Proof that Praetoria is BAD AND WRONG!

You know how before GR, if you outleveled a contact while you still had a story arc going with them, you were allowed to finish the arc before the contact went truly inactive? As long as you'd picked up at least the first mission, you were okay, the enemies just wouldn't continue to scale past the maximum level? Yeah, our friend Praetor Sinclair (and apparently the rest of Praetoria, as well!) isn't following that rule... I hit 16 shortly before his final mission, and BAM, inactive. With the little "story arc in progress" icon still next to his picture, mocking me for eternity.

This can't be WAI, can it? If so, whose bright idea was that?

I know, it's a total rip. I had clues from Sinclair's arc stuck in my clues window until I left Praetoria.

Mocking you for eternity? Hardly. All Praetorian contacts are erased when you leave that dimension at level 20. By your own admission you are at level 16.

You don't want to out level your contacts? Then go under Options and turn off your XP until the story-arc is finished. You have complete control over this because you can see your characters progression bar and know exactly how close you are to leveling.

If I had known that outleveling would cut me off from finishing the story arc, I'd have done that.

Or just do what would be most intuitive and eliminate outleveling entirely since it serves no purpose and only pisses off content fans.

Replace it with text that warns the user that mobs may be under their level, or auto-exemplaring.

A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

A warning would be a nice feature to add. Something along the lines of the ones that flash when enhancements or salvage fill, but not an annoying pop up window. That will irritate more people and they'll turn it off which will defeat the purpose.

This. I've never understood why we can outlevel content.

"Oh sorry Mr. Hero, I know somebody kidnapped the Mayor, but you're too powerful and wouldn't be challenged by saving him, so don't worry about it."

/fail

Give missions a maximum level and let people decide if they want to take lower exp or not.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Amen to this. Auto-exemplaring to missions suits me just fine, especially now that we even get EXP while exemped. Its not like back in the day, where it would have sucked right royally.

I have no problem with outlevelling content in general. I wouldn't want to see 40-somethings running around busting up Hellion pep rallies. However, I DO NOT WANT to see outlevelling take place in the middle of a continuous story.

Personally, I'd like to see all contacts in Praetoria be impossible to outlevel. If you're too high level for a particular contact, he just won't be introduced to you, but if you already HAVE the contact, he'll still let you do missions. I mean, everything in Praetoria scales up to 20 anyway.

This actually extends to Primal Earth stories, as well. For instance, the Faultline storyline - this one should not be broken up in two parts, especially at level 20. This way, when I leave Praetoria at level 20, I'm thrust in the middle of the Faultline arc at 21. Which would be fine, except Dr. Delilah immediately goes "Oh, hi you person I already know! Glad to see you made it out of that base we were in together! You know, despite the fact that you weren't even ON THIS PLANET until just now!" And then Sands goes on about things you did together that you never did, and Nocturne reminisces about how you defeated her, even though you never did and so on and so forth.

The Faultline story should not be broken up into two contacts in two level ranges. It should be extended in the entire 15-25 range the same way that the Agent Nancy/Agent Adair storyline is presented.

As a content junkie, I agree that there's a problem here. A simpler {for the players, anyway} solution would be for the mission to exemplar you to its maximum level; that way players don't have to worry about missing anything, without the devs having to worry about balancing enemies all the way up to Lv50.

Outlevelling story arcs in the middle of them is bad and wrong. It is worse than that, it's badong. We must make them the opposite of badong: "Gnodab".

I'm sorry, but I can't get that line from Kung Pow out of my head when I see the title of this topic.

I'm royally pissed off at this. I purchased Going Rogue for the content, which so happens to be limited lvl 1-20, and because I had the indecent thought of actually TEAMING for like 10 minutes I reached lvl 16, and now Praetor Sinclair decides I'm too good for him and the only way to complete THE LAST MISSION of that story arc is to roll a new character...

And I'm sorry, but justifying this little piece of brilliance in any way goes beyond any and all fanboy requirements, it's just plain trolling. What's the intended idea, don't team or you'll miss out on your 30$ content?! I'm thinking it'll be fixed in like 6 months or so, but by then my toon will be out of Praetoria and locked out forever.

Just great...
