Claws/Elec...your thoughts?

Anyone have any thoughts on the viability of a Claws/Elec Brute?
I was thinking the already quick claws would be made even faster with Lightning Reflexes...and as I understand it...faster attacks = easier fury. The resistance, coupled with some defence bonuses should make for a fairly survivable kilign machine...or am I just completely off base?

If there are anyguides out there for this combo I'd love to read them...and yes I have done some searching

Thanks in advance.

going for a defense build? it's pretty viable as someone here as a DA/FM Tank with soft capped defense to S/L/E/N, I'm pretty sure you could do the same with a Claws/Elec Brute, you have plenty of ST attacks to slot Kinetic Combats with (which will pretty much be the most expensive thing for your build)

I don't know claws all that well, but I know Elec. I can't see Claws doing all that well in the set... simply because it's mitigation is damage. Elec, for the most part, can be very tough to play if your primary set doesn't have a good form of mitigation. -Tohit, Stun, Knockback, etc. While the extra damage is nice, you'd have to have it in abundance for it to work well as a form of mitigation for you... which works against the Brute concept from the start, since they have to be in the fray for a bit before they get Fury up to a good amount.

In the end, I can see a level 50 Claws/Elec brute playing pretty well... if built right... and I mean an IO'd out beast with extra defense and crazy recharge. But man... it'll be hell leveling that thing up.

I found my Claws/Elec scrapper to be a blast, a Brute version would be even stronger. I did go for a defense focused IO build, but while leveling when things start getting nasty Shockwave can provide a ton of damage mitigation. Claws isn't everyone's flavor but it works well with any secondary.

i rolled on for the same reason (plus cause the elec aura, when turned green, would be nice coupled with the vanguard costume set )

the worst toon i ever played.
ok you can sustaine a high fury, but your damage are still weak compared to another brute that is not at full fury like you. your attack are fast but you need more and your endurance is drained like if there was some hidden sapper that follow you everywhere.

some people will argue that perma energize can maybe counter that, i'll say that perma energize is an obligation.

resistance wise... ok it was my first resistance based toon.. OMG... never felt that fragile.. (and i use to play almost only squishy save a MA/SR scrapstalker)
energize regen is trivial and will not be of any help.

i had rolled a claw/dark brute it was way better a everything my claw/elec was doing (well exept that dark aura is less vanguard like and my fly speed was slower ^^')

was hopping for a power "rikti farming" house, i got really disappointed.

I got my claws/elec to lvl 33. Didn't enjoy it. Gave up on it. I have a SM/ELA at 24 that is a lot more fun. For me, /ELA is squishy and really needs a primary that has some mitigation, which I why I tried SM/. SM/ works a lot better for me than claws did.

My Claws/Elec is the most fun Brute all-rounder I've played. Few defensive holes, great AOE and decent single target damage. Haven't noticed myself being too squishy at all. Plus it looks great.

Part of it might be that I had been struggling with a Stone/Fire Brute before that and they were a complete slog and horrendous for End Consumption. My Claws/Elec is far more fluid feeling and a lot more fun to play.

You're a blender rather than a powerhouse (if I want to feel unkillable I play my Dark/WP, if I want to feel like a dervish I play my Claws/Elec). A few things make a big difference though. 1) Use the Knockdown/Back powers in Claws. They make a big difference to your survivability. 2) Gather things at corners and Spinning them to death is a great tactic (follow up with Eviscerate if you take it) 3) Binds for combining Insps to Purples and Greens can save your life.

With Elec you probably want to take everything, but you can plan to forego Stamina post level 36 if you like (I have and it's fine).

Hi,
got an claw/elec too, that I use to farm...
Ok, we know there is no Footstomp or LR, but i found it really correct tough. Was able to auto-pl me near lvl 30-33 (made a freaks mish in AE and go to infinity and beyond).
I builded it to reach 40% def melee, and it's really potent by now. But, it's really fun, because of a budget and IO...

I would really appreciate it if those of you who've enjoyed your claws elec can post your builds. I don't have a plethora of free respecs to play with, and would like ot make as few mistakes as possible.

Also, any tips for playstyle would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the replies so far!

Bottom line...Claws/Anything on a Brute is so much fun it should be illegal. Enjoy!

I'm interested in shields, but I'm not touchign it with a 10 foot pole until I see how they're going ot nerf it. More than once I've bused by *** to level a toon and had the devs **** on my effort.

Also, from everythign I hear, Shilds is a very expensive set that I don't have the budget to build for genuine effectiveness.

By the way, I understand the build may not be as durable as inv, but I'm not really goign for a toon that can tank so much as I am for a toon that can REALLY fill the scrapper role once GR hits. Brutes are inherently stronger than scrappers, so I'm thinking I'll go ahead and have this toon in the works when GR gets here.

That's what I'm going for ...a "blender" with more survivability than a scrapper of the same build.

I'm not sure how much your looking at spending, but if your gonna throw down some big bucks, this is a build I plan on using someday. The character is currently only lvl 22 and has been for some quite some time, but eventually I want to make this AoE god.

I didn't try to plug the Toxic hole, so I plan on using power surge alot when fighting toxic enemies. This build really doesn't have any other weakness. Survivability should be pretty sick.

It's got swipe, slash, focus, and follow up as a single target buzzsaw chain, but the money is in Spin + Lightning Field. I plan on using Electric Fences to help keep mobs in place, while I watch them melt from Lightning Field and Spin.

Claws/Elec does very well. You will have many powers left over because with that extra recharge, there are few attacks needed to make a full attack chain. This will allow you to more easily take Tough/Weave along with a Travel Power.

Just remember that the majority of your damage is Lethal. This can cause problems later on Vs. lethal resistant enemies.

Whining about everything since 2006.

Ammo switching for Dual Pistols was my idea:
