More HEAT/VEAT Specific Content

Now that practically everyone can play a HEAT or VEAT if they so desire, any chance we might get some more official content or tweaks for them?

For example, maybe the VEATs could get a version of the PPD Radio where they're "assigned" to handle specific situations in their official capacity as an Arachnos Soldier.

The Kheldians could get missions specific to their origin: tracking down supplies of quantum rifles, putting down rogue Kheldians, that sort of thing.

VEATs are not excluded from the Newspaper.

HEATs, by far, have their own unique and over-arching epic storyline that no other ATs get to experience.

Yes, I know that.

But what's the harm in them having MORE stuff to do?


The Kheldians aren't excluded from the Radio either.

Since neither Epic is hard to get now, it's not that unreasonable to ask for some more things to make them unique IMO.

I have no prolblem with this however not every ones VEAT is still a lackey of Arachnos. In fact I think part of the "official" cannon has it as you left because you were fed up with Lord Recluse/special treatment of the project DESTINY.

Now not every ones back story follows that theirs always room for other options but if any thing like this ever came along it would have to be optional. Prehaps they can use the new side switching tec to also add a loyalty to Arcachnos/Roge Arcachnos system along with the side switching stuff and maybe tie it into the incarnate system.

I agree that there should be more H/VEAT content.

None of this has to be obligatory and even the most retentive of those types of players eventually finds a way to justify to himself why his character carries out missions like the ones proposed by the OP.

Is it me or were the low level HEAT arcs way better than the higher ones? I liked tracking down kheldians gone "bad" as such.

I did the HEAT arc back in 05. I'm working on my Spider's now. I have to say that so far the worst HEAT arc is still pretty good compared to the VEAT.

Agin I am all for this change.


However its still a Change. People don't like change. I was simply trying to inform the OP that he was going to have to defend agenst this tipe of argument and offed the most obvious Hand-waving option for those people.

I would love it if they'd make a second VEAT starting contact where you actually WORK for Arachnos. It was incredibly disappointing to finally get a level 50 villain, roll out an actual member of Arachnos, and then find out I wasn't really part of Arachnos.

Of course I just stopped doing the arc and ignored the lame "All VEATs have abandoned Arachnos" crap.

I remember thinking the lower-level VEAT arcs were more interesting than the higher-level ones.

Especially the last mission at 50, which is basically "you're a true Destined One now, you have nothing better to do, go troll Statesman".

Past 15-20, yeah, the VEAT arcs (if you can call a single mission an "arc") are horrible wastes of time. I remember hitting either 30 or 35 and my reaction to it being "What... the... hell?"

Came very close to deleting the character out of disgust.

VEAT arc is like 3 missions, the first of which ALWAYS sends you to Mercy Island (because devs hate villains and know we hate mercy), and then another mission or two...and the higher level ones only become, like, a single mission. "I'm a Destined One!" "Nu uh Kalinda re-Divined the destined one list and you're not on it!" "THEN I'LL JUST BEAT HER UP AND PUT MY NAME ON IT AGAIN." "wow you really are a destined one!"

VEAT arcs feel like they were an afterthought rather than real story arcs like the squids get to run. While rewriting half of them would be nice I'd rather the devs just go ahead and make new content everybody can go through instead. Although if they rewrote them I'd sure like to see the Arbiters faction of Arachnos get involved. The Arbiters are even higher ranked than Recluse's patron lackeys--and considering the Arbiters bring the hammer down on Recluse's top lackeys when their individual scheming threatens to upset the status quo shouldn't they consider a powerful rogue Soldier of Arachnos an individual that needs to be dealt with? Or even recruited back into Arachnos as an Arbiter?

I remember being disappointed the Statesman at the finale of the VEAT arcs didn't reward Archvillain. The badge description says you're an AV because you pounded on Statesman's face. But, then again, maybe the think they'd have badge whining. 'wahh they took one of the badges unique to LRSF out and made it available in a level 50 VEAT mission, too. now you can only get Servant of Recluse, Annihilator and Master of Recluse out of his SF!'

And as others have already noted, the VEAT arcs...just...no.

"What's so bad about the Kheldian arcs now?"

Council bases....about 85-90% of the mission maps on the HEAT story arcs are the council base maps....I swear having run my Peacebringer to 50 and finished all the HEAT arcs I could navigate the assorted council base maps blindfolded.

A little variety wouldn't hurt every now and again. Plus constantly fighting council with high-level spawns seeming to consist of nothing but galaxy troops and council riflemen (with cryo rounds) - the stacked slows get a little tedious in mission after mission.

At least now there's not a Quantum or a Void hunter in practically every pack

You say that.....

Was on a team the other day and it seemed that pretty much EVERY mob contained either a quantum/void or a nova/dwarf.

Admittedly they aren't as bad as they used to be now that quantums do pure negative energy damage which means that quantum/twilight shield and dwarf form can usually reduce the incoming damage fairly sharply, but the associated stun it inflicts on khelds can still cause the odd faceplant if it catches you at just the wrong time.

Okay but that's a game-play issue. I doubt that's what Venture had in mind. Maybe part of it but he's more likely to claim that it's just a bunch of stuff that happens.

I solved my issues with VEAT's by creating mine to look pretty much exactly like an Arbiter in the armor, and creating a VG called 'Recluse's Fist' in honor of Lord Vader.

I treat all my missions as going out and enforcing the Law of Recluse. Which means great amounts of gratuitous violence.

I like to see a few mods for Nova and Dwarf forms, would be nice to have a different look for each new Alignment... Hero - Vigilante - Villain - Rogue.

Archanos need the old look found in the Ouro Mission

But that is just my 2 cents.
