Bounty out for kill. The thread so large that the Mods had to lock it to save the rest of the forums. Not only is it great in its "Gone to the Americans" absurdity, the OP swings by once in a blue moon to make posts that imply that he started all of this on purpose.
Definitely epic. There's an entire social group dedicated to keeping that thread alive.
Edit: I'd nominate the first thread I ever made, wherein I requested certain changes to the game. It was both the advent of the greatest thing to happen to any of you... and the origin of the rumor that I'm a lesbian.

My favourites would have to be either The_Question's comic strips on the old EU boards, or any one of a number of TheMightyStorm's guides, such as the R U H34lar? FAQ (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=113554) which inspired my manifesto in no small way.

I liked "How Deep Was the Spartan Pit?" from Comic Book and Hero/Villain Culture, at least the early part of the thread that discussed things like Spartan diplomat training, which was said to involve kicking a heavy weight back and forth while yelling as loudly as possible. In my daily life, I occasionally refer to Hate Pits.
Jock Tamson's "In the Beginning" thread of defender mythology is good, too, but I believe that has been stickied.
I, too, have enjoyed the Sister Flame thread.
