Mourn my fellow scrappers, I17 is now live and we are one step closer to getting beat with a nerf bat.

Umm...

Issue 17 isn't live yet.

It's in Open Beta now.

Did you have a specific concern about Scrappers you'd like to share?

I've shed my BotZ's, I've said my goodbyes. They're sitting in an enhancement table in some dark lonely corner of my base never to been seen again. T.T

So I'll have to use two sets instead of one to get back to 45+% to all. Oh... the horror.

How will I ever go on?

I'm nerfed into abject uselessness.

Oh doom.

Woe is me.

Look, if you're going to bring relevant facts into the discussion you obviously shouldn't be posting in this thread. i come here for the misguided, misinformed rhetoric and hyperbole, not facts and logic. Sheesh, some people...

Edit: And it's not like the change wasn't announced, in the public forums, weeks ago. b(^_^)d

My scrapper is already respec'd and Soft Capped for when I17 goes live. lost a little bit of recharge, but it's barely noticable.

True. As they should be. Support classes and glass canons aren't supposed to have melee level mitigation.

Yea, I know, I'm mean, but if anyone didn't see this coming, they've been wearing blinders.

No no, i understand the urge, but i also realize that it's waste of perfectly good veracity to bring it into this thread. Just don't let it happen again. (i rarely follow my own advice on such matters.)

What is the point of giving advice if you're just going to take it back for yourself? If you give me a can of soda I'd be a fool to expect you to drink it wouldn't I? So why should anyone expect you to follow advice you're giving away?

I try to only give advice that I don't want anymore.

Oh wow, somehow I didn't realise the nerf was that big. Gonna have to move a few slots (especially for typed def, 0.625% isn't worth it imho).

It affects my Mids builds more than my actual toons though, since I tend to not actually fully IO out ingame and rely on lucks instead, heh.

Do you guys honestly notice a difference between 43 and 45% def in actual gameplay?

I've build a number of solo'ing AV builds (non scrappers) and on failed attempts I usually scour the combat log and i don't recall a single time where it has actually made the difference.

I mean over enough time it would obviously be trackable, but I dunno, I seem to find my personal threshold is ~42% def at which point I become pretty much unkillable outside of defense debuffs.

It might make more of a difference when fighting swarms of enemies, but then I don't hesitate to use inspirations when I'm in hack n' slash mode, granted it is usually reds I'm pounding, but still.

This change is pretty minor to my ranged builds and especially minor to my fire/sr and bs/shield even though it did push the sr to just below softcap.

I do, I tried doing an RWZ challenge on Test using my non soft capped build and boy did I get worked. I was 45% to melee and 41 to both range and aoe and it was almost comical how many times I died compared to being at the soft cap.

Honestly? Not against groups like Council and CoT at +4/x8. Against other foes, maybe I would have. I'm sure if I had been given more time, I might have noticed it.

However, my latest build on live has Bill sitting at 47% melee defense and I feel like I'm getting hit MORE than I was when I was right at the cap...

In other words, I don't trust my perceptions.

I have the same question. My planned build for fm/sd/blaze (for farming and normal teaming without spending billions so recharge is important). has capped melee and ranged at 43.5% (AoE is just 34.5% but i don't care about AoE unless I'm /SR because it's so easy to cap everything with SR and still keep high recharge). I could cap ranged losing some recharge, dunno if it's worth the tradeoff for 1.5% extra ranged def.

I can definitely tell the difference between ~40 and ~45 in game. Smaller margins though and my senses might just be a bit dulled since taking a break.
