Virtue stability issues

Make the gerbils powering the server run faster? *cracks a tiny gerbil whip*

Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?

Aaaand... we're still down. I'm hoping that this means they're really DOING something, and not just trying to get it rebooted as usual. I got no problem waiting for maintenance, but if it's totally shot for the day, I wish a Dev would let us know. Time for our mortal species is a finite commodity!

The problem is THEY might not know if it's down for the day. They might be fixing a half-hour problem, only to find another half-hour problem when they finally do, and so on.

And...

Down again.

Along with the login server.

Please stop outsourcing the QA work to Elbonia.

I guess the server doesn't like the idea of an all Def ITF.
I has a sad.

And the daily mapserve appears to be happening.

So, uh, when exactly are the Powers That Be(TM) actually going to make an attempt to work on this problem instead of just pretending and making excuses?

Yeah. You shouldn't be twittering left right and center about how all of the devs and management stopped doing any actual work on Wednesday so they could go to BayCon.

Agreed. I don't care WHAT they say, stability issues are still rampant. If we're expected to pay for this, count me out. Perhaps you should worry less about getting new crap out the door when the old crap doesn't work like it should. It's a six year old game, and it shows. The spit shine that was "Ultra" Mode just added bugs and stability issues while only giving us lighting effects and improved shadows. Whoop-de-*******-do.

Have you ever thought that the problem with only virtue isn't even something that the Devs have any power over? For all we know it's the hardware that is failing. If ultra mode broke everything about the game, wouldn't all the servers be having the same problems? To sit there are say that they are doing nothing at all because they are going to a con for a day just shows how little you know about things like this. But if you really feel that the Devs are worthless, you can quit. Just don't let the door hit you on the way out.

As for me, I can see that they are working on it so I'm going to be right here playing the game I enjoy.

I've got two characters stuck in Talos

Alongside mapservering like every second. Pretty fun.

'sides, the devs aren't the ones that are dealing with server issues to begin with.
Nah, I think they expect the Devs to be up 24/7 watching server monitors only for any potential issues. No home life, no vacation, no rest. The Devs should only eat live and breath the game. Let's get the IV's of nutrients and caffeine ready so the dev's don't sleep.

Sheesh, The Talos one, there was a new instance up in 15-20 minutes and people were able to get the characters back at that point. The NOC and server team responded pretty quickly in my book.

Uh, actually in the real world companies that use production servers that provide services to paying customers, actually do run 24/7 admin teams. And in the real world, management better be responsive to that team 24/7 when something big breaks. Like say...Virtue.

They expect their sysadmins to keep the system running and monitor it 24/7. If Paragon can't afford to hire 24/7 sysadmins, they a) need fire their CTO and hire someone who will run the server group like professional admins and b) to start cutting costs so they can afford professional admins and not have to have their servers hosted by Bob's Bargain CoLocation.

Ummm, Sysadmins are not the Devs. From what I've seen they do have people watching the systems.

And none of us should really be expecting the Devs to be fixing all the problems, big and small. They have other things they are working on. Things like, umm, oh, I dunno.... GOING ROGUE?!

GR or not -- How do you expect people to play a game that can't run?? Either way I'm sure they are working on it (as they said)...

A zone or two crashes everyday -- eats toons and annoys people. It really is getting old >_<

Well then!

Atlas Park crashed yesterday in the middle of a CC. My character (Nigredo Fist) wasn't in the CC but was in the zone. And when it crashed.....

BAM!

I could not login to him for the rest of the night, and I had a lot of SG leader stuff I needed to do with him. That was really irritating....

Those characters who were locked out because of the crash... Are we allowed to log back into them or are they still locked out?
