New GR/I18 Costumes

Is it possible they included the costume pack seperately for people who want them, but don't want to have to buy GR just for them?

I understand that a lot of people enjoy technology and sci-fi, and I can see it being tightly controlled, but to leave no traces of it whatsoever and include nothing for heroes of magic origin? It seems like those of us who lean more towards the medieval fantasy type style are just getting forgotten or ignored. :| You have no idea how hard it is for me to make costumes for my mage character.

But it's way more lilkely that a futuristic fascist dictatorship setting will lean more towards tech than magic - it's just the way these things go

What, you can't come up with a concept of someone gaining magical powers and keeping it hidden? There is a resistance group, surely some magical groups can be on the hush-hush side as well (or have joined the resistance). Plenty of room for your imagination to work, and who knows how they'll fit it in with future updates.

Yes, you can buy them via the Complete Collection Booster, but since the booster is just a collection of the in-game goodies that comes with the GR boxed set, i.e. the Complete Collection, technically, they're part of GR.

Essentially, if you want the Alpha and Omega stuff, you have to pay real monies. They're not freebie costume parts.

Correction: The booster is a collection of the in-game items that come with the Complete Collection version of Going Rogue. If you prepurchased Going Rogue on the NCSoft store(to get Pistols or Demons early) you do NOT get the Complete Collection stuff and you must buy the booster.

Hmn. Are you sure the costume parts come with I18? I was under the impression they were part of Going Rogue as well? After all, it makes no sense for someone who has never been to, nor can get to Praetoria, to be sporting a load of Praetorian based costume parts...

*shrug* Doesnt bother me, just trying to make sure we dont get swamped with a ton of rage threads if they are GR only.

I think it was Ocho who made a joke early in the Beta saying that they could always tie them to various and sundry badges if we wanted, instead of just giving them to us. I'm pretty sure he was joking, but everyone seemed to take him seriously.

I'll let you know for sure on Tuesday...

If this is correct, any chance of someone grabbing a screenshot? I've never seen Mad Max 2 so I'm not sure what it might look like, but if it's anything like it sounds I've got a character who's been waiting a long time for it...

Tyrant has cracked down on magic because it'd be really tough to control the city if artifacts of extreme power kept going missing under Azuria's watch.

I'm pretty sure that Praetorian Azuria has the safest most secure vaults in the multiverse. Nothing put in ever comes back out, and anyone who tries to break into them has their brain melted into a pile of goo.

I don't see any of the new costumes as being patently unusable by magical types, with the possible exception of the Clockwork stuff (though those might make good magical masks in combination with a hood .... hmmm). I'm next to certain that I'll end up using some on some of my many, many magic-origin characters.

Is the treatment of magic, dare I say, a Slap In The Face? (This is my new meme for i18; please spread it around.)

I suspect that one reason we're getting such an emphasis on everything except magic in a new setting is that people have been whining for several issues now about how there's "too much magical stuff," how "that Origin of Power thing made all origins Magic," and how "magic isn't a superhero thing." I don't really agree with that, but it's undeniable that there's plenty of magic stuff in the game as a whole. I don't expect everything introduced to revolve around it.

For what it's worth, I am not one of those anti-Magic Origin people. Magic is my favorite origin, and I'll be making more magical characters for the Praetorian content.

It does appear to have been taken in the costume creator, but I believe it's a PC costume piece (Hats--> Resistance).

Much obliged Kheldarn, that's exactly what I was hoping for. Slap some goggles on with that and it's gold.

My one gripe with the resistance hat is that you cannot use 'Goggles up' with it. While the Resistance can.
*sigh*
I see why, though. Certain hats would have to be marked 'dont allow x, y and z costume parts' while others would need to be marked 'allow etc'
Something for a future revamp I hope.

I am perfectly capable of doing such a thing, and whether or not I can or can't isn't the point. I just stated that I am dissappointed that there aren't more classic fantasy-styled costume pieces, because, let's face it, there aren't. And I would like some for my characters that aren't in Praetoria as well. Don't get me wrong. I like the new costume pieces, which I believe I stated already, and I'm sure I will find a use for them. I'd just like something a bit more magicky in the future. :| I don't see anything wrong with that, and I don't see a reason why the Devs have to completely cast magic characters to the wayside in favor of high-tech stuff, which we seem to be getting a lot of. I get that Praetoria is an "advanced" version of primal earth, but if magic exists in CoH cannon in Primal Earth, why not Praetoria? It's supposed to be sort of a mirror world. *Shrug.* Anyway, whatevs. I'll just cross my fingers, like I said, and hope for something that strikes my fancy in the next update.

Wow, I specifically went through hats to see what might be there and saw nothing... My Costume Creator Search-Fu has become WEAK!!!!!

(They should add one with goggles up, since we can't choose goggles up with it)

Also, we need to get some of these options fixed up... I've noticed no Resistance Goggles on Masks With Hair Heads... very odd! (For males, I didn't check Females and Huge).

Anyways... I'm sure there's a list of all of those inconsistencies.

I just don't get the handlebars on the back of the Resistance shoulder pads. Do Resistance members double as waterboards or something?

So I need to spend another $6.99 to get the Alpha and Omega sets? Bleh. Lame. Looks like my Doomsday homage will be sticking with the Mutant Booster. >.>

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

Well, when Cimerora gets more content added, I'm sure there'll be more magic/fantasy style costume parts added.

Also, depending on what angle they take, you might get some with an underwater zone too
