Inception's dream sequences force X-Men: First Class rewrites

Lukewarm on the change.

On the one hand we had a lot of bullet time in other movies after the first Matrix. Some were ripoffs, some actually used it in new and fun ways. Would like to have seen the X-Men take on the spinning rooms.

On the other, if the sequence gets repalced by something as fun and even more creative, it will be the right choice.

Sounds plausible enough, if they wanted to show a "psi-war" type battle that took place in the mind I don't see how it wouldn't look like the fight scenes in Inception.

For some reason this article got me even more hyped for First Class, I know I'm in the minority but I'm excited for this movie.

It's not like Inception canceled itself after seeing essentially the same dream stuff in the Chinese movie Re-cycle.

Except, y'know, hardly anyone knows about the film Re-cycle.

Right...crib something from an obscure source, no one will notice, even if you bring it up in interviews and such :"yeah, i was inspired by this thing i saw ones a long time ago, and thought i'd try my take on it" no one will care, or at worst you'll get a "oh that's cool" kind of response.

Inception's been seen about 3 times by everyone with access to a movie theater at this point. Even in a case of parallel thinking like this, you'll just get screams of "ripoff". I think it's the right move, and bonus points to Vaughn for the reference he dropped of where he'd gotten the (now canned) idea from.

In the DVD for Lord of the Rings "Return of the King" Peter Jackson mentions that one of the first effects they created was the skeleton ghosts for the Dead Army. Then a few months later Pirates of the Caribbean came out and there was talk about changing the effect because of the similarity to the skeleton pirates. But they didn't change it.

I would hope he'd look at Inception (which I haven't seen yet and am very mad at life right now for that) and instead of saying "OMG they did that already, I CAN'T do that!" I'd prefer he said "Hey they did an awesome job on that and now I need to put my spin on it and TOP it!"

I emboldened the part I think that worried them.

And to be honest, I personally don't feel the scenes being spoken of in Inception would be hard to top in terms of spectacularity, especially when dealing with superpowered characters.

I rate it a spectacular accomplishment in filmography in terms of the massive rigs that were constructed to accomplish it. Nolan definately establishes himself as a director with huge cojones by pulling of what he did, and I seriously hope he gets an Oscar nom for it.

IIRC, they did change the ending on The Two Tower by moving the confrontation between Frodo/Samwise and Shelob to the beginning of Return of the King because "8 Legged Freaks" was being released the same year and Peter Jackson didn't want those giant spiders to overshadow his giant spider.
