I17 Live Patch Notes -- Bugs and Updates
I agree. Every single thing released in patch is broken in some way. Some severely.

Nope, I can't think of anything non-inflammatory to say to that.

I foresee a pretty major patch coming along in the very near future. Too many players are experiencing game breaking bugs. Worst of all is that many of these bugs have been repeatedly pointed out in the closed and open beta testing.
COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes
There's an ancient bug with the hide settings that basically means that the Hide-from-tells setting is semi-persistent.
If you are logged in on a character A that is hidden to tells, and then switch over to a character B that is not, then character B will also be hidden to tells. If you type /hide it will still show character B as not being hidden to tells, but it will actually be hidden. To get out of this situation, hide character B from tells, and then unhide it again. It's rather annoying. |
I have never hidden any of my toons in any way. Bit I know about that bug and tried the old fix. No luck. This one is different.
|
You said that it happens to "some" characters. Does this mean that it doesn't happen to all your characters?
Can you think of anything that differentiates the affected characters from the non-affected ones? Hero/Villain? Server? Favorite movies?
New fun bug from last night:
I had 3 copies of Summon SnowBeast from the winter event. I used 1 of them fighting Protean, but it removed all 3 from my powers. =( I think I have multiple "Rock" temp powers on another character to see if it applies to all powers that we can have duplicates of. |
This is not a bug.
[AUTO-REPLY: Chat hidden] means that the character you are sending a tell to is not able to see Chat at the moment. The character may be in the tailor, respec, or enhancement placement screens. This is a quality of life feature.

I've been here for every release since issue 3 and I do have to agree that this is among the buggiest ones yet.
|
From my own experience with the forums, not only is every single issue the buggiest one yet, it is also completely broken. I am glad to see this tradition is maintained still.
edit: Oh yeah, the flashing and repetitive noise of the entrance of the Oro zone is getting old fast.
Alright, I figured it out.
I do not use the default chat window setup.
I click the little down arrow that hides it, then I open a fresh one with the number 1. I create all my tabs, and leave only that window open. When I pop open the default chat window, the bug does not happen. When I use my custom tabs window, the bug happens.
Wait, what?

I have always been of the opinion that the developers actually WANT their updates and patches to work properly; if, in fact, they are just going for an overall "above-average" success rate, then by all means, put all the bugs from i17 in the "ignore" column, because there have already been enough bugs actually fixed to maintain their average, right?
I don't care if there is only ONE, relatively minor bug in this release; I'm sure the devs would like to know about it so that they can fix it. Just because something else may have been WORSE, that doesn't mean that nobody wants to fix the current stuff.
Kids these days... yeesh.
Also, I dislike the new WentWorths UI very much. I don't know what about it is supposed to be New and Improved, but generally, the screen looks very cluttered, and MUCH harder to read as compared to the old one, and ELIMINATING some of the options from the old one - like the category search filtered by keyword(s) - is retarded.
I suppose it's still USABLE (once the bugs in it get fixed), but I haven't seen any reason so far that it needed any change, nor have I seen anything improved about it.
WTF!?
Other than my primary costume slot, all my power colors reverted to original. Cavalier shields won't take a pattern (though when at the tailor, an change cost has been assigned) and the ones that already had it are only showing black
Still can't read my assigned enhancement numbers as they are showing too small, in the enhancement management screen. |
This is what I came to the forums hoping to find. My toons have had their power colors reverted back to the original color and I wanted to see if I was the only one.
Lisa.
So don't wait for heroes, do it yourself

I see, so if there have been bugs in previous patches/issues, then there is no need to fix the ones in the most recent one?

I was also remembering and reminding people that previous issues have come out in a less than perfect state. Issue 7, which I referred to is the one that's stuck in my mind as it had a huge number of bugs that made the game so frustrating that it was all but unplayable for the villains I had at the time. The bugs got fixed eventually.
Now, some people are having serious issues, I'm not denying that, but there are other people who are having far fewer, and less serious issues, if any.
Leaping around crying DOOM because Issue 17 isn't perfect and completely bug free isn't necessarily the most productive way of bringing bugs, glitches and errors to the attention of the developers.
Also, the bugs won't get fixed instantly, there's a turnaround time on patches (QR making sure it doesn't make the servers melt down into a small puddle of Seville Orange Marmalade, for example), and tracking down and fixing the bugs in the code base takes a certain amount of time.
If you can get in game and hit a problem, submit a /bug report. I have myself for one or two issues I've come across in I17 and if it's serious, submit a /petition, too. I've had a good positive response so far from the GM's regarding the petition I submitted.
If you can't get in game, or for whatever reason can't submit a report from in game, then submit a ticket to support via support websites :
Support Centre for our English European players
Support Centre for our North American players
Plateforme d'assistance pour les francophones
Support-Center für deutschsprachige Spieler

Then unfortunately, a most rare and precious commodity is required. Patience.

Complaining won't help remove the current issues, but maybe, just maybe, the devs could keep it in mind the *next time* an issue is to be released.
Bad experiences stand out, and it seems to me that quite a few people have had bad experienced with i17 thus far. There are going to be more.
Even if bugs/glitches/errors aren't game-breaking (and it seems that they actually are for some people), they detract from the general impression of a new issue (people do talk to each other, and negative comments travel fast). It is my belief that in many cases, taking time to eliminate some key issues *before* an issue is released will result in a much better reaction to that issue when it is released.
It should however be noted that in this case they were pretty much locked into releasing i17 this week a long time ago, so it's not exactly like they could decide last week to push the release forward a week or two.
The fun issue with the new Wentworth's is all well and good, I understand not being able to purchase things I want to get (lolwut), but currently the fact that everything I had on the market for one of my characters (including a superior, crafted enhancement that was put up for quite a lot of money) disappearing and not being /anywhere/ to be found is kind of obnoxious in that "Why the hell am I playing, I should probably be doing something else before I get angry and gnaw on the laptop." sort of way.
missing costume pieces make me sad...I really really HATE the Warrior option on Tucked In...I preferred it with the Tights/Bottoms option, but apparently it's not there anymore....GIVE IT BACK!!!
Also confirming that Integration is broken, regardless of setting, Original, Light or Dark. D: and its my only constantly visible customizeable power. ;_;
I was specifically responding to the hyperbole that everything in I17 is broken.

I suppose the one other thing that the playerbase probably is really looking for is a fairly quick response from the devs saying "We hear you, and we're aware of the situation, and we're working on it." Even without a timetable, when the devs tell us that they know about the bugs, and they are trying to fix them, it calms most people down a lot.
This is a bug. It is doing it no matter where the character I am talking to is, or where I am.

It should be fixed.
'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.
I noticed that the npc's standing IN the furniture was pretty much fixed...
Now I hope they can fix the 'surffing' npc's who are running for their live, arms up and legs frozen.
Many things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done.
Lots of alts, mostly on Virtue
Not impressed, every single thing except for the new mission and black market has crashed out since its been updated :/
Also confirm I am getting random frequent internet dc's as well, only when the game is running and only after this patch. I normally get 27mbps internet, which is just fine. Now it's randomly disconnecting when the game is running, crashing out.
