Also having a birthday today is Lady Arete. Until today, I alwas read her name as Lady Artea. And I can't remember the last time I played Lufia II... >.>

She probably will attempt to turn me into a newt for this. I hope I get better...

Local Man plays on the generic newspaper headlines, like, "Local Man Rescues Cat Stuck In Tree". He also has a character named Area Man, created in the same vein.
Does he have a Network man too? See what I did there...

I wouldn't be surprised. He's pretty awesome that way.

Yeah, I'm not just hitting up 606ers. Gotta get my fellow Guardianites, Forum Gamers, and the Generally Cool Peeps, too.

Funny stuff, Kheldarn!
Yes, my "art" is rather laughable.

I like it! Far better than I could have done . . .

No Network Man . . . I played out the "Local Man" joke far enough, so my other characters have other puns and joke names.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

This is for Jack Power's birthday.

I'm always picking on him for being Sweedish, so I made a Sweedish Meatball with a Sweedish Flag stuck in it.

The meatball may have been inspired by a certain wad of meat... >.>
Very sweet!

Thanks Savvy! Sorry I missed this until now. People don't often send me PMs.

I know I'm behind here (my list is up to 24 to do now, 25 if Bayani ever comes back and says it's OK for me to do an HBAS for him), but I'm going to continue to fall behind.

Wednesday evening, at 4:50 PM EST, I got a phone call from my aunt.

My mother suffered a severe asthma attack, and passed away. She was 54.

I turned control of the legal stuff over to my aunt. It makes more sense, because she lives up there, so no additional travel expenses for her, and she knows my mothers wishes, and how to best take care of them.

Once all the legal stuff is out of the way, we'll figure out when we're all going to get together and take care of the personal stuff. At that time, I'm going to have to take a trip to South Carolina.

I can't begin to tell you how much I love my mother. But right now, I feel so helpless. There was nothing I could have done to prevent it. At the most, I think things only would have been delayed. Not that that would have stopped me from trying. But I absolutly HATE feeling helpless. I ALWAYS want to do whatever I can to help when friends and family are sick/feeling down/etc.

I have my wonderful wife and daughter here with me, but I feel so alone. A major part of me is gone. And now, I have to go on without that part.

Thankfully, I have wonderful memories to cherish, my wife and daughter to help me thought this time, and my City Of Heroes family, too.

My condolences to you Kheldarn and your family for the loss of your mother.
Love and caring seems to be a foundation in your family and that tells me your a fortunate man.
There are some things we are helpless against, this you have experienced now more then some of us. Take solace in your family Kheldarn and cherish them (as I have the feeling you do) and together you will emerge stronger and more tightly knit (I believe). As you said you will have to go without a part of your life, but you still have the memories.

(Thought I'd write more but I don't want to make a sermon. I just wanted to express the thoughts I did get when I read about your loss.)

Hi all.

I left on Tuesday of the week of Thanksgiving to go to my Aunt's, so that we could attempt to finalize things after my mother's passing.

Things didn't exactly go as planned. Her bank wants a letter from Probate Court before they'll move the money in her account into an Estate Fund and shut down her account. And, of course, it wasn't a simple in and out thing with Probate Court, so we didn't bother going, as we'd be home before they finished up. My Aunt has the paperwork, though, and we went over it, so she knows how to fill it out.

The Wife™ & I spent the rest of Wednesday going through the self storage where my Aunt put my mother's belongings. We got through about half of it. We went back Friday morning, and finished up, then went to lunch. That evening, The Wife™ took the rental car back, and went to pick up the Ford Escape we were supposed to get. They managed to upgrade us to a Ford Edge, but it was still too small to really mean a damn. Between our stuff we brought up, and the few things my Aunt had at her house, we could only fit, like, 3 boxes from storage into it. The Wife™ was really pissed off at the size of the thing.

We left Saturday, and stopped over in Savannah, GA for the night. This morning, we went to The Lady & Sons, Paula Deen's restaurant, and reserved a table for 12:30 PM. We then went down to River Street, browsed some shops, watched a big ship come down the Savannah River with containers on it, then went to brunch and stuffed ourselves silly.

After that, we went back to River Street, did some shopping, then hit the road and returned home.

Since we weren't able to bring, well, anything, really, we're gonna have to make another trip up there. We'll probably go sometime after the holidays, though. Blarg.
