I just checked the email from NCSoft I received the other day. Yes I'm also pointed towards the NA copy

I have one account under my name and one for my wife both EU accounts.

You think they are trying to tell us something

Edit: My email address is a .co.uk so can't even mistake that for a NA address

All, it wasn't so much a mistake as it is the automatic redirection that doesn't seem to be functioning properly. The NCsoft site should recognise your IP and redirect you to the relevant site. Apologies for the inconvenience, I'll get someone to look into that.

Just like how the NA store redirects to the EU store?

The ONLY way it lets me go on to anything NA related on the website is the following link

http://us.ncsoft.com/us/news/2008/12...unches_11.html [which btw still has i13 as the main headline?]

Clearly the US version of the website, clicking on to the store directs me to the EU store

https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/Store.pl

Apart from that, not really sure how else i can actually log on to the NA store

Do the items not have the US version also available link under them? Thats how I buy stuff for my US account.

On mine none of the boosters [including the wedding pack] and the GR pre-purchase has the US link on them. However the full game versions do have these links.

Hmm.. yeah, just looked and mine does that too now When did that happen? I bought the US GR Pre-order just fine.

IIRC they once did. I'm pretty sure i bought MA booster that way.

Recently I checked both pages using proxies (silly you can't access them via other ways) and it was vice versa, meaning NA super boosters didn't have any "EU version available" label, too. Since I didn't want to use my credit card using proxies I delayed buying anything, but haven't bug reported it yet.

There's a workaround that allows you to reach the NA versions of the store pages from a EU IP, but it involves some manual editing of a link target.

First, click the "More Info" link for a Booster pack. This will take you to the EU version of that booster pack. You'll find that the address of that page ends with "&item_id=" followed by a number. Click the address bar, subtract 2 from that number, and hit enter. You should now be at the NA version of that booster pack.

For instance, the address of the EU version of the Martial Arts Booster pack ends with "&item_id=152". Change that to "&item_id=150", and you get to the NA version of the MA Booster pack.

It's not guaranteed to always work, but last time I checked I believe it worked for all the Booster packs.

side-note: I really dislike IP-redirects that you can not opt out of.

H4x! Seems that's doing the trick! Thanks for the information.

There's a lot of IP-redirects in the internet (Google main page e.g.), but on a shop it's really annoying, especially since you can choose "English (US)" and "English (GB)" on that page (I assume this is not made to differentiate between both languages )

Especially on a shop where people can have legitimate reason to buy products not associated with the region their IP is tied to. At least it makes some sense on stores where you're only allowed to buy from your own region...

Google (fortunately) allows you to opt out of their IP redirect. By going to www.google.com/ncr , you set a cookie that prevents the IP redirect from taking place.

(I'm not sure if it's a backronym, but I've heard it being refered to as No Country Redirect)

Far as I knew only the http://www.cityofheroes.com/ URL directs based on IP. After that all the pages seem to behave themselves. I can flit between US and EU stores without issue following links from the front pages.

I bought the booster packs without any NA links or URL-malarky.

It asks which account to apply the code to, I pick my NA one; they just work.

IP-redirects are the devil's work; redirects in general break all kinds of web accessibility/usability guidelines and shouldn't be used, ever.

Can confirm this works, bought MA Booster for USA account, just clicked on the Product ( did'nt have a USA version link ), and it asked which account I wanted it appled to ( which was my US account name ), applied it, and all items worked in game perfectly fine.

Hope this helps out a bit, I was most confused at this too. But the above method does work
