increased everyone's base movement speeds, health regeneration and recovery, would you still be whining about it?
If so, what would your argument be in that case, that you've been compelled to have more fun?

Huge difference.
( = 156% vs 180% base Health, 135% vs 150% base Stamina without accolades and other powers)
True as that may be, just making the powers AVAILABLE at earlier levels would do that too, and still keep the variety.
Yeah, massively. From 140% of the effect of the power with a 50 IO in the one free slot to about 200% of the effect as the viable maximum.
|
cause that would be really great if it were possible!

Your character concept involves not being able to sustain an attack for more than a minute?
Seriously?
