One dead-horse counterargument does not make his statement false. Try again. There is literally an entire thread dedicated to player suggestions that have gotten into the game.

One example that springs to mind:

Some of these chest symbols made it into the game, they were all created by a player. http://home.comcast.net/~uberrod/images/newemblems1.gif

Though it is not the best example in the universe, it is a true and accurate one.

Actually yes it does. Ghost Falcon's statement is still false.

See the above post for another example.
And I repeat for your eventual benefit.

The devs do listen.
Does it necessarily make a difference? Not always.
Does it mean you're going to be auto-given exactly what you want simply because you're were willing to voice your desire? Nope!
Does it mean the devs priorities take a back seat to player priorities? Not always.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Actually (and literally) no, it doesn't.
We have tons of evidence that they do indeed listen. Whether or not they agree or take action on such things to a degree enough that satisfies an individual may be debatable.

We're listening to you, Alpha_Zulu... but it doesn't mean we agree with you.

Anyways, you had one thing right in your previous post.

"False statement is false."
That applies to statements of your own.

well from the video I get the impression that they have very high hopes for GR.once earlier they had high hope and a LOT of HYPE, Items of Power anyone? or the base raids? or COP? they had a whole issue for that, had interviews, articles, postings. and where is it now?

I know they don't like to talk about upcoming issues much because in case they decide not to add something to the game, but to have a issue dedicated to it then turning it off is a big letdown.

I am in the middle of doing my first Patron Power arch, and I must say to me that is a big letdown, i much prefer the hero side. Not that i plan on using the powers(which originally you could only have one patron so you had to choose wisely and they were talked about being a bit better than the hero epics, and due to postings I have read.are not) but the long time doing the arc solo or with a small team, to me have not been worth it. and I have had COV since the beta. And for the record I have purchased GR. If the arc you have to do to switch sides is anything like the Patron. Just one more part of the game I will skip.

There's no side switching arc - Ghost Falcon said at the Pocket D meet and greet that there aren't even any side switching contacts.

Please don't misrepresent my post like that. I was NOT saying that the devs don't listen. Actually, I believe they DO, and that Ghost Falcon's statement was true. I was only pointing out that the addition of capes, in particular, was not a game change made due to player feedback - and so, it comes across as misleading to use that as an example. There are SOOOOO many examples of changes made to the game that were a direct result of player feedback, they should stick to those.

I think "capes" makes a nice bullet point/sound bite, and that's why they used it as an example.

I didnt really get much out of this video. Things like wings and so on are old news. I would much rather hear some genuine discussion of the expansion and the thought process that has gone into it.

Just what is this "next level" the game is going to? It shouldnt really include the fact that the game does well on character customisation.

Of course, i would have accepted that had some of the vidoc talked about the mutant pack. We know that pack has caused much dev discussion and it would be interesting to get an insight into that.

The video is "Part One" and is called "Prelude to Going Rogue" - it's just setting the expansion in context, and the following videos will look deeper into GR.

Just quickly, for the record... I agree with what you said here and in your previous post and completely understood what you meant.
Not a knock on their listening at all. Just a caveat about the capes thing and listing it like that.
I don't mind it and it does sound good for the people who don't really know.

Then again... to make someone think that they never planned for capes on their own... would possibly make them sound a bit silly in the head.
A Super Hero game without capes??

Hehe, anyway, I noticed that and had the same progression of thoughts when watching the video as well

Most likely they granted him some powers (like the AV mez protection power) so they could make the video without having to worry to much about getting killed etc.

With demo editing, you don't actually need to do that - you can record any fight, and then edit in or out whatever avatars you like.

Either that or it ties into that first level of the Incarnate system we're supposed to be getting with GR.

Think they could of added in video, that if your from the EU don't expect to beable to buy this product in a shop, you will only beable to get download.

Make sure you have Acrobat reader installed on your comp to read manual.

Have a blank dvd disc available so you can make your own disk.

If possible please use a keloggs cornflake box to hold all print outs and disc, reports have
come in that Frosties boxes are just not holding weight enough.

Have your daughter come up with a an official disc label for dvd.

Make sure with your ISP that you haven't got any limatations to how much you can download per month.

They could even put in small type somewhere at bottom of screen :- oh and if your from the EU be prepared to be poo'd on from a great height.

Melissa Bianco: "We basically have taken City of Heroes to the next level. And I don't just mean like, the next level, we took it to the next level with Villains. We took it to the NEXT level with Going Rogue."

Wasn't that clear enough for you? They took it to the next next level!

Seriously tho, while that statement does beg the question, how many levels are there, I think, as GG pointed out, this was part one of a series of promotional videos. This one was primarily to set a context, and the following ones will probably go into more detail about GR. I think it's obvious from this one that they are hoping to draw in some new players with GR, since that seems to have been the target audience. I hope they are successful in that.

You looked at video for a game called Going Rogue for those two things, you was looking in the wrong place.

Most people would have a looked at video to purchase a game, my point was valid to tell people from the EU that all they would recieve would be a digital download, so before you get smart think about the people in the EU that arn't as lucky as you and get all the bumpf with it although they pay exactly the same amount for subscription as you do.

Tell ya what sling me on ignore will ya, can't deal with people like you.

Wait... So, you make that previous post, and I reply to it with a joke... And you're somehow upset? When you, yourself, contained humor in your derisive commentary towards CoH... You can't accept a silly little two sentence reply. Crazy!

I am completely sympathetic to the problems with the EU CoH and all the players.
If you really think all of that should have been included in their little promotional video...

What you suggested in this thread was ridiculous and I countered it with humor.
If you'd like me to counter it further in a serious manner to reduce your stance even further, you'll have to pick a number and wait in line.

I'm kidding, ya know?
If you go and post a bunch of negatively slanted complaints and suggest that these truly should have been included in a short video promo, then you should work on World Of Warcraft's Marketing Team! [They could use a few less customers]
So, yes, hopefully in the next part of these series of videos, the developers will explain further about the plight of the European player and their general lack of boxes, manuals, CDs and television stations.
I'm hoping for some information on how poorly the office workers recycle paper products and whatever negative press they can muster to include in this series of videos.

Personally, I commend the EU CoH for not having boxes. That version of the game, while shorter on population, is vastly superior in their environmental concerns... Or, much GREENER.
Embrace your community's greenhood and be happy you have no (As some like to call it) box-temptation!
Lay down your need for material goods and welcome the digital age!
One of these days, the North American version may rise out of the dark ages and join you in the rejoice for lack of boxes.

However...
For now...
Let's include your entire message into their promo video, like you have suggested!
We'll get one of those commercial narrators to say it all as speedily as possible at the end of the video!

They may have to receive Kellogs' permission to be named in this video, but I'm sure acquiring that won't delay its release too long!

Thank you for your most serious and constructive feedback, Slazenger! We'll get back to you!

Like it so much, I made a story arc:

================================================== ================
Prelude to Praetoria - The Calvin Scott story
Arc #405593
Morality: Neutral
Factions: Standard - Devouring Earth, Circle of Thorns,
Custom: Tyrant/Emperor Cole, Maurauder, Maelstrom
Praetorian Police Dept (costumes similar to GR pics), Terran Military Authority (Marines), Praetorian Clockwork, Hirogen Mercenaries, Scarpandos (custom DE allies), Civilians
(resistance fighters)

Your global/forum name: @DeathSentry
Difficulty Level: Team or solo given the allies, contains Bosses and an AV (Tyrant) at the end. The minions have enhanced defenses and contain the dual pistol and demon summoning
powers amongst others. Contains ambushes to fight and to assist
Recommended Team Size: Can be any size, plenty of patrols though
Level Range: Minimum: 25-54
Typical duration: "Medium" - 30 mins (3 missions)

Arc Synopsis:
Ripped from the pages of Going Rogue, tells the story of Calvin Scott from his initial days of being a supporter of the Emperor, to becoming the leader of the resistance.
You are brought in to initially assist Cole against his fight with DEs which stemmed from a plot by the Circle of Thorns. You'll work with Sgt Latimore to help infiltrate the growing resistance movement with another spy, SongStress. In your final mission, you will try to storm Cole's stronghold with the help of the Terran Military Authority and some other resistance fighters along with Calvin Scott himself, now transformed into a fully-fledged leader.
But Cole has tricks up his sleeves and is not about to go down easily. You'll also try to get to the bottom of the plot between the Devouring Earth, Circle of Thorns, and, from going rogue, Praetor Tillman who has taken over the body of Aurora Borealis.

WARNING: May contain arch-villains, extreme minions, custom bosses

Mission One: March of the Devouring Earth - Bridge over Troubled Waters (uses the new Striga bridge map)
Mission Two: Enter the Rebellion - Ambiguous Circumstances
Mission Three: Long Live the Emperor - The Emperor has no clothes (uses Mayor Marchand's new office map.. downside, sometimes enemy critters don't spawn where they should..sometimes)

All feedback is welcome.
