The beauty of COH, that which sets it apart, and that which shall live on is this:
In COH, you're encouraged from the very first moments to be a hero -- a good guy.
We rescue hostages, we save the world from alien invasions, we stop time-travelling villians in giant bronze robots, we help strangers on the street, we...wander through poo to do the right thing.
With easy rez, we're encouraged to be brave (if not plain foolhardy). We throw ourselves into danger with abandon, we throw ourselves into mishes and task forces with teams of nothing but defenders or where everyone has a build set around knockback (oh god my side still hurts laughing about that all-KB ITF).
And it shows in the way we treat each other. So few d-bags compared to other games. Little kindnesses like taxibots. Random acts of generosity in Atlas Park. AP33.
Lots of games encourage you to go beat up bad guys.
Only COH encourages you to be a good guy.
That's what I'm bringing elsewhere when the Rapture occurs.
Be good, Heroes.

WarWitch,
Because of you, COH wasn't a game, it wasn't a thing; it was a place.
A place where people were encouraged to be their very best -- to be heroes.
A place where I could be awesome and brave and magnanimous and kind to n00bs (because everyone was kind to me when I was a n00b) and silly as hell.
A place where I always felt like it was my duty as a hero and my privilege as a person to exemp down an L50 and kin/tank/whatever for a low-level group.
A place where I could hand a few million influence or a LOTG 7.5% to a complete stranger and never even want anything back because a real hero would do just that.
A place where I could hang out with some of the smartest, sweetest, funniest people I've ever met in my life, night after night for just $15 a month.
A place where I got (get, for 8 more weeks) to be my very best me.
If RL was more like Paragon, it'd be a much, much better place.
I know I'm a better person for having gotten to live in Paragon.

Looks like the video card on the 2007 iMac has been deprecated.
When running under windows on the bootcamp partition (and I do so because RWZ, invasions, etc just lag me to death under OSX), the NC Launcher gives me an error that the video card drivers are out of date and the game won't launch.
Even though it worked just fine before yesterday's patch.
So, I went and updated the drivers using ATI's catalyst thinger (the technical term), and got the same problem.
I'm certainly not buying a new Mac to play COH and sure as hell I won't put a plain wintel machine in the house. The bootcamp partition gets used for VPN to work and COH and that's it. I might have hit paragonwiki from it once. I even felt guilty about that.
Any of the other bootcampers having similar issues? -
Quote:Uh, actually in the real world companies that use production servers that provide services to paying customers, actually do run 24/7 admin teams. And in the real world, management better be responsive to that team 24/7 when something big breaks. Like say...Virtue.Nah, I think they expect the Devs to be up 24/7 watching server monitors only for any potential issues. No home life, no vacation, no rest. .
They expect their sysadmins to keep the system running and monitor it 24/7. If Paragon can't afford to hire 24/7 sysadmins, they a) need fire their CTO and hire someone who will run the server group like professional admins and b) to start cutting costs so they can afford professional admins and not have to have their servers hosted by Bob's Bargain CoLocation. -
It'll take three weeks because as usual, Paragon is going to outsource the work to some H1B's from Elbonia or some other 4th world country.
Paragon should be ashamed of themselves for the stunning lack of quality assurance that goes into COH. Every release if it's not one thing it's ten.
Then the servers crashing, entire zones being inaccessible, logins constantly timing out (Connecting...#25, anyone?).
Enough with the bandaids, Devs. Get to fixing the actual problem before someone comes out with an actually playable hero game. -
And...
Down again.
Along with the login server.
Please stop outsourcing the QA work to Elbonia. -
Hi,
I'm looking to set up my warshade to use two separate bind files (one for human, the other for lobster).
But, I'm not sure exactly where the bind files are. I've dug around some in the client folder but have yet to find them.
Also, once I do, what do I call them in the system since we don't have a c: drive, per se.
Thanks,
@Flux Faraday -
For me, short answer: definitely.
I play both a PB and a WS as human/dwarf. I very rarely get any mileage out of nova.
I especially like WS because with Sands of Mu and gravity well, plus my stupidfogs (cloak of fear + the oppressive gloom equiv) and shadow cloak for extra +def, my WS basically turns into a perpetual motion machine. Kill dudes, eat dudes, kill dudes, eat dudes.
The only place that fails me is when I get to a last, single boss.
Then it turns into change into lobstah mode, whack on the guy till he drops even if it takes a week.
You can also perpetual motion lobstah if you get stygian circle bound to your change-to-human button. Lobstahsmash till you're tired, hit your bind key and have a snack of blue and green, hit your dwarf key again. It's beautiful.
Plus, as everyone mentions, the double-mire after an eclipse? So, so delicious.
PB is different, pb is more in yr face up close and personal. Less controllery, more scrappery even as a lobstah. But I like both of them very well. They're my go-to toons. -
First question:
Is it possible to bind the *release* of a mouse button? (EG, I want to have middle button DOWN be "give me the TP target" and have middle button RELEASED be "teleport there")
2nd question,
If not the first option, is it possible to have a bind switch depending on form? EG, to have the middle button bound to the TP power switch which power depending on which form?
All the best,

Hey, I just wanted to throw a shout-out to Chant, Snowy and the rest of the guys (and chix) in Tribe of Legends.
I was bored and ready to bail on CoX. The players I'd run my main toon up to 50 with had all left the game. The SG I was in was literally down to just me -- the redstar bailed long ago. I caught a pair of players, @Chant and @Snowy, that I'd run with and had a great time with and asked, "Hey, do you two know of an SG that doesn't suck?"
They had just 2 weeks prior formed Tribe of Legends and without a word they sent me an SG invite. Flux Faraday became the 6th toon in. And just like that, the game got fun again.
And here I am nearly 6 months later with my shiny 12 month badge, and still having fun.
Tribe of Legends, you rock.

Quote:Anyone else read that as "GR is so ***** that Pos has to dump his job on someone else so he can go in and fix it?"
Which, given the highly dubious "success" of AE/MA, should give one pause. -
Quote:Hear, hear. Now, yeah, I'm sorta miffed I missed the event but I think there's something that needed to be said here: Thank you for making this happen. There's tons of other MMOs out there without these kind of events and we're really lucky to see these things happen. So seriously, thank you for making this game my game of choice.
Cheer-
That ninjadude.
I may complain about events lasting too long (seriously, the last 2 have been extended and extended) but having the events themselves? Awesome. Something to which we can look forward. In other words, a holiday. -
Quote:The Dames are a first-class SG to coalie with. Every single one of them is awesome.Haha I was going to post a Dames one but got beaten to it! lol oh well Yay for Dames
haha and whats with the warning? no warning needed, were a warm hearty group that is always welcoming
