Do you ever think are avatars will get more detailed?

I was wondering if we will get better or upgraded looks to the faces and other body parts. In games like Aion you can make characters that look almost like real people in terms of facial features and such. In CoX the faces are some what generic and you cant get the realism you see in real life. Maybe I just suck at the costume creator but I have yet to see or create a character that has a face that looks any where closed to detailed as you can on Aion.

Yeah, I don't think it's in the cards, but you never know.

Doing something like that would require changes to massive numbers of costume parts and texture files. Some players would complain (because their characters don't look like they did before), rioting would break out and frogs would rain from the sky...

Ok, maybe not those last two.

But anyway, it's unlikely to happen before they move on to something like a CoH2 or whatever.

I like our comic book look. I could go for fingers though.

Yeah, CoH2 would be my best guess. Can't get much more detailed with this engine (although some of the higher numbered faces are more "realistic" than the lower numbered ones).

They've been slowly improving all the various subsystems in the game, so it's really not out of the question that we could eventually get better 'faces' without a flat out rewrite of the whole engine (ala CoH2). They'd have to do it in a way that'd leave the current faces in place (i'd see having a choice of 'pre-made' and 'custom' faces).

That's very likely. they've done the same with the original tails and their animated version. We have seen upgrades to costumes already, with the tails as well as glowing costume parts and the reflections that came with Ultra Mode. It's not inconceivable that we'll see more of this in the future.

I've seen David mention that he's looking into leaving legacy parts whenever possible (wildly paraphrased) when I asked him about a possible deshiny version of Metallic. So the mindset's there.

Super Booster: Faces! Pictures of real people that paste to your character's face! New emotes such as: "Washing face", "Peekaboo", and "Pop zit". "Pop Zit 2" will not make it into this Super Booster as we are awaiting the release of Super Booster: Backs first.

I can see faces but everything else, assuming a higher poly count for bodies, would require every costume textured to be double checked and likely tweaked which is obviously extremely time consuming and manpower intensive.

And when I mean faces I don't mean user adjustable eye color or facial scars but more photorealistic and less simplistic.

Fingers were the other thing I was thinking about. After playing aion for a while I logged into CoX for a bit and was like where the hell are my fingers? This doesnt look right.

id just like to color or chracters eyes. all other games has this feature. i wounder why city of never had.

I don't think Face/eye customization is that huge of a priority because this game is played 99% of the time with you unable to see your face/eyes or most other people's, not to mention that face customization is pretty much the only thing 99% of the other games out there have (besides height/build and a couple other minor things) without impacting your performance (or paying a premium, like in Aion where you need two sets of armor, one with the stats, and one with the look, with only one resulting from the modification process).

I'd be happy with hands that don't look like mittens and bare feet that don't look like fleshboots. There's a reason many of my characters use monstrous hands =/
