The "Zero"/"Black Hole" IO

My suggestion: The "Zero" IO or "Black Hole" IO. (Call it whatever the hell you want).

What is it and how would it work?

1. It is a recipe that can be bought at wents or the stores. And I mean bought like the teleport power at wents. It doesn't drop. The price is frozen and scales as such: (not set in stone)

@ lvl 1-20 it's 400,000 inf
@ lvl 21-30 it's 750,000 inf
@ lvl 31-40 it's 950,000 inf
@ lvl 41-50 it's 1,000,000 inf. Each additional time you buy it at lvl 50 after the first 5 times (at 50) the price gets 500,000 added to it until it hits the permanent price of 3,000,000 to purchase.
@ incarnate level 1, the price is 3,000,000, and stays at that price.

Inf sink possibilities, obviously. Further inf sink possibilities.

How it works is that when the person crafts it, it creates
The salvage required would all be cheap (ANY 6-8 white salvage of ANY level), the crafting cost would scale at 1/3 the price of everything posted above until it hit the final permanent crafting cost of 1/3 of 3,000,000.

As you can't trade it, it's bind on creation. The resulting IO would be stuck in your tray. (They could increase the tray to 20 if necessary, but not required)

What does it do? The IO allows you to zero out or black hole out one slotted IO. The slotted IO would jump to your tray, while the slot it was in was once again open, and the Zero/Black Hole IO would then vanish.

What do you all think?

So an IO that lets you remove an IO. I like it!

I like it too.

Cool. If anyone can think of any problems or objections please post them.

It's the best way to refine a suggestion.

Having said that I've also pm'd 4 of the devs about it. (Not saying which ones, in case they want to respond in PMs).

So at 50 I would be able spend 50 some odd million inf and safely remove every enhancement I have slotted without the need of a respec.

As much as I'd like it, I don't see the devs going for it when they stand by so firmly on keeping us locked into our enhancements.

Be well, people of CoH.

The only one that comes to mind, and probably not popular, is a limit/cool down timer.

As I understand it, one of the reasons for a limit of 10 in a respec is to act as an inf sink. I could see someone using this to get around that sink by stacking up on these IOs and using them to replace a number of sets. They could easily do the same with multiple respecs. Will it have any impact overall? No idea and don't really want a timer either, but just tossing it out since it is being asked for discussion.

So if there was a limit of say 6 (the max slotting for one power) IO set with a time between (24 hr/1 wk?) between the 6 uses. This idea would be great to replace one set for a power already slotted and not hassle with the full respec process.

Or make it just like any other temp power, once you have one you can't craft a 2nd until the first one is used up.

That IS the greatest objection to it.

I'm not married to the costs though.

IF (!!!!) they decided to change that stance, what do you think would be the best costs for it at 50, Bill? (or any other level)

Also not opposed to a type of cool down on use.

I like it!

Maybe even, though this would take a little bit more coding to do, probably, but have the price scale be set up with a timer. The more you try to make in a short period, the faster the price goes up. Basically, if you create too many of these in say, a month, the prices jumps exponentially, to prevent someone even at level 50 from being able to completely unslot their enhancements at once.

But, as time goes on, the timer can reset if you haven't used one in a while, making it more for use as a one-at-a-time thing, but if you have a lot of influence to waste, you can pull out enhancements in a power.

This is the best "Changing Enhancements" idea I've ever seen. It works as an Inf-sink, since you can't FIND the recipes and noone makes a buck of marketing them.

This makes it even more awesome as an inf-sink.

Okay, even crazier idea to add rather than buy at market or limit players from buying up to avoid a respec (again only for discussion purposes).

Day job temp by the guy in GC or the one in Nerva? The temp power can have either: 1) a max number of uses (6 again?) that slowly recharges over time; or 2) one use but recharges faster (24 hr/1 week?) per use.

The temp power will drop the IO as mentioned above as a recipe to be crafted (at some high cost for inf sink).

While I agree I was thinking it is really important to let the devs know that part of the popularity of this is that a full respec to make a small change is such a major pain in the behind.

So if they could give us some method of making minor respecs, with this being the most minor in pulling out 1 enhancement and the current method being a complete do-over, I'd be most appreciative.

I really hate having to do a complete respec for a little change and would gladly pay a big (in game inf) price to do it piecemeal.

I've suggested similar before, but I've never bothered trying to go into detail about how to obtain it.

As such, it would be hard for me to disagree with your idea

Okay.

THIS idea I like.

I dread the day I have to respec my level 50 main JUST to pull out the Regenerative Tissue unique he has (which he doesn't need) and give it to my Katana/WP scrap (Who DOES need it)

The fact that it's impossible for players to make money from it (aside from selling the removed enhancement of course) makes it worth doing in my opinion.

So, the most rarely seen word in a post from me in this section:
