Load Times since I-17 go live

I've see a huge increase as well. Base entry now take anywhere from 1-3 minutes. Zone to zone transitions, or zone to instance transitions have see a similar increase, but doesn't happen every time. And while I do run Skype, some or all of my teammates do not, yet they will run into the same long load times.

A Speed Test of my internet shows a consistent 5.1Mbps (don't recall the ping I'll have to check when I get home,) and fps in-game will generally be around 15-20 which I have no problems with and only have lag issues during zone events.

This exactly - I have a freaking Raptor hard drive and used to be the first in every zone - now I am lucky if I don't time out between zones.

I wonder if it is related to the two other new features I-17 brought with it.

AI stutter and Lag in ITF. (Yes I know the ITF lag is actually back from vacation and not really new.)

Almost as annoying is the lack of dev comments on the topic.

Well not to compare manly sizes here, but I do have a SSD with only system files on the drive for maximum speed and I too laod very slowly into mission, so I don't think its hard drive speed at all. I used to be able to load before anyone in my group and defeated the first 2-3 groups before anyone would get in the mission, so we all sit waiting for loading to take place and all seem to zone in at the same time now after a 50 second - 2 minute wait time on loading. Sometimes even longer.

SG Bases seem to be worse off when it comes to loading times.

Yes, I've been seeing these long load times and the ITF-like lag in missions ever since I17 launched on Infinity, but Protector has been fine until very recently where I've started seeing the long load times there now also. The skill lag and rubberbanding I got in missions on Infinity sometimes made the game nearly unplayable so I hope Protector doesn't get that bad also.

On both Infinity and Protector I've been able to confirm the lag issues with my teammates. At first I thought it was just my ISP, but since everyone on my team reported the same problems I'd have to say it's server side just as others here have said.

Seriously, guys, it's NOT US.

It's not our computers. It's not our setup. It's not our ISP connections. It's not what operating system we're using, it's not whether we're on broadband or dial up or satellite. It's not our firewalls or our routers.

It is, plain and simple, the game servers. During the day, from around 1 am to 3-ish pm Eastern time, load times for missions are quick. The mapserver doesn't drop connections. It initializes instances quickly and easily.

Starting around 3 pm Eastern, the load times start creeping up. When you hit around 8 pm and continuing until 11 pm eastern, the load times vary but usually take longer and longer as the evening goes on and then they start dropping back down.

The number of people logged into the game also peaks around these times. So it's hardly a surprise that the Mapservers start getting worked hard.

Also, if you'll read the latest patch notes, there was a note that said "Fixed several rare crash conditions." Presumably, those crash conditions had something to do with loading between zones, and the added check and verify is also slowing down initial loads.

It's not us, individually. It's when we choose to play the game.

Happens to me too. When I change zones, the screen with the name of the new zone and progress bar appears right away, but the progress bar only moves maybe 1/5 of the way across... and hangs there for a minute or more. Then, it suddenly starts moving again, zipping the rest of the way across very quickly, sometimes in only a couple of seconds.

I notice NO (zero) hard disk activity during the frozen progress bar. It's not even touching the hard drive during the freeze.

I have noticed that, when the progress bar starts moving again, I suddenly hear the new zone's 'ambient noise' and/or music start up, but there's often an audio glitch where some sound effect or other plays in a tight loop VERY loudly fro a fraction of a second.

Yes, I (and a local friend of mine) have been experiencing this.

Load-in to a Mission can take an eternity. And, it's always the first load screen and the second zips by. This didn't happen before, both were quick.

We both blame the instance server, for lack of a better target to blame.

Thanks for heads up.

Thank you for thread because I recently noticed this as well.

Just to show it's even happening to the quieter servers Infinity is having those issues too. Recently I have noticed an increase in waiting times but last night the mission load times were significantly longer than usual for everyone. On a couple of occasions there where the team entered the mission door over a couple of minutes period but it took four or five minutes before everyone got into the mission at the exact same time with each person commenting that they thought they'd never get through thinking they were the only one.

I've also noticed that since i17 the lag during the last two missions of the itf has increased tenfold. Lag alley in the third mission in particular has become a slideshow where it use to be only slightly laggy for me.

And don't get me started on how long it takes to get into our base. Although thanks to a couple of posts in this thread I understand now why it can take so much longer to load a base than a zone with has 50 times the geometry.

Good, sounds like they need someone to defrag the DNA sequencer, juice the capacitor and monitor the plasma feed.

I've noticed this as well, though I have seen it prior to I-17 when trying to load some of my little-used bases.

In addition, when I go from the first to the second screen, I often get a short buzz sound. It sounds like I'm standing right next to a Peregrine portal for less than a second before stopping, completing the "progress bar", and loading the true sounds around me. Anyone else get the buzz? Could it be related? I only seem to get it with particularly long loads.

Ok, I found a work-around to get it to load!

I was fooling around soloing and was trying various things to see if I could make it load - I did find that if while loading you hit the Windows key - then right click on CoX in the taskbar where it shows the option to close window and such - IT STARTED LOADING IMMEDIATELY!

It works instantly nearly every time.

It looks like they are looking into it, thanks for informing them, Bill.

I've also been waiting very long for missions, which is irritating after I spend lots of money upgrading my computer so I don't have to wait. I have a short attention span, so while I'm waiting for the mission to load I'll alt-tab out and get into something else and forget I'm even playing the game.
