  1. I've been out of the game for a good while, but was thinking about giving it another run. Ony thing is I see that costume contests are going as high as $100M! That got me thinking something along the lines of "if prices in the market are so inflated that $100M can be given away on a regular basis for a costume contest, how in the hell would I ever get my characters off the ground?!? (I probably have about $300M total...and I'm not the type to beg for cash).

    Maybe I'm missing something?

That's what I'm going for ...a "blender" with more survivability than a scrapper of the same build.
  3. By the way, I understand the build may not be as durable as inv, but I'm not really goign for a toon that can tank so much as I am for a toon that can REALLY fill the scrapper role once GR hits. Brutes are inherently stronger than scrappers, so I'm thinking I'll go ahead and have this toon in the works when GR gets here.

I'm interested in shields, but I'm not touchign it with a 10 foot pole until I see how they're going ot nerf it. More than once I've bused by *** to level a toon and had the devs **** on my effort.

Also, from everythign I hear, Shilds is a very expensive set that I don't have the budget to build for genuine effectiveness.
  5. I would really appreciate it if those of you who've enjoyed your claws elec can post your builds. I don't have a plethora of free respecs to play with, and would like ot make as few mistakes as possible.

Also, any tips for playstyle would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the replies so far!
  6. Anyone have any thoughts on the viability of a Claws/Elec Brute?
I was thinking the already quick claws would be made even faster with Lightning Reflexes...and as I understand it...faster attacks = easier fury. The resistance, coupled with some defence bonuses should make for a fairly survivable kilign machine...or am I just completely off base?

If there are anyguides out there for this combo I'd love to read them...and yes I have done some searching

    Thanks in advance.

Yopu just destroyed any credibility you could've had in that long statement with a single sentence.

As far as being "overpowered"...I'm SICK of the devs...who get paid to put this @$&! together correctly, not takign the time to test something sufficiently, then wanting to take back something that players have had in thier hands for months!

Alot of people have spent alot of time and money (both influence and game fees for the time they've spent buildign thier shielder). If you're going to nerf, "adjust," or alter the set in any way, the only decent thing to do would be to give those who already have Shield toons the option of continuing the way it worked when they made the toon, or switchign to the new guidelines. Anything else eseentially $#@!s on all that time and effort / money.
  8. Is there a standard meeting place?

As far as Power Surge goes, I hate crash buttons. By incorporating CJ, Manuevers, Tough and Weave into my build and using only SO's my resistance is almost capped and defense is above 15% high enough to really make a difference.

A limitation of my build is I am running 8 toggles and and only have 4 attacks besides taunt. I am an end hog and rely on Power Sink to stay in the fight. In fact when I have less than 2 enemies by me I need to hunt more or I'm gonna eat dirt. My focus was an AoE build to farm +2/8 missions hopefully with some inexpensive slotting and practice I can do even better than that.

I did the same thing, with lightning reflexes and swift both 3 slotted, my ninja run is at 67mph my last power pick will be SJ asI can't find anything to provide me with better utility, and the vertical travel will be nice once I hit 50.
What if I don't have combat Jumping or Manuevers? Can I still reach adequate -KB (without spending a *#^! load of money to do it)?

I'm going for 5 attacks. Hopefully that'll be enough.

Also, I'd be very interested to see your build.

    Energize
    Static Shield
    Conductive Shield

    -- offensive
    Power Sink
    Lightning Field
    Lightning Reflexes

    -- weak defenses
    Grounded

    -- situational
    Power Surge

During early levels on my Elec tank, I took both res shields and grounded right away. While this gave me early capped Energy res, most enemies doing Energy damge do energy/smash... making the result much less impressive. The second shield was an endurance waste most of the time. So - I don't recommend doing what I did.

You want Lightning Field but only when you have the endurance to support it. Taunt will do in the meantime.
You said the second shield (Static Shield?) was an endurance waste most of the time...you mean in the early levels or "most of the time period?"

You've hit on something I've kind of gathered from my research so far...that Power Surge is something that I could do without and still have a hell of a tank...or am I misunderstanding?
  11. I'm slowly but surely levelling up my elec/war mace tanker. I have ZERO experience with elec and would appreciate opinions on what powers (if any) others who use elec find skippable (and to what degree they find them so).

As a side note, I'm forgoing travel powers per se, and using Ninja run and jetpacks to get me around (I'd rather use powers and slots on stuff I'm more likely to use when I'm in the mission).

Doesn't seem like that long ago that ice/em was the **** in PvP with all the holds and slows boosted by Power Boost.

    What happened to change that?

As for rad/em, you don't want to slot the achilles proc in EVERY power. You want to slot it in Neutrino Bolt, and maybe X-Ray Beam (Or whatever it's called). If youre going with a cheap build slot some devastations in the attacks along with as many dmg procs as you can.

As for MM, like somebody mentioned, it's 2nd but not by a close amount. It can work but EM is still vastly superior.

Oh yeah, you can slot the placate proc into indomitable will, and the proc is currently broken in pvp so it fires everytime. Meaning they lose target for a few seconds whenever you use the power, and youll be able to hit em with a couple attacks in that time.

AANNDD psi has longer range than other powersets which is huge.

So ya know, go with psi/em
How would you time it to accomplish this? I'm assuming certain powers need to be fired off in a certain order?
  14. anyone have any experience with a traps/ defender?

Does it handle any differently than it does on red side?

What secondaries do you like for it?

I have a couple of questions:
    1. Has anyone here know of someoen that was banned because of using a G series keyboard (and if so, what were they actually doing that got the m banned?)

    2. What abotu people that suffer from carpel tunnel and need to macros to allow them to play the game at all? I actually know of someone that had to stop playign because he devoped carpel tunnel from swinging a hammer all day.
  16. Anyone know how well COX is working with Windows 7? I know of several people that had issues with COX and Vista when it first came out.

That's not completely accurate. If you respec and can't/won't use some of the IO's that you had previously used, you can only keep like 10 of them and the rest get sold.

  19. Thanks. I appreciate that. I'm levelling up an AR blaster and trying to get as much +Dmg as I can to offset huge s/l resistances
  20. Can someone tell me what the cap is for the set bonus blasters can get for damage?

All I was trying to say was that the answer here is pretty much the same as what you got in the PQ forum: that you can't get to Tanker-level resistances. However, as many have said in this thread, you can make yourself very tough. I do agree that Defense bonuses are what you're going to want to go for, over Resistance bonuses, because it's just plain easier to do.

Going for some Recharge bonuses would be good, too, in order to try to get Dull Pain to be permanently up. It's fairly easy to get to that level of Recharge, and can help a bit, especially against damage types that you won't have Defense towards, such as Psy and Toxic.

So, if you're trying to make an /Invuln Scrapper very tough, go for Defense and Recharge bonuses, and don't focus on Resistance bonuses, unless they come in sets you're already going for.
    Thanks for the help

  24. How possible is it, with set bonuses and such to make an invul. scrapper reach tanker level resistance and, if it is possible, roughly how expensive would it be to do so ( I know the market fluctuates...just asking for a rough estimate)
