Hence....... I would like to know how you justify

I'm not sure what glass house Fulmen's was referring to.

I was surprised someone who posted what you posted in this thread consisting of those 2 meaningless little tidbits would expect someone else to elaborate in their posts.

Apparently you have some arbitrary personal rules about posts and to consider a glass house comment insulting or abusive. Why?

[edit add] I believe more people would consider your use of "stupid" to fall under insulting though.

He was referring to the saying "those who live in glass houses should not throw stones"
It means that ... something that you say which means people should not criticize other people for faults that they have themselves

I was asking him to elaborate on what fault he thinks I have relating to this topic.

p.s. - I said - "Still think it's stupid" which is completely different from "your stupid"

anything else I can explain for you?

I know what the expression means. I wrote I didn't know what he meant. I explained my posts.

However since your post is insulting I think we have found your glass house situation.

Which leaves us with your wonderful reply after that which said, As opposed to "why?" and "i still think it's stupid..."

So if you didn't know what he meant why on earth are you elaborating on the 2 posts I made he was referring to !

So i will say this once again.... if you think you can explain better SwellGuy feel free.

Shame you didn't think about that beforehand.

Devil's Advocate: Adding gambling to the game would increase it beyond a Teen rating which I believe the devs refuse to compromise.

Otherwise /signed.

Hrm. I overlooked that post. However, the rating is cumulative based on a number of factors. And between the writing, animated violence and who knows what else, this game accumulated a teen rating. There was a post a VERY long time ago by someone who probably got themselves cut loose from the team, but they said we couldn't have a costume option to have a cigarette because it would bump the rating - those damn impressionable kids. Cigars were okay though, since they're not in the public eye as much anymore.

TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.

Golden Giza and Pocket D. I don't think heroes should have their own place to gamble exclusively, doesn't seem too heroic.
I was just thinking about this as i was running through GG and noticed it was hardly used, the exterior is beautiful and the interior is pretty cool too.

To be fair the Heroes should have their own gambling establishment if Villains are going to. I'm not sure where, although Skyway City doesn't really have a lot going for it right now, so that might be a thought.

I'd almost say have it be run by The Family, but most Heroes I know wouldn't touch it at that point. Maybe make it a Hero Corps venture. They can always use more money to market their brand.

While I think this would be a good idea as an inf sink, let me produce some worst-case scenarios:

*A player loses all of their inf, posts on the forums about it. Debate ensues about player responsibility vs. dev responsibility.

*News of an unfortunate gambling incident makes the E-News and the already low-sub CoX is painted with a broad brush (They're making their players gamble, the horror!)

*Mistyping of a desired amount clears someone of all their influence. Solution: Allow only marginal amounts like 500-50,000 influence and only allow a limited number of rolls.

*Betting on Arena matches: I like this and we tried this a few times but not many bets were placed.

I'm behind the idea overall, but I would need some definite convincing to get behind it 100%. There would need to be a 100% return to the player in any event, in the form of Inspirations, Salvage, Recipes and so on, or even booby prizes like confetti above the player and so on. Of course, they could also add badges to the whole thing...like: "High Roller, Dead Broke, Lounge Lizard (?)" for the number of times you access the mini-games.

What I would prefer:

Pinball mini-games
Pool/billiards mini-games

These wouldn't seem like "gambling" so much and instead come out as a kind of time-sink. You wouldn't get the "Virtual Moral Majority" coming out and expressing their discontent about it and the Devs might be safe from raised eyebrows as well.

Actually that's an excellent idea - Brainstorms will be listed in the market, probably forever...
Why not use them as "chips" = the "Brainstorms" are copper-ish & would be worth 1. So, add in some silver-ish Silver Psyche "MindRiders" with with a value of 10, gold-ish "KingMidas" at 25, maybe "Gamesters" at 50.

There's already a way to turn these into Random Salvage (or Random within a type Tech or Arcane, and/or Rarity). So presumably - some of the Tech is already there, and there's no reason to let that go to waste when the last of the base salvage runs out = a sad day indeed - or maybe not.

If the suggestion of purchasing chips to gamble with is used, this is no different than a player going up to a crafting table, burning all their inf on level 50 recipes and deleting the stack. They have to buy the chips before they spend, they can't gamble inf directly.

Easily countered by showing that "making players gamble" is libel. Possibly resulting in a new revenue stream for CoX due to the resulting lawsuit and easy victory.

also, at this point any press is good press =) In genreal video game controversies get people to try the game out. Think about Mass Effect. And CoX is a good enough game that lots of those testers will stick for a while.

No different than the current market. Happens all the time. I had someone buy an 80m IO for 888,888,888. Clearly added an accidental 800-million inf to their purchase. Already happens, so no change.

That's because there is no tech involved to automate it. Make it an automated process and it will happen.

The entire goal is to be an inf sink, not to be a revenue stream. In general gambling gives a 50% return or lower in the real world, so a 100% return would completely ruin the intended function.

I've yet to see any virtual moral majority protest the gambling in Fable, or Final Fantasy, or Runescape, or Mass Effect. Can you find me any links to pure entertainment games with a mini-game that involves fake gambling with no real money where there was a protest? I've never heard of such a thing personally.

However, I'm all in favor of any kind of minigame, including cheesy arcade game minigames. Play for 1 chip. =)

Near as I can tell all of your concerns are either already a non-issue or easily solved.
